I made the same mistake.  If I cancel my debit account, will it mess up my credit?  Did it mess up yours?

Your retarded for even working there. That place is a total scam. They took over $200 out of my account and it pissed me off how they said there was no way I could get out of the stupid contract. So I called my lawyer and my lawyer contacted the better business bureau and in turn, they called Mountain Area Communications and canceled the contract and refunded me all my money. And all of this happened in a matter of hours. I got out of it. I hope they shut that place down and burn it to the ground.

Its Mountain Area Communications, they are a scam company willing to give a 250 Visa Card if you pay 20 dollars a month for 20 months and you cant cancell. I thought sure i will give it a shot. gave them my debit card number not my checking thankfully. they charged me 40 to see if my account was real. I called to cancel the order, they told me i agreed to the thing about im not subject to cancellation.
I was really scared because they threatened me that my i would have my unpaid bills go to collection and i would have a bad credit report. I dont have any credit so this is a terrible thing.
I told my step dad this and he asked me if i gave my social security number to them. Thankfully i didnt and i would never do that cuz im not that stupid.
Anyway im not paying for this i terminated my card and now im waiting for the first bill to send back saying im cancelling.

DONT GIVE YOUR SSN TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE. THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER.

I was called in the late afternoon one day by a company calling themselves 'Mountain Area Communications'. I was in a good mood at the time which left me vulnerable to their scheme. They claimed themselves to be a company associated with my credit card company and that I won a $500 credit to my account for having good credit. I like to think of myself as being a responsible spender, so this reasoning held water for me. Then they popped the question. My credit card number? Why would they need that? Since they're associated with my credit card company, they should already have the information, no? Well apparently that isn't the case. Yet still I refused to give it to them. But then they shot me a deceptive lie. I was told that if even they were to obtain my credit card number, they wouldn't be able to charge it without my card's security number. That made sense at the time, since why would it be there if not for that purpose? My ignorance of the truth was my downfall. I gave them my number for 'confirmation' purposes, and they proceeded to bring me into a completely unrelated deal that comes with the $500 prize. They said I would be receiving some number of magazine subscriptions for free, but that I only need to pay shipping. At the moment I was thinking, 'I don't ever read magazines in the first place. I just want the prize and to go on with my day.' So I requested that the magazines not be sent. Then almost immediately, in the kindest tone imaginable the lady asked if it was too much for me. I agreed and she suggested a slightly smaller package. In the midst of this conversation I had lost sight of the entire reason I was even interested in this call in ght first place. If I had won $500, shouldn' that be the end of it? But no, in an effort to speed up the call, I accepted the smaller package. She proceeded to transfer me over to her supervisor, where I was asked to answer some questions while she recorded my voice. I was told to recite the amount I am agreeing to pay. Which involved the lump sum of all the shipping costs combined over a certain course of time. Which added up to a large sum money somehow. I didn't keep the numbers in mind, I just wanted my hard earned $500. After the call ended, I had a bad feeling. I searched up their company name, and found that many people have been ripped off by these people. I proceeded to cancel my credit card immediately and requested that the charge they made to the card be refuted as well. My credit card company was very helpful, but couldn't remove the pending charge and suggested that I call them back and have them cancel it. I attempted to do so, to which they responded that they couldn't cancel anything until it was posted to my card. Well, some time passed. My old credit card got charged roughly $40. Some time after that charge, they started calling me again, requesting that I pay them $192.00 or so. I haven't even received the magazines yet, but they pointed out an obviously underhanded loophole that says that the delivery will take over a month or more to reach me. I will admit, it was unwise of me to be so gullible. But this kind of business is just not ethical. It's like telling someone that they won a new motorcycle, and then sneak in that it'll only cost your car. Except way less obvious, and ten times more deceptive. I don't know what they tell you at Mountain Area Communications, but this is not an honest way to make money. Period.

Yeah I forgot to mention in the last message, you said this, "they tell you they are going to do a preauthorization. and it does go back to ur account within 24-48 hrs". It absolutely doesn't go back to their bank account within 24-48 hrs. That is complete b***s*** and all you pricks do is continue taking $49.99 per month out of their accounts. These telemarketers will say anything to convince you that they are innocent even though they are far from it.

You telemarketers are nothing but scum bags! Scamming people is not good business and you all know it. Stop calling random people and let the people who are interested in your business come to you. Why do I know that your nothing but scam artists, it's because you tell your consumers that they won a gift certificate from preselection of their credit card company. In addition, credit card companies do not share their consumer's info. Also, you tell your consumers that they will pay a lower price than $49.99 a month for your useless selection of magazines. I when we look at our bank account or credit account, $49.99 is taken out! You telemarketers provide false intel to the people you call and pester yourselves over. Also, the GIFT CERTIFICATE is ACTUALLY a PREPAID LOAN that the people you fool into getting. Funny fact that you scam artists pricks fail to mention at the beginning of the phone call.

Do not let these scam artists fool you! They will try to convince you into buying their monthly magazines and they will give you a huge hassle in canceling their service. In fact they will pull a voice recording evidence they have from you if you try to cancel their service. Tell these scum bags to go get real jobs and to do better for themselves.

Pissed me off because they called me 5 times and by that time I answered them they said that i won a $250 voucher from Walmart. Then afterwards, they just ask my info and charge my accnt for $49.99!! The good thing is I searched their # and found this site that has the same problem that I have.. So I reported it to my bank and closed my accnt. Gee what a hassle and my bank told me that I have to wait till next Wednesday to clear the transaction that they made. And if they got the money from my bank accnt I need to file for dispute.. son of gun!!!

They tried to scam me, but they couldn't. If they call you, as long as you hang up before the 3rd verification call you will not have to pay anything. The recording doesn't happen until that call. So just chat with them, flirt with them, and waste their time. When it comes time for verification, say that you want to cancel. They will say you can't cancel (which is a lie), but just laugh and tell them "watch me", then hang up the phone and never talk to them again.

I have no way of receiving the letter anyway because i've moved since then but I really dont want that on my credit report if they do..

I got sucked in too. The whole situation was screaming SCAM!!! But for whatever reason I felt compelled to give in like a dumbass. I "settled" for a cancellation fee of $179 however they still charged my account for the 1st month of $29 WTF? Spoke to a guy named Jared about canceling and he was understanding and seemed to be a nice person but the company, MAC, is full of crap.
