Actually, they do. It's part of a new campaign to retain cardholders who aren't using their card very often, and may have other cards with other companies. I used to work at their Springfield Call Center, and I can assure you, this number is valid.

I got a call from this number twice in the past 2 days.  I didn't answer either time, once because I didn't have the phone with me and the other because I was already in another call.  I called it back after the 2nd call and got a machine menu system that gave me 3 choices (I don't remember what order they were in):
a. enter an extension #  to be transferred to
b. request that my number be added to a do-not-call-list
c. transfer to card member services.

I hit the card member services choice.  I got a very crappy sounding and very short recording offering me a proper number to call to get card member services and then was disconnected abruptly.

Got called by them on my cell. Since they never leave a message, I just added the number on my phone's ignore list so it doesn't ring. And since they never leave a message, I will never know that they called and I don't have to wait 30 days - easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

Call from JP Morgan Chase bank. They called to enquire why I closed their Chase credit card and how they could reinstate it. It was pretty much a sales call.

Got called to landline phone. When I answered, it took 8 seconds to hear a voice. It is a sign that the call was made by computer on massive calls until a call answered, then the computer routed the call to one of the "agents" at their end. It (the delay) immediately raises my suspeciion.  This guy asked to talk with my daughter as her Chase credit card.

This person got her name correct, but she has her cell phone.  When I said I wanted to know what is about the credit card (big purchase, abuse or whateer), this guy did not want to want to answer, just repeatedly saying he is from Chase Bank.  I hang up on him, rather than let him call back.  I asked my daughter to call the number on the back of her credit card.

Later, I checked the phone call log, got this caller's phone number.  I am glad that I found this 800notes.

Regards,
TSL

This number calls my home all the time---called my credit card company and they said it was a fishing scam to try and get your personal information---they said they would NEVER contact you directly over the phone about these things

I just called Chase and they did not call me but I received a call from this number.  It is not legitimate...fortunately I did not give them any information..They had my name but I immediately questioned why she was calling.  She said she wanted to make sure I was happy.  I questioned and she said I could call the number on the back of the card to see if it was legitimate.  Chase does not call to see if you are a satisfied customer????????

My accounts are closed with them do to their insistence in raising interest rates to ridiculous levels for no reason (accounts are still in good standing). Don't think there would be a need to call me 'loyal' as I told them to close the account.

You're wrong honey, they DO have a call center in Springfield (417 area code), their number is coming up correctly.  Only the credit card company is going to refer you to the number on the back of the card--it's real. Otherwise they would say to call 800-xxx-xxxx and have that call routed to themselves. They also have people answering your calls in Mumbai India, SanAntonio TX, Orlando FL (payment issues)...all those people in all those call centers could potentially get your call, depending on time you're calling and their call volume (call centers allocate certain percentages of calls between them to handle volume).  That's why you can't call and ask for the girl who helped you so well last time you called:  you're not guaranteed to get that same center every time.  Do people in Orlando necessarily know the phone info (area code and prefix, for example) for other areas?  That's why NO ONE on this forum can get consistent answers. The company is too big and logistically that would be a nightmare to publish every possible number they might call from, considering how many phone lines a call center has.  THINK about it.  :)

Right! If you do business or have past business (any balance whatsoever), they have the right to call you.  Imagine if someone borrowed money from you and then stopped taking your calls.  Not cool.  At least tell them to drop all fees and interest charges and pay back what you borrowed.  Or tell them they're not getting any money from you, but answer their calls and they will stop calling.

It's a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.  Trust me,  I answered those calls from people about receiving calls from unknown numbers ALL THE TIME, and no, for awhile, I did not realize it was indeed an internal number.  Honestly, people from one department or another may have info but due to lack of  email between phone agents, info gets conveyed slowly if at all.  Trust me, if you pay your credit cards off monthly and don't pay fees, they will NOT allow for waiver of those fees. Only if you revolve a balance are they making money off of you so then and only then do they allow for interest/fee waivers, and the rule is, once every six months. They categorize people into profitable or non-profitable.  That's what determines that.  They don't tell you how to save money on interest if you do a balance transfer, they're not up front about that type of thing, BUT, honestly, we were encouraged to be forthcoming if asked.

This number has been calling here repeatedly.  I finally answered it today.  The person asked for my husband, although mis-pronounced our last name.  He asked for when was a better time to call, since my husband was not at home at the time of the call, I told him.  Then I said, is there a problem, b/c my husband does have a Chase account.  He said, there is no problem, this is not a collection call, and we're not selling anything.  So, I say, why call?  smh.

It is not fraud; This is a number from Springfield, MO that Chase uses in their Outbound Loyalty Services Department. It is the job of this department to contact customers and ensure that their card is meeting their needs and discuss any benefits/rewards related to this card. They will NOT ask for personal information, and they ARE legitimate employees of Chase.

Received a call from this number at 8:40 PM. I don't own a chase card but if it is chase, isn't it a little too late in the night to make telemarketing calls? I also received 3 other calls about 30 minutes earlier but was unable to get the phone numbers. They didn't leave a message.

Got a call from 417-225-4000 today (10/05/2011) at about 11:30 am (CHASE USA was the caller ID). Went online an got a number (1-800-432-3117) for Chase from their website and called them. They said there was no record of that number and it was not theirs. They also had no record of any calls to me on any account they had for me. They said next time pick up the call and see what they wanted but not give out any info about myself or my accounts. Then they might could do something but this number is not theirs. So I say this is some type of fruad.

I have been receiving calls from this number for weeks. The caller I.D. says Chase USA. I finally called my credit card company to see if it was really them. They have not been calling me. This is a scam. The lady called back the next day and I told her I knew she was a scam and to leave me alone. Now I have had 10 hang up calls from a cell phone in the last two days! Chase told me to report it to my local Police Department as harassment!
