Today I made a reservation at a Holiday Inn Express and then they asked if they could connect me  to someone because now I am a club member.  I said yes, and I was offered 4 days and 3 nights at a resort of my choice for 199.99 and after taking a tour I would get 100.00 cash.  That sounded pretty good but I had just put over 200.00 on my credit card.  She then offered me 150.00, 175.00 and then the full 199.99 cash back.  I caved as I've been wanting to go back to Epcot.  Now I'm having buyer's remorse, wondering if I did the right thing and trying to find out what the law says about a time period when you can cancel if you were solicited over the phone.

I made a reservation at the Holiday Inn and got transferred to these guys. They were pretty desperate to sell their vacation package. I just signed on to priority club and read their terms and conditions. They are allowed to give your personal information off to their buddies... I just called priority club to get them to delete my account. After 20 minutes of classical music, an automated voice asked me to press 1 of I wanted to fill out a survey. I didn't, and 10 or 15 seconds later, they hung up on me. Avoid.

ok so I am so irritated to be getting so many calls from telemarketers.  So this is what I did....

I called back and put my phone on mute and listened to these telemarketers answer over and over again. Yes, I finally had time on my hands at around 10:00, so if you choose to do the same, I would suggest it because its fun.....

clinton marten - hello caller....hello....................

dustan camble - hung up

johnathan - hello... (but all other times just hung up)

(man) dankin rice - Hello..(Kinda nice)

Thats what I recorded.  There are about three others. Eventually they immediately disconnected my phone, Or I spend a long time on hold and just eventually hung up. (the wait time was 19 seconds the entire time)

Regardless of "previous business relationship" if you are told or asked not to call again, BY LAW you have to abide by that!  But of course we all know a SHILL when we hear it.

Yes we are compliant with all telephone sales laws. We are allowed to contact you because you have done prior business with us. If you ASK to be placed on the DNC list we will gladly take care of it and tell you about the process. Also, we would only contact you on your work number if that is the number that you left with us as a contact number. I say get a grip because you assume that every telemarketer out there has the same thing in mind-scam, scam, scam. And it is not the case with many companies. All we ask is for a simple "Thank you for your time and effort". We don't call to ruin your day or harass you or anything of the sort, in fact the systems that we operate run on an automatic dialing system so we have no control over the numbers we call. We are doing our jobs just like you do yours.

You may not be a "scam", but if you are going to intrude on people's lives with high pressure telemarketing, you probably deserve to fail.  Especially given the horrendous reputation of the timeshare industry.

Are you DNC and TCPA compliant?  What is your training regarding compliance with these laws?  If I simply hang up on you will you call back?  How frequently do you call a no-answer number?

Are you aware that saying, "get a grip" has a high index of correlation with disingenuous posts?

Okay guys, seriously I work for this company. Holiday Inn Club Vacations is a fairly new branch of holiday inn. We sell vacation packages to 4 different destinations for an awesome rate and are very much NOT a scam. Try this website, www.hicvacations.com . That is the website for OUR vacations. It outlines the details, gives a link to the BBB page with OUR information. Seriously I know that bad things happen out there but not EVERYTHING is to good to be true....Get a grip.

I have accepted the offer and give them my credit card information. I am a foreigner and just came to us for weeks, after I called to reserve a car from hertz, hertz switched me over to this call. I just trusted Hertz, is it a scam? what should I do now?
They have sent me a confirmation email. they also provided me a website for the details: http://www.hicvrewards.com/hertz/
They told me they will charge me $199 for deposit and I will get the money back after I take the 2hours sales presentation. I pasted the confirmation email content here for you to help me:

I got calls from this number for more than 10 times last month. I cannot recognize the area code, so I did not pick up the phone call in the beginning. But they kept calling, so I picked it up this morning, talked with the lady for more than 5 minutes, and then told them I just don't buy what they are telling me. After I said that I just don't believe what she is telling me,  she hung up. I hope she will never call again.

Extreme HIGH pressure! Kept me on the phone for 16 minutes and 40 seconds. I tried not to be rude and just hang up, but finally had no choice. Claims to have been Holiday Inn Vacation Club. This harassment and bad experience has made me decide to avoid Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express in the future.

I too surfed the Internet while on the phone and thoroughly checked out what I was being offered. I also politely declined long enough to get the $149 price.

But I would STILL consider this a SCAM because they sell you on the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Resort (either the one in Orlando or the one in Gatlinburg), but book you at a regular Holiday Inn nearby (in my case Pigeon Forge). At no point while speaking with the sales rep did he tell me that I would NOT be staying at the Resort. They carefully mentioned all the things to do in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Probably so that when a different rep verifies the call (you know that 15 second mandatory recorded verification call) and says Pigeon Forge you don't realize that they've pulled the rug out from under you.

This is classic Bait & Switch marketing and I can't believe I fell for it. The other reviewers are right... NEVER make a decision like this over the phone. Unless you already live near Gatlinburg or Orlando and just feel like a 3 night stay at a Holiday Inn would be amusing.

I picked up the phone and a guy said he was looking for Mark. I told him he must have dialed a wrong number. He then repeated my number and asked if that was my number. I said, yes. Then he said, OK, how about giving me your name instead. I hanged up the phone. Obviously he tried to get my personal information and pretending he dialed a wrong number. Cheap trick.

She claimed to be from Holiday Inn and had the same deal others have described.

I politely refused and asked to have my number removed from their list which she said she would do.
