No one's going to protect you from these calls.  GET AN ANSWER MACHINE, and don't answer the phone personally.

In my case, they got my number from a city councillor, an Irish idiot son of a deceased local police captain, who wants to become a mafia-like chieftain in my neighborhood.

By harassing me, he wants to drive me out of my home and manipulate the sale of my property to a local.  A relatively new arrival to our shores, a bare handed, toliet cleaning Azorean--a wondderefule family.  

The Azorean padre is criminally insane; his wife is a maniac,his two sons are fast-tracked to prison , and his daughter is bound for and early pregnacy and the EBT card, food assistance.  I'll chip-in in state taxes to pay for these ne'er-do-wells and their idiot offspring.

Consider yourselves lucky that you do not live in East Cambridge, MA.  It's run like an old mob-controlled area.  If I complain, the neighbors call the police on me, and before you know it, plain-clothes thug- morons cops are on the spot, lickety split.

Here the city police motto is, "We Answer the Phone and Drive Around.  We making the the Bucks, Ha Ha.

called back the number, seemingly a msg said that this line is disconnected due to fraud.

Okay that's cool just to waste my time.

Answered and no one there. This seems like telemarketer. Then man with accent asks if I want insurance. I said no thanks goodbye and hung up. Blocking call.

These people are completly dishonest, and the scum of the earth, but they are often trying to get (albeit dishonestly) leads for legitimate businesses.  What happens is companies here pay these offshore scumbags to call, call call, in order to get leads.   That's why people mention that the call is for various businesses.  The call I got was for Sun Life.  It will be some Sun Life agent will of hired them to cold call for them.  Since they are overseas they aren't bound by the DNC list.
What's the best way to get companies to stop using these services?
Accept their service every time.  Have the business come to your door for a wasted trip, and tell them that you wanted to find out who it really is that's calling.  
With enough trips for nothing, the Canadian customers of these scumbag telemarketing firms will stop using them.

Scam caller....

I got call from this number and person started yelling without reason with bad mouth. I have reported the incident to CRTC. Everyone to follow this and report.

Am in Toronto. They called today claiming to Marshall be from Sun Life. I could hear the boiler room operation in the background. I asked why he was calling if I am not a SunLife customer, and on the DNC List. He said they follow the CRTC regulations but his do not call list was out of date. I replied that I had been on the list for several years and asked to speak to his supervisor. He became flustered and hung up.I called back and got a msg that the mail box was full. I then called SunLIfe Security and reported the call.

I just got a call from this number. My machine answered and they hung up. Judging by the comments here, who ever is calling is running some kind of scam.

My wife and I are both sick in bed and at ten this morning we received a call and just let it ring they just keep calling over and over if you have rogers one you can block them for free which we are going to do but we should have to these guys have been doing this a long time you think they would have been stopped by now

I just got a call from these guys too. He said he was calling from "Internet Service Providings", and asked if I wanted to switch my providings to a provider that provides better service of internet. I could barely understand him and told him he had to work on his english, and that he should say "internet provider" instead of providings but he got upset and said he could speak english just fine. I even spoke to his manager, but he was just as bad!

Which other phone number did I read the same response for, in fact, several answers here are identical to another phone number I just looked up.  Sooo....how reliable are these websites where people claim to have received a phone call???????????

Why wait for a second call?  You should report any threat the first time.  Nothing can be done immediately but a file will be created and eventually something may be done if there are enough complaints.

The guy with an indian accent tell me that I am not on the DNCL . Trying to sell manulife insurance. Calls me back 4 times.

I received a call from 416-907-0582 and when I redialed the number it went to a voice mail that was full.

just got called by this number 5 mins ago, caller had very heavy east indian accent, couldn't understand what he was saying. I told him i was busy now and no interested in their service/offer whatever... hung up

Yes the indiain man keep call y phone and saying.he is with.life insurance i hang up.and he kept on calling like 5 times omg....then he told me he going f*** me then ask me about my husband...very rude ppl.

This number has called me several times.  Today it was as "sunlife" when I said no thank you and I am on the DNC, please update your records, they hung up.  Same idiot called me asking about duct cleaning and was extremely rude to me.  This should not be allowed, and I am going to do something about it.

Got a call this afternoon.  They asked when i was gonna die.  So i said i dont know.  When are you gonna die ?  They asked if i would be home tomorrow,  so that they could come and kill me.  I called the cops.

Third world mushmouth losers whining for Sunlife.  Is a scam.  Telephone service should be disconnected to third world countries.  No one is interested in what they have to say anyway.

I've answered this call and some guy with a strong Indian accent tried to arrange a visit to my home saying they were from  Sun Life. These people are professional scams, Just don't answer.

I receive call from this number several times.  I open with a German salutation and there is no reply and I hang up right away.  Tried  canada 411 and comes up as invalid or no person has that number.  Thanks fr info everybody!
