I used that approach against a cold call duct cleaner.   Told him my ducks were self-cleaning.  Told him I had some mallards, some pekins and some muscovys.   Told him I like Roast Duck.   He cussed a little and hung up.

I got these ah's off my back months ago by acting stupid, and telling them that I DO own a flock of DUCKS but all of them were very clean, and needed no further cleaning --try it!

Terrific? I'm on the DNC list, too, but it didn't deter them.  I got sick of the constant calls, so last time I just said that it seemed like a great idea and booked an appointment.  

And when they showed up (2 hours late) I refused to let them in.  

I'll call the company, Toronto Breeze, 416-894-5421 during business hours and let them know that since they don't respect the DNC list and feel free to waste my time and interrupt my leisure with unsolicited calls for services I don't want, I feel free to waste their time and resources by booking appointments I have no intention of keeping.

I'll also let them know that everyone I've mentioned this to LOVES the idea? maybe, as it spreads, it will actually deter them.

This company has been calling me as much as 3 times a week since April, despite my stating I was not interested, and despite I am on the 'do not call' list.  How do I stop these people calling????

I get a call every single day from these guys. Most of the time there is a 5 second delay before anyone even speaks, then a heavy east indian accent starts in with a sales pitch for duct cleaning services. No matter what I do or say, like ask them to stop all the calls, they don't care and call the next day. I tell them I have no ducks, I only like chicken. I've even wasted their time setting up an appointment, then at the very end I ask them what it is for over and over again. Then I ask them "whats that?". Wasting their time doesn't work, it only wastes my time. What I would really like to know if there is anyway to get the CRTC to stop these guys for good. I've considered giving them my address and when they show up I would block their vehicle and call 911, and then tell the cops how this company has been calling every single day for over two years.

I've been called 4 times in one week by this company.  We don't even have air ducts.  I've reported them 3 times to the CRTC.

They tell me that they're calling from Toronto, or once he said they are located in Scarborough and Mississauga (I'm in Ottawa btw).  They say that they'll be in my area tomorrow (really? tomorrow is Sunday!).  They've called at 8pm on weekdays, and now on a Saturday.

I've asked for them not to call each time, and we are on the NDNCL.

I have been repeatedly (2-3 times a week) called by a tele-marketing firm representing this company to have my air ducts cleaned.

1.  I am on the do not call list.
2.  I do not have any air-ducts.

I have informed the tele-marketer of both of these facts, and asked to be removed from the call list.   The number that appears on caller ID is for a number that is not in service.

On one call I finally decided to pretend I had air-ducts to see where it would lead.  After making the arrangements and being transferred to a supervisor to finalize the appointment, I then informed the 'supervisor' that I in fact had no ducts.   The 'supervisor' then became very agitated, obscene, threatened harm in the form of raping my wife and children, and vowed the calls would never stop.

Throughout all of this, the company that was supposed to do the duct-cleaning was never identified.

On the next call I once again went through the process and arranged to have my non-existent ducts cleaned.  The crew was to arrive at 6:00 on Thursday April 26, 2012.   As an interesting close to the telephone conversation, the tele-marketer 'suddenly' became self-aware that I was on the do-not-call list and feigned his apologies.

At 12:00 (noon) on April 26 2012, a white cube van pulled to the end of the driveway and a man came to my door.   He advised they were here to clean the ducts and when asked why he was 6 hours early he stated they had finished the previous job early.

I asked for a business card or some other identification and he provided me with a business card belonging to 'Toronto Breeze', tel: 416-894-5421.

Now that I knew who to complain about, I showed him the baseboard heater in my front hall and explained that I really, REALLY, did not require any duct cleaning services, and do not appreciate receiving harassing and threatening calls from a call centre that represents them.

They have been reported to the CRTC, BBB, this web site and I will post this info ANYWHERE it might be seen.

My one goal for the next short period is to crush this piece of trash outfit out of business.

Hey I have the best solution as I keep getting the calls.
1. find out the address of your local police station
2. when they call go through the process as if you are buying the package
3. refuse to give any personal information other than to book an appointment, give them a fake name and the address to the police department.

That way you waste their time and cost them some time and money!!!!!!! Have a little fun with them for a change!

**You Don't Know This** There are more than 45 duct cleaning companies working here in GTA only. Unfortunately all of them have a software called **VICI DIAL** that dials more than 200 numbers at the same time and shows the same number for every company that is 4168000240. They might take your number off their List But the next time you receive That is from another company. Most of them are operated by Indian/Pakistani Or Sri Lankan People ...

I suggest we make an appointment for duct cleaning and then have the police (if they'll come) greet them.  Something has to be done about this harrassment.  Since I am now beginning to get more and more information on the origin of the calls, I am going to keep better track and consider filing a law suit for harrassment.  The name Shaune Anderson as the owner with the phone number and address given above was also provided on another web site. The other one says it's "Top Notch Duct Cleaning" this one is "Top Line Duct Cleaning".  I'm sure this s.o.b. knows how angry and frustrated people are and is probably having a good laugh at our expense. He needs to be hit hard.

I did this.  They will have your address cause they get your name from a public directory.  What they don't have if you live in an apartment, is your unit number.  These people constantly call me and I tell them I live in an apartment but it doesn't matter they don't stop.  So each time they call me now I'm going to book them to come.  I'm would recommend others in my situation do the same.  I just turn my phone off at that time.

I have been having the same harrassing phone calls.  Last one from 416-800-0240. I have told them over and over to stop calling.  I have literally screamed at them.  I think they are doing it more as a joke to harrass people than to actually get business.  We should all make an appointment for them to come over to clean the ducts and then clean their ducts.  However I think that they will probably demand a credit card number in order to make the appointment - and this is where they'll get you.  My niece has the same problem.  Last night the guy was very rude to her and kept calling.  She called the police and the officer told her she has the same calls and suggested she unplug the phone for a while. She has two children who became scared at the constant harrassing calls.  I have written to the CRTC about other calls - windows and doors and they seem to have eased off.  I will now write to the CRTC and cc my MP. I suggest you all do the same.
