Have been called by this number twice today.  Answered both times, said "hello" but got no response so hung up.  After the second call I decided to check here to see if there was any info on this number.

several calls, no message

Number showing on caller ID: 416-999-4930. Some kid from software maker "Sage", selling Timeslips (a time and billing software) called and left a very long winded message about some deal on upgrading to the next Timeslips version. That same 416 area code has called before, but this is the first time he left a message. Call quality was very bad. He gave a call back number that was an 888 number instead of the one he was calling from.

Sent call to VM.  Left VM verifying my registration for a technology seminar I registered for online.

SCAM!!!

Called my cell 3 times.  When answered, no one there.  Scammers, hung up quick, because I think if you stay on the phone they can get access to your phone #'s, or personal info.  What a world we live in today.

Nothing but silence after picking up the call.

I let it go to VM - it was an apparently prerecorded message for an IBM event.

Got a call at 1:01PM today.. No one on the other end.. silence.  Thought it was my headset, switched to handset and still silence.  BS call.

I get a call almost daily from this number. When I pick up, no one is there.

Received call this afternoon.  A girl asked for someone who has not worked for our company in over 15 years.  I told her the person that she asked with is no longer with the company and asked if there was something I could  help her with.  She asked if anyone took over the person she asked for's duties and I told her that I did and again asked if there was something I could help her with.  She said sorry, I didn't realize and hung up.

No you didnt.

I receieved a call 3 days in a row and no one on the other end.  Hung up...

I received three calls in a row within minutes of each other.
Call 1: I answered and nobody responded and I hung up.
Call 2: I answered and nobody responded.  I tried a few hellos before hanging up.
Call 3: they said is this <my name>?
          I said yes and they hung up.

received two calls about 24 hrs apart.   Nothing but dead air.   I left the line open and muted for about 5 minutes before they finally dropped.

This same number just called me, no one answered on the other line and was just silence, I could clearly hear someone on the other end but wasn't talking. Eventually the caller hung up as I waited in silence for a response for about 5 minutes. Probably a scam.

So how do you like your job with these scammers???

I second the assessment a couple of posts above about it being a 3rd party call center whose objective is to leave voicemail only. I answered the first call today and got silence. The second call went to voicemail. In this case, it was from a company called IFS North America, an enterprise software company, not unexpected in my case. The msg regarded a promotional package being mailed to me. The message left an 888 callback #, which does route to IFS North America.

But who knows who's calling you...

Called 3 times so far today, dead air every time.  Trying to call back gets a message that this number is not enabled to receive calls or something to that effect.

Judging by previous posts and my own experience it seems like a third party call center that uses this number which is used by legitimate companies like vmware and verisign for selling and event reminders and that their only objective is to leave you a voice mail. Which is an odd service but works. I'd say don't pick up the phone and just let it go to voice mail and see what you get.

Been receiving calls to my work number by this one, but it's getting kind of obvious that either it is an automated system or an idiot.  I don't care which.  I don't answer the calls since I don't know them.  They've never left a message.

Found a message on my voice mail from VMware to invite me to a webinar I had absolutely no interest in.

Calls and hangs up when you answer. No idea what it is about.

We just received a call from this number 416-999-4930 as well.  FIrst time was a missed call with no message, second time was this morning & asked to speak one of our former employees (hasn't been with us for some time). ; they called our main number.
Caller - "can I speak to xxxx?"
Resp - "xxxx is no longer with us, can I help you?"
Caller - "is there a replacement?"
Resp - "yes"
Caller immediately hung up the phone.  
We are in US and call was very clear ... but VERY bizarre.

The called me twice. Annoying.

Basically the same as above.  They called 2 times at 8:10 pm ish tonight.  I answered this is Dan and there was silence both times.  Phone shows  416-999-4930 Ontario, Canada
