You can call back and press 1 and you will be placed on their "Do not call list"

I received a call from this number at 3 AM, waking me up and making me very upset. No clue who this is.

I also received a call from this number which woke me up at 2:20AM!!  The recorded voice said "we need your help - please call this number back".  A fast busy signal is all I got when I tried a few minutes ago (2:35pm).  THE FCC NEEDS TO BE WORKING ON THIS!!!

This is the Red Cross calling for donations on my cell phone. Someone needs to stop this.

I work for Doctors Without Borders at our office in NYC, and we are getting complaints from people saying that when this number calls them at all hours of the night, no one is on the line, but when they call back they get our 888 donor help line, so they think it's us.
This exchange traces back to PacBell, and we have made a phone number abuse complaint with them. If this number calls you, please post as much detail as you can offer about the call here, we will be following up with the FCC and details would be helpful. Thanks.

My parents in Houston got a call from these low-life's last night at 2:30 in the morning.  Unfortunately, my brother and I live in the Seattle area, so the caller-id, along with just waking up made them understandably concerned.

I happen to work for a company that provides people-finder/background check services, so I did a bit of quick digging.

This number shows up as "Red Cross Us" and the phone carrier _was_ "Pac-west Telecomm Inc - Wa".

I spoke to the NOC at Pacwest Telecomm (I happen to also have some experience in the telecommunications business) and tracked down that this phone number was ported to/taken over by another carrier- "Telecom Pacific" on 1/18/10.  I can't find this carrier after a bit of searching, but I'll reach out and see if I can't find them.

I spoke to the Washington State AG's office and the consumer protection office had closed for the day.  I'll try and make a point of calling them in the morning.  Whatever else you might think of the AG here, he can smell a media opportunity a mile away, and I'm hopeful he will see the publicity in going after scam artists preying on people in the middle of the night.

It also seems likely that these people are forwarding calls to the American Red Cross, as that is where calls to this number terminate.  However, this only works from phone lines on some carriers, not others.  This implies to me that "Telecom Pacific" doesn't have their act together and is not properly announcing this # via SS7- something that makes me suspicious that they likely are not as professionally run as other carriers.  I wonder if they are being taken advantage of, or are more actively involved in this behavior.

Received donation-soliciting recording at 3AM Sunday 2/21 claiming to be "Red Cross". THIS IS A HOAX! We contacted our local chapter of American Red Cross this morning (Monday) to find out how to complain about a 3AM call and they said it was a hoax and that they had "been inundated" with complaint calls.

425-291-8401 called at 1:00am. It was a recording soliciting money for Haiti relief. "Haiti still needs your help..."

We received this call at 1:58 on Monday morning.  When my husband answered it, it asked him to call a certain number.  Not thrilled to be awakened in the middle of the night. Caller ID said US Red Cross.

This number called my house at 1:35 am!!! When I answered it said "Haiti still needs your help." This is BS that people would call at that hour and wake my family.

Caller ID says US Red Cross, but from researching around the Internet, this appears to be a scam.  I received the call late on Sunday night at the same time that our young daughter was flying home from a conference.  This caused us grief, because the Red Cross sometimes makes emergency notifications to let people know a relative has been killed.  If this is a scam, it is a scam of the worst type.

Called at 1am on Monday morning.

I got a call from 425-291-8401 at 1:45AM Monday morning. I answered on the third ring but there was no one on the line. Caller ID said "US Red Cross" but I doubt that's who it was. There are laws against phone soliciting between 9pm and 8am and I don't think the Red Cross would violate them.

Got a call from 425-291-8401 at 12:30 Sunday night/Monday morning, when I answered it was a recording that said "Haiti still needs your help", I hung up right away.  Caller ID said 'Renton, WA'.  What the hell is wrong with these people???  This is RIDICULOUS!!

This is not the actual "Red Cross" It is a scam!!  If you receive a call from this number, IGNORE it!!  Do not answer this call.

I got a call from 425-291-8401 on Sunday at 9:17PM Central Time asking me to call Red Cross back.  My called ID shows this number to be listed as "U S RED CROSS". This is a scam and not the Red Cross.  DO NOT PUSH ANY BUTTONS ON YOUR PHONE IF YOU CALL BACK. I live in Houston, Tx and we have had that scam going on for a long time that works like this: You get a call, they apologize and say sorry but then they ask you to enter a number (9 most times) so they can get back to the operator. When you push that number, you have opened up your phone line for them to make long distance calls charging to your phone number.  Be Aware.

This is a shameful evil scam. It is NOT the Red Cross.

Got a call from this number 425-291-5401.  When I answered nobody was there.  when I hung up my phone rang back telling me to enter a system code.  The Caller ID said US Red Cross.  I am not sure but, is the American Red Cross identified that way?  I have never seen it.

Called my hope at approximately 4:00PM Sunday afternoon.  KI did not answer and they did not leave a message.

Got a call at 4:54am this morning!  I didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.

Got a call at 7:15 on Sunday morning!!  What is wrong with these people...does someone actually think I would donate at that hour?

Got a Robo call at 12:15a.m.!  Asking me to call the Red Cross back as they need donations. Jeez...

2504128815 called asking to lower my entrust rate on what kind of card he asked. I asked him to remove my # from there list an bang they hang up. A call back has a fast busy signal. Also had a call today from 4252918401 same thing but there call back says they will remove my # after pushing 1. However unlikely but lets hope.
