This is BGSU raising money. Tell them to remove you from their calling list and they will stop calling you from their automated system.

So I just recently found out that the BGSU Telefund is not actually taking people's numbers off the list. They just stop calling for that semester and will call you the next semester. What is the legality of this? If I don't want them to call me, how can I make it stop? Can I sue or pursue legal mitigation?

I am not an alum. Please stop calling me.

They have been relentless.  Calling nearly once a day for the last several months.  It is indeed the BG Alumni Office - I picked up the phone the first time they called and luckily was walking in to a meeting and had to put them off.  But now they won't stop.  You would think they would take the hint after a while.

If you would like to be removed from this calling list or have an issue to report, contact BGSU's alumni association at (888)-839-2586 or email alumni@bgsu.edu. I did this and spoke to two different staff members who were very understanding and helpful.

The BGSU Telefund is staffed by students. They do go through a lot of training, but as always, there are a few bad apples. If you report the issue, BGSU can identify which callers need more training, or possibly need to find employment elsewhere, better suited to their skills.

It'd be nice if they would not call at random times in the evening or morning. I have given you $100,000 don't give me a sob story about money. In regards to the post of a former telefund worker, the reason these people are pissed is because of the time as excessiveness of the calls. It is just rude to bug alumni for funds we have already provided. Bowling Green has plenty of money and if they are running low on funds maybe they shouldn't have spent $50,000,000 on the sports arena and an art facility. Just a little ridiculous.

I am a very patient person, always "kind & nice" - don't have to be told to act that way.  I have been receiving these calls for at least 6 months now ... thankfully they all come in late in the evening when I am not here.  FYI - I am not an alumni and I do not have any connection to BGSU.  You say have this number added to the "do not call" list?  This is a business number and should not be on their phone list in the first place.  Besides, our corporation is located about 10 miles north of BGSU and gives/donates heavily to the University and we have plenty of alumnis working here.  So, please, stop the calls!

I too have been called on my cell from this number, so I g'ed it and found all of you here. Some of you are recent grads, some a bit older, and some no affiliation at all. And most everyone upset...

To the students and recent grads...good luck, and keep at it. Things will get better in your lives if you work hard, and later you may understand that BGSU was a wonderful time...many of the older Alumni may not feel like getting telemarketing calls and some may be giving to BGSU in other venues that actually target the students, and not just the buildings and admin. Remember that it's hard to teach and learn in out-dated facilities. God bless your bright future.

To my fellow older Alumni...some students are working in telemarketing for student aid. It's easy to look down on them, isn't it? When I applied for Student Aid, I didn't want a "loan", I wanted a job on campus that could help pay my living expenses. I was grateful for the hours that I got working in the Media Center and Audio/Visual Department. I'm glad that my work allowed me time to study. A lot of students don't get that...like these student workers stuck on a telephone bank. They already having a bad day without listening to you carp back at them. Would you talk to your child that way? My child worked at a telemarketing firm while in college, and I had the chance to hear what he went through. Appalling behavior from alleged adults.

To those not affiliated with BGSU...ask to talk to a supervisor the next time you're called. Inform the supervisor that you wish to be taken off all of their phone lists. Then make sure that you are on the Do Not Call registry. If you are called again, you can report the call at the same website that you registered a little further down the page.

Patience is a virtue, and kindness to a stranger doesn't cost you a penny.

I'm a BGSU alum... and since that time, I shortened by name, lived out of state in 2 different states, multiple different phone numbers and somehow they find my cell number after 25 years???

I keep getting them too.  Guess what BGSU, I'm still paying my student loans, and surprise! being a teacher doesn't pay much! I'm broke! LOL

I just got a call from this number (8 PM EST) and they asked for, get this, my ex-husband's new wife.  Um, not sure how they got MY number as she's the alum.  Very weird.

I will never give this school money. They would be better off to go broke and close their doors!  Horrible!

I'm a BGSU alumni and I'll tell you right now, they won't get a cent out of me. Why?

BGSU spews all this garbage about a personal experience and faculty who care, how they help with job placement, etc.

NOT! I graduated in 2010 and was unemployed for a year, and when I finally got a job it was absolutely NO thanks to them, had nothing to do with my degree and I make crap money. FURTHERMORE, when I was three credit hours (ONE CLASS) short of graduating, they made me run around in circles for AN ENTIRE SEMESTER EXTRA trying to get into the class I needed while every single person I contacted ignored me or sent me to someone else. Yeah, very helpful. Guess how much debt I racked up then? Even in a crappy economy, excuse me if I expect the university I already gave thousands and thousands of dollars to (for only half of classes that were actually worth anything and a giant waste of money on textbooks that most professors NEVER USED), to help me figure something out.

So now, I am busting my butt working night shift at a job I hate, living paycheck to paycheck and barely making ends meet and this is all absolutely NO thanks to the time I wasted at BGSU.

No money for you, BGSU. Ever. And don't any of you even try to argue that the "generous donations" go toward anything resembling assistance for the students. BGSU is too busy replacing buildings that don't need to be replaced and screwing students out of tuition money to run them (Stroh Center ring a bell, anyone?).

I am a BG alumni, and a regular donator to my PhD program at BGSU.. I get this call very frequently, and have never had anyone answer.. It DOES occur at really irregular hours, as late as 9:30PM for me.. It is very annoying; and if someone would have answered when I picked up I may have given money.. Just wanted to make the point that not wanting annoying late phone calls does not mean someone is selfish or hates their alma mater.. I loved BGSU but I am a bit annoyed by this.

I get calls from this number several times a week. If we don't answer, they do not leave a message.  If we do answer, they immediately hang up.  It's unfuriating.  Not to mention, a really bad way to get donations!  It's very hard to be nice when they have hung up on me numerous times - after I took the time to run to the phone to answer it.  Did I mention I have 2 infants and answering the phone in and of itself of a real feat?

Just give them the money they want and it will probably stop!

I am not a BG alum. My daughter is a student there. When she's an alum they can call her. Until then, I am on the DNC list - for all the good it does me.

They have been calling me for 39 years and I have told them many many times to take me off the list.  I even told them I would report them and they still call.  Give me a break, 39 years?  I will NEVER give them anything.  I will report them.  I even called and told them that on a message, why won't they stop?

I am *not* a BG alumni and this number keeps calling my phone.  Very annoying!

I have gotten 3 calls, 6:40, 8:20 and 9:00.... I called it back to see and it just rang and rang. Yes I am a BG alumni and that is a BG campus number for sure.

Really, they are annoying and most are hang ups. Please take me off of this list, or let me know how I can get that done.

No one living here is an alumni of Bowling Green Universityn so I question why I'm being targeted?  I'd appreciate it if they would sod-off!

How much kool aid have you drank exactly?  I've gotten two degrees from BGSU and am working on my third.  You are working for an organization that gathers money, solely for the purpose of paying administrative fees and administrative employees.  I guarantee you not 1 cent ever goes to a student.  BGSU gets huge donations, what happens?  They go to creating new sports buildings while the University at large faces a 12 million dollar shortfall and is in the process of removing various instructor positions.

And no!  It is not your right to harass me EVERY SINGLE NIGHT at dinner time.  Ask to be removed you may say, well I have done that also.  FOUR TIMES!

I've been phone calls from this place nearly every day for several weeks now. I've never answered the phone, since I don't recognize the number, but it's gotten to stalker-ish levels. Glad to read that it's just the BGSU telefund. I'll be blocking their number!

They've called my cell phone 10 times in the past month and never left a message. That's why it's annoying.

Apparently they have your cell number as the main phone number for you. If you don't know the number, you don't have to answer it. I'm a BGSU alumni and giving even $5 would help in some small way for your alma mater.

I am a BG alumni...they are trying to get donations! Give me a break! It's an automated system...how creative and sincere! I gave all my money to them already anyway...see where that got me...I'm writing obnoxious post about their number!
