i got charged $4.94 on my Visa credit card.  This is not the first time. The same thing happened 3 or 4 months ago. I keep notifying Visa about this and they take off the charge. This time, however, I requested a new credit card number. Waiting to see if and when they charge this new number! I never had any dealing with them so they must be a FRAUD!

Same scam happened on my WAMU account Aug 4th. WAMU doesn't know how they got the CC #. Talked to fraud dept., they are canceling card and reissuing. PL Project charged $2.94 and if my balance hadn't been zero I might not have noticed it.  Now I have to fill out a fraud affadavit WAMU is sending me in the mail.

Received a call from Bank of America about a charge from PL Project.  They called me before I even knew about the fraudulent charge.  They reversed the charge and sent me a new card on their own accord.  The fraud company appears related to clearriv.com.  Both of these companies use randomly generated charge numbers and expiration dates to generate false charges.  if it passes LUHN, they will try to run it.

If you receive any charges from PL Project or Clear River, follow the directions listed above - Dispute the charge, request a chargeback and inform the credit card company of the problem.

I also received a charge for $4.94 on my Debit Mastercard today, 18 AUG 2008.  I'm curious to know where everyone used their cards around the time of this charge - I would certainly like to know how they got my credit card number in an attempt to determine how much other personally identifying information they have on me!!  I am livid.  So, I'll offer up my "whereabouts," and please chime in if you have visited any of the same retailers I have lately!!

I shopped online at mythirtyone.com, a website that sells monogrammed handbags and totes, I shopped at thebellydanceshop.com, which sells (obviously) stuff for belly dancers, I created a Target baby registry, which did not require a credit card but took other personal information, like my address and phone and email and such.

Offline, I returned yesterday from a trip to Myrtle Beach, where I visited several souvenir shops and ate dinner out a couple of times, and my husband, who is at Fort Hood right now, made a purchase at a pawn shop and  has eaten out a few times at chain restaurants.

So that's my out of the ordinary stuff - anyone done anything similar recently??

Me, too...a charge for 6.94.  My bank removed it.  I have reason to believe this same "company" has tried these bogus charges before...since it's the same voice with a heavy accent, etc.  on the recording that I listened to about six months ago, but a different "company."

AUG 2008: We were charged $4.94 and looked this up on this board. We are calling right now to get new cards. This is like the 3rd time.

With websites and their accounts being exploited by employees or crackers -- this is only going to be a trend.

THIS IS FRAUD - and the CREDIT CARD COMPANY WILL NOT GO AFTER SOMEONE THAT CHARGES YOU BELOW THE $10 MARK.

J.K.

Call WAMU again and insist on a chargeback.  You can also send a letter requesting a chargeback... just send it to WAMU attn: fraud department.  Why they would rather file a dispute is that fraud has to be reported to some gov't agency annually and these things make their numbers look bad but this IS fraud.  This small charge credit card fraud is a huge racket that needs to be stopped and perhaps if the cc companies have to report it they will attempt to work together to stop it.  Ask for a supervisor or send a letter... don't give up.

Hope this helps.

I also received a charge from PL Project Company for $4.94. Yes, the recording is very hard to understand. I called WAMU and asked for a CHARGEBACK. They just ran me through the usual dispute process. When I asked why they weren't blocking all transactions from PL Project Company, the customer service rep just said they had to follow a dispute. I replied that my question was not specific to me, but their entire company. No help.

PL Project Company is a FRAUD... their website is www.yourplproject.org and they sell NOTHING.  This is part of a large scale, small charge credit card fraud operation that has been working for years.  If you are a victim, please do the following:  1) do NOT contact the company - they are not legit and you do not want to give them more info 2) contact your credit card company and request a CHARGEBACK and report this as FRAUD, cancel your card and get it replaced 3) file a formal complaint with ic3.gov with as much detail as possible.  You can see more of this type of fraudulent activity on www.dslreports.com/forum/scambusters.  They get away with this because it is a small amount and is not always caught.  A chargeback is your best recourse because the credit card company will charge them $25 for each chargeback... they will eventually lose money and shut down.

I just got a charge of 2.94 from this same company - "PL Project Company" and I know I have never charged such a small amount before.  I remember one other time a few months ago I had an inexplicable charge like this, also for a small amount, and I let it go.  But now I know something is fishy.  It has got to be a scam as far as I can tell.  They think because the amounts are small, no one will bother to deal with it.  I am going to try to figure out how to report this to the authorities and will also call my credit card company to dispute it.

I just noticed a $4.94 charge on my credit card (VISA)from PL PROJECT COMPANY. First of all, I have never heard of this company and secondly, I never charge such a small amount!  It was posted at 11:18am yesterday when I was in my car doing errands; therefore, I know I did not use my credit card at that particular time. I will call my credit card company, file a complaint and do whatever else I have to do to stop this fraudulent company.

I just got my credit card bill... I have a charge for $6.94 from PL Project Company. I called the # listed on the credit card charge and get a recording. It is a voice with a very heavy accent, so heavy I cannot understand what the recording says. I did get something about to contact the company you can e-mail at ???? can't understand the e-mail address. So I disputed it with my credit card (Chase). Chase said it is a company that sells telecommunication equipment and asked me if I had purchased any of this equipment. Of course, I havent. It's a scam company. So fortunately for me, Chase removed the charge.
