Caller ID didn't say anything, just the phone number.  Received the call.  Didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.

Another call today at 12:20 pm.  Hung up when my machine came on.  This time the telepest's caller ID said "Inc S"

ID sayd INC SOR. I answered it, said "HI" but nobody there. I see from the postings that they are yet another telemarketer trying to set you up with an appointment for a contractor to come by and scam you. I am in So. Cal and in the 626 area code yet 90% of the calls I get in my own area code are the same ole contractor telemarketers. Although I noticed that they now don't like to say that. They now say they are from such and such "Design Firm". Area codes around my area like 323, 818, 562 and 310 are also almost all telemarketers. Oh. And 714 also.

Another scam telemarketer who is using a phone instead of gun to rob you of your money or information. I agree we need strong laws against the people who use phony caller  ID's . As it has been indicated by many people do not answer any phone call  who has a phone number or ID you do not recognize . If it is a honest call the person will leave you a message.

usually, about specially Home maintenance!  b or even other B.S> excuses ... like A'C, Roof, estimates .

they do not stop calling no matter what, just keep calling from Different Phone#'s -- calls from various Phone#'s, even #s that start with "1" -- like 424-133-xxxx  

asking for by  specific Name, they attempt to confirm Owner Name(Got-you)  and mention actual Address, so want for someone to verify and match Name & Address together -- perhaps a collection agency, recording the Conversation for internal use, so they could process to next level to serve the person on that specific address and Name !!

The telemarketers do not have to have a list.  They buy phone service from a low budget VoIP provider who permits them to conduct unethical activity such as sending a false caller ID.  The calls are robo dialed via computer to include all numbers in a targeted area code and prefix.  If a live person answers it will be queued for a live scammer (err: telemarketer) to pick up.  Sometimes there appears to be nobody on the line because all "operators" are busy.

Robo calls often make a unique transient sound when it switches from the robo dialer to an operator.
a "sproing" type sound may be heard -- sure sign of a robo operation.  It's unique to a transient on a digital line caused by aliasing (Nyquist theorem.)

Two things have to happen to stop this scourge.  1) A truth in caller ID Act.  You may elect to sent nothing; but, if you send, it must truthfully represent the person or business entity.  The penalty must be severe -- 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.  2) Slock VoIP providers must be held responsible for their customer's illegal acts; both civilly and criminally.

1:43 P.M. PST  Got call from "INC SOR".  I did not answer, they did not leave message.  I am also with Time Warner for phone, TV and internet and sincerely hope it is not them selling their phone lists.  UNETHICAL if they or one of their employees is doing so.

I  have time warner for phone,TV &  internet. Yet  they do not have access to block unwanted calls. I am getting 4 a day and I suspect either Time warner either sold their phone & mailing list of someone got into their customer listings.I can not understand why any phone provider will not allow us to block calls  we do not want. The no call lst is useless.

Yup - caller ID was the lame-sounding "INC SOR"  Ink sore!  Great.  No message left.  2-5-14 at 2:38 pm.  Followed later by two out of area calls with no number ID at 7:26 pm, 7:48 pm.  None of these scam contractors ever leave a message.  Seems like So Cal has the scam contractors, Canada (GTA in particular) has the air duct cleaners, etc...

Claim they talked to me about home repair 6 months ago. They start with a lie. This is a cell phone # with a full mailbox.

Robo scum terrorists.

In the past, I have also gotten "Thecat Garfield" from this number but today the ID said "Inc Sor".  They are trolling for contractor work.  Many of these callers indicate that it is a family member (husband, brother, father) who just happens to be working in my area.  When they give me this speech and I ask them nicely to remove my name, they tell me they will from THEIR data base but they can't do it from all.  This of course indicates it is not a Mom & Pop business but a telemarketing company.

I got a call from "Thecat Garfield" this afternoon. I don't want to block anonymous calls though, because some of my friends don't put their caller ID. I wasn't sure if I won a prize, or if it was a prank, etc.

Just got a call from this number with "Thecat Garfield" on caller ID. Yesterday I blocked all anonymous calls from my phone. Has anyone else received this call?
