They just offered me a free cruise to the Bahamas from 4167777777. Wonder if it's the same jerks, or if someone else is using this numer now. Hung up, but it was likely going to be, here's a free cruise, we just need a non-refundable tax payment, or some crap like that.

Got a call in the middle of the night from 416-777-7777 - whoever it was left a "message" which was garbled static. Where is this outfit? 2:47a.m., dead asleep, is a rotten time to call.

I think he said he was my cousin, didn't give much details. Unsure what the person wanted, but was "fishing" for info. I am sure this is a scam!!! Although I am unsure what he wanted. 416-777-7777 I answered to find out but the person just said he was my cousin at some girls house and he was embarrassed. I asked who he was and he wouldn't say, he hung up, and never asked me for anything, but I think wanted me to "help" him. Be AWARE creeps exist!!!

Your first clue its a scam is Why would any CEO of any legit company call people at random to offer them a job as a personal assistant .
Your second clue is not answer a number such as 416 777 7777 in the first place
They can spoof any number they want .

Scammer conned a local woman out of $8,200 over a three day period while she was waiting for her $250,000 Prize from a Contest she did not remember. Using Western Union for payment and caller ID shows the 416-777-7777 number. They are spoofing the number through technology that is currently available to hide real phone numbers. They want to make sure the victim "tells nobody" about it for their protection. Thankfully, the Bank caught on because of the withdrawals. Wilmington Mass. 10-2-08

I also got the same phone call from a Dr. Farmer wanting to do an online webcam interview with me because he wanted me to sign a $250,000 contract to live in his 12acre estate in L.A. and accompany him to red carpet events.... I think that it is really sad when people do this because it has happened to me a few times and it's not right to get people excited thinking that their dreams are turning into reality....then realizing how gullible they were and encouraging them to loose all further ambition to continue trying to fulfill them...

I also got a call from "CEO United Airlines"...the caller stated his name was Dr.Chendapalma (not the correct spelling went with how it sounded). He said he got my number from an Eleanor MacPhearson-who supposedly worked at United Airlines. He said she had gotten my number from her asked me to describe her, which I couldnt.
He told me he was flying from Korea to Hawaii and calling from his private jet. He said he was looking for a "go-getter, right hand person". He also said I would have to re-locate to LA and I would be traveling alot-Chicago, LA, London, Johanesburg. AND I would have to deal with the media...
He asked me what my measurmets were and I refused to tell him...he talked a good game...
at one point he brought up my friends name...first and last, so it was somewhat believable...but I was defintely weary.
He made some comment about waiting to recieve a payment in mid-aug...I asked him what that had to do with this phone conversation...and he just brushed over it....
he said he would call back on Tuesday. when I got off the phone I immediately called my friend and told her this story and went online looking up information. He called about 5 times that night and the next day and never heard from him again...
He did call my friend shortly after I called her and he was a bit more detailed oriented to what the job entailed...
well randomly a week later I mentioned it to another friend and she also got a call from that number but never answered it because she didnt know the number....
Havent heard from him since-and I dont want too!!!
Very crazy situation!!! Watch your backs!!!

I just got a call from the "CEO of united airlines" and he was asking all these questions and giving me all these details about what a personal assistant job would include. don't know if its legitimate... sounded VERY convincing but I am hesitant. The job is one of those too-good-to-be-true things with one exception.

This same number 416-777-7777 called my friend and I, seperately, to ask if either us wanted to be his personal asistant and that he was the head CEO of United airlines (ps-arent they going out of buisness?!). He asked us both strange questions about our ages and sizes!
The scariest part about all of this was that he knew both of our names and that we are friends!
Please beware of this number and I hope the police are doing something about this.

I know about maybe one of the individuals that is involved. I am sure that it is one of many. This one goes by the handle: Jayman2004
He has a pager set-up. If you call 416-793-9635, put in your call back number after the beep. He will call back on 416-777-7777.
I know this for a fact. He enticed my wife into a long term secret relationship from his activities on Yahoo Euchre. He would have her call his pager. All of his return calls came from the 7777 number. It is a great coincidence if he is an employee of the Star. If anyone knows him, he should be fired. He scammed my wife, and just about broke up our family of 19 years.
The Star has investigated their call records for outbound calls to my wife's cell. The Toronto police are looking into it. I have given 7 months of call records to them to review.
I have a feeling that Jayman2004 is involved. Search Jayman2004 on a browser search. He has IT experience, knowledge of inner telecommunications/Internet. It is public knowledge for what I found as his email: jayman2004@shawcable.net
I know of other people and places involved by the numbers called by my wife during the scam:
866-680-5654 Someone at Davison Chrysler in Scarborough is involved
Someone else with the cell number: 563-370-1197 is involved. I believe as a major player.
Watch your phone records for anyone calling the 416-796-9635 pager as they are either involved as well, or have become a victim.
The Authorities will be bringing this activity down. Take all of this info as more to bring it down. If there is any info I will also leave my email: anderson.jason6@gmail.com Contact me if this helps, or if anyone knows more. JasonG

It's not the Toronto Star, it's a boiler room that's programmed their phones to show the Star's number. They called to scam you out of your money.
| Candace 2007-11-02 17:17:43 Unknown |
Toronto Star Classifieds called (as I found out from searching the web for this number) and didn't leave a message. I don't know why they called.
