I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.
Call hung up like most of them. From the above comments, sounds like yet another "BingGoogleYahoo!" search engine telescammer. None of these scammers work for those companies, they are just using the company names to try and steal money from people. I listed this as a prank call because "scam call" or "telescammer" were not available choices.

This number, plus many others, is used by scamming telemarketers, possibly offshore, so they can ignore the DNC list. All calls are robo dialed, and you cannot reach a human, just voicemail. Only if you sound innocent and stupid will you get a call back, and they will hang up on you as soon as you ask for identifying information.

417 800-2338 and 417 800-2305 both claim to be a google service. Google does not cold call people. An attempt to contact a human always results in a voice mail box. This appears to be a boiler room operation supporting shady business practices.

Buy a call blocking phone or device. They work and they are inexpensive. Save your sanity and put these CRIMINALS out of business!

These criminals called me at 1:27pm on Martin Luther King Day, 2013. I tried to reach through the phone and break their scrawny sewage-filled necks; but I had to settle for wishing they become the victim of a drive-by shooting, in which they live, but are confined to a wheel-chair for the rest of their lives... unable to hear, see, or smell.
So, if you are the Piece of Garbage running this scam, and by some incredible stroke of luck, my wish for you comes true, please call me back to let me know. I promise I'll answer the phone if it means hearing of your misfortune.

4 more calls to report, quite the variety of nonsense names and numbers, most being new to my rotation of annoyance. And I love getting early morning calls almost every day too:
417-800-2305 @ 2013-01-09 09:00am - INS (new for me)
541-981-4228 @ 2013-01-10 09:25am - 5419814228 (new for me)
206-496-0929 @ 2013-01-10 02:23pm - ANNOUNCEMENT (previously WINNER)
614-569-2782 @ 2013-01-11 01:55pm - SERVICE DEPT (new for me)
I suspect these may be part of the same scam organization that stuck my number in their auto-dialer over nine months ago and has been harassing me ever since. More detail and numbers that have been bombarding me with calls are listed in my posts here:

Philip Roth likened tooth loss to a fear of castration, observing it was difficult for men in particular. There's a lesson here, kids, protect your pearlies. Don't eat strange candy.
