I answered the phone because it is the local area code. Just got this answer "Goodbye!".

I have the same complaint about this number, but with a different area code (206). No such number when trying to call back.

Got a call from SAME number using my own 256 area code. I don't answer unknown numbers.
The commenter above has the right of it. I am seeing the 189-2472 complaints abound but using ALL diff area codes. Be wary of answering it. It may be a spoof number calling to find out if your line is active them sell your number to telemarketers.

If you have blocking capabilities with your phone then do just that , a supposed Allstate agent will arrive at your door minutes later claiming they have to take pictures of your residence.

This number (189-2472) somehow has a Ghost Area Code - same last 7 digits are being complained over under many different Area Codes... My Caller ID showed no AC when I went back to another phone to check it out. I got the call, just after noon, on a Sunday (today). The only handy phone near where I was did not have a, Caller ID, - just a standard phone, damn! So I picked it up on the 2nd ring and I heard a short recorded message saying, "Goodbye!" I felt like I had just been caught in a mousetrap - someone phishing for real people answering their phones like suckers... Now I will be added to another list that will be sold to other d****eads as a, "Good Number," - so, I can now expect my, 'Unknown Caller' rings to pick up soon, and for a while... Never pick up a call you can not ID.
