Received a call from "HOME SECURITY, my answering machine got it. Caller ID showed "HOME SECURITY".

They left a long-winded BS message about a "...free security system in your house at ABSOLUTELY no cost to you. We just put a small sign in your front yard." The rest of the message was not recorded.

Have received two other calls from same ID and Ph number.

I always do star and 60 to block phone numbers. The home security number for some reason the recording tells me that this number is already on my blocked list! How could this be possible, i don't understand?
Anyways, whenever i reach 30#s, i remove them from my list and start all over again with blocking numbers.

FBI reporting home break in scam!  I am so freaking sick of being woken up (I work odd hours and can not for reasons turn off my phone) by this harassing criminal caller!   Why does the Do Not Call or FCC...  "EVER" do anything to stop these "CRIMINALS"?

You should be able to block any crud with UNAVAILABLE or HOME SECURITY or BANK CARD on Caller ID. The phone company swine need these telemarketers THAT badly?

How about a class action lawsuit to force the phone companies to take action?

Why is it that Panasonic and others that sell phones don't seem to be allowed to block an entire area code, just 50 specific numbers? Phone company pressure?

I know this number belongs to a spammer telemarketer I don't know anyone at all in Nevada or do any business there  so why should I answer it. I wish the do not call list worked so these bottom feeders could be dumped in a deep lake. There are days when I am so pestered by these goofballs that I want to cancel my phone service and I have had issues with my cell so O want to go back to smoke signals

I've also received call from this number and others. As of sometime late last year, using fake number on a caller ID became unlawful. It is now a Federal violation. Give as much info as you can to the FTC as they have supposedly started to go after these companies.

At least this call was a little more imaginative than the other 50 or so security scammer calls that I get per month...

"Because you have been on time with all of your payments, you now qualify for a free alarm system...  Knowing that pressing 2 to be removed was a waste of time, I pressed 1 to speak to a rep.

Desiree seemed to be a bit startled when I called her a telemarketer crack w***e...

Bitching about these calls here is good to let other people know that this is a scammer number but does nothing toward getting the scammers shut down.

REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.  Report all telemarketing calls to the FTC and your local DNC authority.  I am unconvinced that they are doing anything meaningful but at least it is official documentation.

Contact your state and federal congress persons about having the telephone tariffs changed to stop the Caller ID dipping fees.  Stop the dipping fees and the telemarketing calls will slow if not stop.

I called them back (using my own VOIP):

The number they are using -417-800-2360- is actually -800-417-2360-

They are listed as agents for usaultimatebenefits.com
They want $1.95 on your credit card and they PROMISE to send you coupons that you can find in any valuepack from the newspaper. What a rip-off.

These people love to use VOIP or spoofed numbers; but often they will also use a real number -- of course if you call it back from your number they file it as an active and log it to their system.
My little trick is to call them back using a VOIP number myself. My Blackberry (No, I am not a salesperson or rep, VOIP applications are also available elsewhere) has an free VOIP application I downloaded that I use to call them back with. VOIPs are near impossible to track (it took the Indian government 18 days to track a terrorist phone call, and I don't think these guys have those levels of resources), they don't have your information, and if my application is not turned on they just get a busy or disconnect message.
When I call them back, I can safely poll for information (press the numeric options without regard), chat-up a real person (if available), or just finalize my determination that the number is fake.
Hope it helps you, if not, then maybe you can just have fun bugging them back.

Sources for VOIP:
Mobile devices have many applications to download.
You can also do it from your PC (traceback safety level is high -- again, they don't have the resources of a government) with software found at sourceforge dot net (a free and reliable repository of software for all sorts of things).
Google and a few other companies have free VOIP services you can sign-up for and use (pseudonyms, always use pseudonyms).

Monitronics ROBO call.  Caller ID read "Nevada MO" Today one call each to landline and cell phone from "Security Promotions in Dallas TX.  After Pressing 1 on cell, a male computer voice came on line, asked Qs, transferred call to a Dan at Security Promotions, who refused to provide a street address and who hung-up when asked for the written DNC policy. I was outside and couldn't recall name of computer voice, lots of street noise, but it was not the infamous "'Tom' from Home Security."

I received an automated call. The caller ID provided the number 417-800-2360 and read "Home Security". When I called the number back I received an automated response to push any number to not receive any more calls. I pushed a number but did not get any type of confirmation. I am on the do-not-call list. I filed a complaint at: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints It's the only way to get these scammers to stop.
