so when these people call saying you have 3 charges against you unless i pay such and such amount just ignore it and hang up?

Got a call from this number saying that there were 3 criminal charges against me. That I was going to be taken to jail if I did not pay $1000 by friday... They wanted to know if I had any criminal charges against me? I was sooo scared, thought I was going to jail. Come to find that the Law Office Of California has been called a lot of people saying the same exact thing. Contacted my attorney and they said huge scam, don't send any thing to them!!!

i have been receiving calls at work from an"officer dennis peterson". claiming to be trying to collect for a payday loan that i had taken out. they are continuously calling me at work and this guy has since started to cuss at m and threaten me. he told me that he would punch me in the face, get me fired, uses the f word and many others. hetold me oday that he is going to f--- my life up and getme fired from my job. what can i do?

I fell off my bed when I read this. I laughed so hard! I too have been enjoying my time with these morons. I called and spoke to him about my PMS and the horrible cramps I was having. He said he was sorry but he couldn't understnad what I was saying. I immediately began to fake cry and told him he was like every other man I knew and I hung up on him. I waited ten minutes and called him back to apologize for my upsetting outburst. He seemd extemely un-nerved. I asked about his mom and his family, and he kept telling me about the subpeona that was coming, I talked about my fake kittens and how much I fancy myself in Autumn. It has been a blast. The funny part is I'm a gun carring member of the US ARMY and have no interest in paying some piece of s**t trying to scam off the people I fight to protect. Hope this gets out and people catch on quickly.

I've also got two messages both on my cell phone and at work. It's really embarrass for these people to call my job. But I've called back several times  and the phone ranged and  iy say the number or code you have reached is invalided

i have been working with several individuals about these numbers constatnly calling please file a report with your local poloce department for harrasing phone calls or ever intimidation and phone records can be obtianed in order to chatch up to the individual.  They usually speak with an accent and call from at least three different numbers SCAM 424-238-6150 or 425-336-8983 local law enforce ment is working hard to help you thanks.  He is obtaining your information via the internet no one goes to jail for unpaid bills we would be over crowded again thank you.

I think it's a number from a magic jack type of phone. I got another call this morning. I think that when they turn off the computer, then the number doesn't work. I had been trying to call them too. Good luck! I already filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I called the payday loan place and they said this is a scam and that I should NOT give them money and I can NOT go to jail for a defaulted payday loan.

i got the same call and they left a msg on my phone. his name is Adam Book(think) and told me to call back or have my attorney call  them. will call them back today and give them a chewing out. darn scammers!

This just happened to me today!!! Same exact dollar amount and everything!!!!!!

Received a call at work stating that I had 3 criminal charges against me  from US Cash and I had to pay 5484.87 in order to make this go away.

This is bu***hit this people scared the s**t out of me lol and im pregnant i though i was gonna give birth to my babygirl at 6months right their when they told me that some loan company had press some charges on me for not paying a loan.. and  if i dont pay 1000 i was going to jail and that some investigaters where picking me up on tuesday morning.. but this geeks can get to you fast.. and trick you with your information..

The compnay that is calling you  is collecting on a payday loan that you owe.  This country does not have debtor's prisons and you cannot be arrested for not paying your bills.  If you have given your checking account information to any of these organizations, you should close that account.  Please, never, ever get a payday loan -- it is legalized loan-sharking and takes advantage of the poor.  If you owe a great deal in payday loans it may be in your best interest to consider filing bankruptcy.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that payday loans are NOT hot checks -- they are unsecured debts and are dischargable in bankruptcy.  Also, if you receive a phone call at work you should tell the caller that you will lose your job if they contact you again.  You should not receive any more calls at the work place.

I have been harassed by these people for two weeks. They claim I would be getting a call from police officer. The number they gave me for an Officer David Warner was a disconnected number. Scammers!

So these people called me also. Obviously a scammer. So just like their other one (dept of law and investigation) i called them back, 54 times from a couple numbers. They told me i was going to be sent to Afghanistan, and stop calling. I told them for every 1 call from them i get, they will get 45-50 from me, talking about everything from the weather to why pizza is a great comfort food. I also signed up this number for several call lists and other telemarketing offers. I have an app for my smart phone called caller id faker and called them back, listing their number as mine. That one threw them for a loop. I also told them they had a subpoena for their arrest too, (fyi, a subpoena is not something issued for arrest, nor is an affidavit, only a warrant.) They haven't called back for a bit so i guess they just have no love for me.

i have receive 4 calls from this # saying i took out a payday loan for $225.00 and that I have not paid it back and I now have 3 charges against me and that I will be going to jail if I dont pay them said the was from a law office I told them I was calling my lawyer the hung up on me said it was from UScash payday loans

I am sorry that this is happening to all of you.  Once again, never, ever get a payday loan.  I encourage you not to participate in the conversation when you receive a collection call.  By that I mean you should say, "Thank you very much for calling" and gently hang up.  You will not reduce yourself to their level and will not become upset at that the threats from the caller.  The fun part is that by thanking them for calling and then hanging up, you will irriate the hell out of the caller.  If they call back you should repeat the process.  You are the Bigger Bully by not participating in the conversation.  

The truth is, collections companys threaten remedys that are not available to them.  Their job is not to be understanding, care or offer a solution.  These people are hired to collect money.  If they don't do their job, they don't have one.  

The Fair Debt Collection Act was put in place to protect people from this kind of harassment.  But, at the same time, creditors have the right to collect on bad debts.

This is good too!  They made it personal.  Silly Bastards!

On August 2, 2010 I was contacted by a law office titled “Law Group of California” stating that an outstanding payday loan has been sent to their law office and they are representing “U.S. Loans.” The Law office verified my last 4 digits of my SS# as well as name. They briefed me on my affidavit and said I would be charged with:

1. Violation of Federal Banking Regulations
2. Collection Fraud
3. Theft by Deception

The person in contact was: Steven McDonald at (424) 239-6150. He demanded the attorney fees they were seeking would be $5,000 and if my attorney did not contact them by today (August 2nd) he would be issuing a subpoena to the Texas Attorney General for the above charges. He then stated that he would have his “investigative team” “pick me up” if my attorney did not contact him today.

They got mad when I told them my attorneys will be contacting them tomorrow and did not want to release their address…sketchy but I am canceling my account and monitoring my SS # as well as talking to my attorney.

One small point, Creditors do NOT have a right to collect "bad debt".  Bad debt being debt that is barred from being collected because they waited too long to collect it.  Many scams like this buy this so-called old debt for pennies on the dollar and then call and scare people into sending money anyways.

NEVER agree to send money or sign a statement that you owe money without seeing proper documentation and after consultation with an attorney.

I received a similar call today. I had filed bankruptcy and included 3 payday loans. As far as I know payday loans in CA can't result in criminal charges. He wouldn't send me any documentation regarding the loan he was talking about and if I don't send 987.52 to him by tomorrow morning with a notorized letter stating I had good intentions of paying, I will not dispute the transaction, and with my credit card information that I would be facing 3 federal charges. On one message he said, "If you don't return this call, or your attorney on record, the only thing I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you. Goodbye." Creepy!

this guy from the Californian law group saying that i owe  a payday loan its about to be downloaded into the legal system here in California they called my cell and left a message say do not ignore this call when i ask for them to mail me the document .they say the can not do that this has been going on for the past 3 months
so i just hang up
