They have called me some many times in the past 9 months.  I ask them everytime what company they are calling from, and everytime they give me a diferent name.  I have even googles the company name while they were on the phone and told them ithat name does not exsist, and they hang up on me.  I tell them "yes, I am interested, but I will have to call your office in the morning, what is the number?" and they give m a fake number.  I now just tell them that I have called the police and they know who they are, and they hang up on me.  I even went as far as telling them, yes I want the duct cleaning service, but I have to talk to a manager to sort out the details, and they hung up on me.  All calls are coming from India, I am sure.  But I can't figure out what their scm is.  I know for sure it is some kind of scam, but I don't know what!

Getting the same annoying calls. When I answer no one is there. I do subscribe to the Do Not Call list. Thus there will be a report to the CRTC

These idiots have called my house way too many times.  And every single time I ask them to take my number off their list, they hang up on me before I even have a chance to finish my sentence.  They are rude and inconsiderate, even after I tell them that my number is on the CRTC do not call list.  I've made a complaint against them to the CRTC, hopefully it won't take too long to have rectified.  In the meantime, I've blocked their number.  Hubby made a good suggestion though, next time they call, make an appointment to clean the ducts and then when they show up at my door, I can personally tell them where to go, maybe that will be my new approach to these rude and annoying telemarketers.

I get constant annoying calls from an Indo fellow at Air Duct Cleaning Services (416) 700-5678.  When called, the number is unreachable.  Despite being on the Do Not Call List registered with the CRTC the calls have continued over the past few years.  I formally registered a complaint with the CRCT and they informed me that numerous complaints against this company are already in place.  I hope they nail these rotters ...

These guys or guy are complete a-holes, I freaked on the guy when he asked ,me how I was and I replied I am the same as when you called me last night, he then preceded to call me a liar and I used every curse word I knew.  Then the idiot called back 2 days later.  We blocked them using *60 so hopefully it works, but I would love to know where their office is located so I could go down and freak on them in person.

I'm with you - next time they call - I am doing the same, having the company come out, not to be rude, but it seems as though it's the only way to get any local communication.

These "Duct Cleaners" have been calling me every couple of days for several weeks. I started out very calm and polite. Told them my ducts were just cleaned - they hung up. Told them Asked to be taken off of their call list - they hung up. I'm sure the stories are all the same. Decided to tell them that I am busy at the moment but would like to call them back to discuss - asking them for a company name and phone number - which of course they won't give... they would prefer to call back. They told me the name of the company is "Duct Cleaning Company". haha. Now they swear at me. Good grief.

The hang ups were annoying... the filthy language unacceptable. Great business model.

I urge everyone to keep them on the line for a few minutes.. ask them what the name of the company is. Ask about pricing... get them to go into detail. Eventually numbers will be cleared from their list.

These guys are trying to get around Canada's Do Not Call List.  Start making a list and report them - would be great to get a landmark case decided against these guys.

Keep track of all the numbers you are getting called from - make a list and then contact the Police and the Governments' DNCR - and report them.  It may be it is the same people calling - but using different numbers.  They are not unlike the computer hackers - but if you don't know who is calling you from the number if you have call display - don't answer it.  Make note as above.

An air horn from sports tore or boating store works wonders.  They do not abide to the do not call list.  So a large blast on the air horn will send a message.

The DNC is a list that telemarketers are suppose to update once a month. Once they get the list, they usually have to be manually inputted into they're calling system so the computer doesn't dial your number. But that's the catch: They have to get the list from the CRTC. If they are from a calling center overseas, the CRTC can't monitor or enforce the rules on them. That's why most companies are getting these call centers overseas to do their telemarketing.

Just received a call from 416-700-5678 and no one answered. Call the number back using *67 to hide my number. Get a message that caller is not available and am forwarded to a message stating that their message box is full. I too am on a no call list. You can congratulate the caller and inform him/her that by violating the guidelines of the CRTC's no call list that both he/she and company are now eligible for a fine by the CRTC to the tune of 4,0000 per violationIf I get any subsequent calls, I will pretend to be interested enough to get the companies name and number and then procedd to contact the CRTC by fax or email and lodge a formal complaint that the caller has violated "The No Call List". !

The Canadian National "Do Not call" list is essentially toothless, as it does not provide any REAL penalties (i.e. 20+ years in jail with no early release) for the telephone scammers who, on an individual basis, may waste a few seconds or a minute of the lives of many individuals but who, on a cumulative basis, waste entire lives with their calls. We Canadians are also kept somewhat in the dark as to what investigative powers are available (and to what agencies) to ferret out such scammers. Ditto with email spammers/scammers. It does not help any that this list is administered and maintained by Bell Canada, which has a vested financial interest in telephone usage.

Until such time as Canadians bombard their MPs with demands for tough legislation (with REAL penalties) for companies who do things like mask/spoof their caller ID, and/or whose mailboxes are perpetually full whenever you try to get your number removed, etc., there will be no change from the current mess we are in when it comes to being bugged on our own time and with our own equipment by companies who push the cost of their marketing down onto us.

If this number really does call to promote air duct cleaning, the only other option you have at this point is to call them back from another number and/or with your number blocked, arrange fictional dates/times for a duct cleaning and completely waste their time with fake appointments with fake names at fake addresses in industrial areas. That is the only way such scammers will be discouraged. (Not that I am recommending that you waste your time with that, you understand!) But until then, they will laugh and laugh, while they continue to call and call...

This number called here for the first time yesterday but didn't leave a message or thankfully a blank voice mail as many do.

I have noted in past if one picks up or talks to these types of turkeys the frequency of the calls actually goes up, despite telling them to stop calling.  The reputable callers will generally stop although some take a couple of trys.

Given these don't stop and as we are not in Toronto, this is probably a scam.
