Got a call from this # with a 4 in front of it. I felt like playing along, so I answered. Male with a heavy middle eastern accent asked for me by name, then said his name is William (yeah, right). Told me I qualified for a government grant. Asked if I knew what a grant is. I said I don't want one and he said ok and I hung up.

They phone asked  for me by name.  I could hardly understand him - so much background noise - like in a mall - I told him I was hanging up.
About 5 minutes later, I get a call again from his supervisor - said they were from Woodstock,Ontario - they said they were from BDO -
He was very agressive - told him again I was hanging up again, do not call again.
See what happens.

They asked for my husband by name. I said he wasn't here. I asked who is calling. did not reply. they asked if I was mrs.xxx. I said yes, who is calling. no answer. I asked again. no answer. I hung up

Got a call from a guy with an Indian or Pakistani accent who wanted to sell me debt consolidation services from a company called DCO. Yes, that is exactly what a thinking person would buy from an unsolicited phone caller....

got a call with the number 4 - 420-503-5636 didn't answer didn't leave a message, however I have been told  that these numbers can be bought fairly cheaply and be spoofed, so who knows what or who it is. Regular pain in the ()* though

Caller said something about mortgage and I told him to get off my line and remove my number from his MACHINE.

Just got a call from this number...asked me if I was Mrs. so and so...I said yes...then he said it was not a sales call...blah...blah..blah...but some company re mortgage and debt consolidation...never let him get any further....I hung up...what nerve do they have calling ppl like this...if ppl need the help...they will call a legit company...and I don't think this is legit.

I got a call from a heavily accented Indian man, with lots of reverb and echo on the line so that he was very hard to understand. He said he was from BCO mortgage and debt consolidation. The thing that bothers me was that he was specifically asking for my 73 year old mother. How did they get her name??

Ii just got off the phone with the same story, his name was Austin and works for DCO or BCO, had a strong accent, he wanted to have me take a survey and I may qualify to save up $1200 on my mortgage.  Told him I wasn't interested and he thanked me and hung up.

Thanks for these postings - this is a well known scam; trying to get credit data or banking information from you.  You name could have been from a phone list; or some other sort of published data.  There was a posting on the website that the U.S. FCC amended there laws and have charged, prosecuted & shut down 'Rachel from Cardholder Services" which was a US scam outfit using off-shore call centres.  Likely this is an associate continuing the same scam.

Don't confirm anything on these calls - your name, address, NOTHING.  Scammers just take the info and sell it to others, and you get more scam calls.  Legit companies don't do business this way; your own bank would not need to call you and get you to confirm data that they already have!

Keep posting and exposing these crooks; and report on your Do Not Call Registry or law enforcement anti-fraud centre (in Canada, RCMP email info@antifraud.ca) - so they can investigate.  International efforts take time and government cooperation - but it does work; and legislation can be updated.  Keep being part of the solution!

Received a call from this number today I was not at home no message left....sounds like some telemarketing scam

Someone from this phone number called me at night time.  The phone number has a prefix of 4 in front of it.  The guy is likely East Indian judging from his misprounciation of my last name.  My last name always get incorrectly pronounce by East Indians calling from India even though it is less than 3 letters long.

And, the background noise was very fuzzy.  I had trouble hearing him, so I told him to call back another time.

I don't know what he was selling.

Somebody phoned me from this number except it was preceded by a 4 so then (44205035636) .  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  They have now been blocked.

Got a call from 420-503-5636--they knew our last name, and claimed not to be selling, but some kind of mortgage and debt reduction services-I think they are telemarketers claiming NOT to be telemarketers!!!

Got a call from ths number April 04, 2013  6:13 PM ET. Very heavy accent male asked for me by name, which is a little unsettling??  Claim to be debt consolidation service, mortgage credit card etc..  Told him I don't need his service.

Caller ID shows name as: V40503430900001 Company name he told me was just 3 letters but I don't remember what they were, sorry....

Received a call on our answering machine. The same number as I see others have noted. Lots of background noise and then a voice trying to say hello. Maybe someone playing with illegal phones? Very weird.

Got a call from the same number 420-503-5636. I didn't answer it ether. Didn't leave a message.

Just got a call from #420-503-5636.  Let the answering machine pick up because I didn't recognize the number. When I typed it into a web search I didn't get anything.

According to Canada411 and yellowpages.com the area code 420 is not a valid North American area code.

According to http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_in_North_America_is_area_code_420, this is the country code for the Czech Republic.
