I have also recently received a C-list response using this name and title, similar text, but the # is 617.863.7289.  Lookin out, it was an obvious fraud attempt, but Im sure I wont be the last.

I posted my tool box on craigslist and that douch sent me the same sketchy message and number. F*** that guy! People out there watch your self!

I have this guy right now wanting to buy a bicycle from me right now and yes he says he is in Palestine at a Marine base the moment and that he is from Alabama and that is where his movers will send the item?? He says he cannot receive or make any phone calls or have any contact with the public. The funny thing to this is that I put down cash, buyer pick up in person and this guy just keeps on. The phone number that he posted ia a landline out of Somerville, MA.  Staff Sergeant John Costa is what his name is at this time. He want my paypal info. I do not think so!

This man also has emailed me about a piano I have listed on Craigslist. Right away when he said he would take the piano, he inquired if the price on the piano was firm. I replied we would go to 2900.00 but that was firm. I received an email later today and the scam artist said he would take it and pay the full price! What person would not take the discount!He also said he lived in Alabama!! What a jerk Please find this John Costa aka jerk,Daniel,John whoever he may be someone do something! If I can do anymore please someone let me know. I also got an email from "John Costa."  The only difference in the email is the phone number listed...401-288-1772

We are trying to sell a Matco toolbox and tools ($3000) on craigslist.  The poor grammar and spelling were a red flag....also, the fact that the first email I received...the "From" was listed as John Costa.  When I replied stating that they were still available...the second email I received said "From - Sgt. John Costa."

This website confirmed everything....Thanks!

I also got the message from Sgt. John Costa last night. Funny that he tried screwing over a former Marine who can see that the attached photo is of a Staff Sergeant, he is claiming to be an officer, but then claims to be a Sergeant Major (next to the highest ENLISTED rank in the Marine Corps). None of his story computes. Also, a Sergeant Major would definitely be able to type a coherent sentence. Watch out for these scams. They are running rampant with Craigs List.
