Called and said they are a Radio Station, 105.1. They asked me to answer a music question and as soon I answered correctly, the lady on the other line said that I won a vacation package and that another guy will call me in 10 minutes. Did not get any calls, so I called their number and was told that the number I was calling was a package company. Beware. Sign of scamming. But how can they use their own numbers? Crazy B***hes

I got this same call yesterday from the same heavy accent voice.  He kept trying to convince me that this was not a timeshare or scam.  I told him nothing comes for free and asked what was the condition I needed to meet. He said I had to go an office and listen to an explanation of what their company could offer me.  I quickly told him I believe it's similar to timeshare and that I wasn't interested. He kept saying "your not interested in free stuff" and "you don't believe me?" I told him I am a careful person not to allow anyone to sell me something that I am not interested in and asked for his name and telephone #. He said his name was Robert Brown at 905-581-0128.  I immediately believed this was not true because this name is not typical of a heavy Indian accent (not to be unfair).  I then researched via the internet and found this chat site.  The old story still rings true....nothing comes for free!

Just got a call from a woman with a VERY HEAVY INDIAN ACCENT. Same story as above, total scam. I asked her many times how she got my info, she kept on asking me if I REMEMBER FILLING OUT A BALLOT AT THE MARRIOTT HOTEL LAST YEAR. (yeah, I keep notes on such things!) Since I was very sceptical from the beginning the woman did not get far with me.
I was offered the TV, 1000, trips etc. When I asked if this is a timeshare she denied. I asked if this is a scam, she laughed and said no. WHen I asked if I have to come in for the presentation, she said no, but kept on talking about the "price ceremony"....bull.
At least I was sitting in front of the computer and read all your posts before proceeding further.
TOld her to remove my name and number and hung up.

I've received calls from these people before and asked them not to call. Today they started again. The listed phone number I received was 1-954-217-0000. THEY ARE A** HOLES, AND EAST INDIANS. Do not waste your time going there. You have to join there club to receive discounts on travel, cars, electronics, ect.

I recieved the same type of call from a man with an Indian accent.  They told me they were calling from National Grant Centre on belaf of a mall where my name was drawn from a ballot box.  THey told me the same types of things as the above reports.  He tried to get me and my spouse to come to the address in Woodbridge and wanted us to each bring two piece of ID.
Obviously I did not go.

Oh my god, I received the same call twice this week. Man named Roger said I won from a ballt draw, needed to go to Woodbridge to a prize ceremony, to claim and get a free lunch buffet. -Exact same story as per above! Eventually told me it would take 90 minutes, with a small presentation then I would get my prize. Was told I could lie about my age so I could claim my prize since I don't meet the required age 30-59 criteria...weird! I was tempted to go see this thing.

I received a call saying I had won a draw for prizes ranging from a plasma tv, $1000 cash, cruise and hotel stay. Was told I need to go to 216 Chrislea Rd, Suite 202 in Woodbridge Ontario to collect the prize. They had some personal information on me, but it was rather vague. I pressed a few times to get the name of the company and how they got my info, but the name was hard to understand (both men I spoke with had heavy accents) and they said the information was from a ballot.

When I did a reverse look-up on the phone number I was given it was from a private land line in Toronto, different location than the Chrislea address. The only information available is that the line is provided by Iristel.

This seems similar to similar calls people reported receiving in May 2008.

What you don't realize is that these losers call and deliberately misrepresent (and speak poor english) why they are calling.  They don't tell you it is a 90 minute (or whatever it is) presentation that you have to listen to, they pretend that your chances of getting 1 of these prizes is equal, and they just annoy everyone by pretending that you actually won something.  At least some of the others are up front with the fact that there is a 90 minute 'presentation'.  This is like saying that con-artists shouldn't just be negatively dismissed, they provide a value.  These people are robbing the unaware of half their day or more...

Hey Guys Lets Not Be Rude To Those Peoples THere Are Juz Doing THEIR JOB AND tHE PRIZES THAT THEY TALK ABOUT ARE REALLY FREE. I JUST RECENTLY WENT DOWN TO THAT THAT ADDRESS WHICH THEY GAVE AND I REALLI LIKED IT. SO MY ADVISE TO PEOPLE OUT THERE, NEVER JUDGE A PERSON BY THEIR VOICE OR THEIR ACCENT. LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY AND BE STRAIGHT UP WITH THEN. IF YOU SMELL SCAM THEN LET THEM KNOW. AND IF YOU THINK THEY BAD ACCENT LET THEM NO. DUN BE COWARDS...WRITING EVERYTHING OVER LIKE LIL BABIES...I'M SURPRISED TO SEE THAT PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH TIME TO WRITE STUFF ON THE INTERNET BUT NO ONE WOULD WANNA HEAR WHAT THOSE POOR PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY.

Same phone call. Heavy Indian accent, told me I won all this stuff. I had to go to 216 Chrislea Rd. in Woodbrigde, ON. I was to wait on the line to wait for his supervisor. I smell crap, so I hung up and he tried calling me 3 or 4 times after, and then it stopped!

Received a call from this number (416-800-1707) this evening - June 11.  Must be the same man - a heavy East Indian accent.  There was a lot of background noise, which he said was the TV (a telemarketer with a TV in the background?)  Two disturbing elements: first, he said he was calling on behalf of Marriott Hotels.  This is the only reason I listened, Marriott being a reputable organization.  The other concern is that he knew my name and part of my address.  Same spiel about prizes, Woodbridge, etc.  When he asked if I was married and I said it was none of his business, he hung up abruptly.  Can anything be done to trace and disconnect this man's phone?

I got a call also from a gentleman with a thick indian accent who said his name was Roger and that I won a Victoria Secret gift prize worth $1000 and that I filled out the form from a mall in my area (of course) He actually started to reciet personal information and that is when I questioned his credibility. The more questions I asked the more frustrated he was and kept on saying "what you don't want the prize?"
I asked for his name and number because it came up unknown and because I knew it was a scam. And behold others with similar scenarios. Oh and yes he said that I would have to go pick it up in a location in Woodbridge.

I got the same call from 416-800-1707 (ext 445), the guy said he's William Shafer (not 100% sure I got the name correctly). He said he was calling from Consumer Center from Buffalo(US). Five prizes, etc. I don't believe in free stuff, but where is the fraud here?
What do you mean by "sell you timeshare".

received a call from 416-800-1707 from a person with a thick Indian accent.  I was first told I had to got to New York to pick up a package that I won and, after preying s'more, was told I had to got to an address in Woodbridge Ontario for a prize ceremony.  I had a choice of 1 of 5 prizes ranging from an RCA big screen TV to a Florida vacation package.  The miniumum that I had won was $1000 CDN.  I was vaguely told that my name was drawn from a hand written ballot that had been submitted in 2007 either a gas station, shopping mall, etc., etc, ... but never told specifically where.  in order to claim my prize, I had to make an appointment for a "prize ceremony".  Was given 2 times (which was inconvenient for me) and mysteriously another time just opened up.  Sounds like someone trying to sell you timeshare
