time to put them away,  annoying and fraudulent    harrassing  uncalled for bull crap

Caller aske for the manger regarding something having to do with "The Starlgith Ballroon."  I have recieved so many faux faxes over the past 13 years regarding "Strlight Ballroom" and crap like that, that I called the FTC and gave a verbal reprot of this curent harrasment over the phone regarding Star light Ballroom.  I did not get a reference number.  usally I get such whenver i report such calls.  In addition, I perfromed a star-57 trace on the call.  I plan to follow -up with a written rprot to FTC.gov.  Thirteen years of harassment about stralight ball room and other such crap is enough.  I just hope that the Feds go after theses folks!

I received one of these calls at my place of business.  I still don't know who this is, but I don't want to be bothered with people / businesses who don't want to fully identify themselves.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

They call and ask for my hubby.  I tell them he is gone by 8 and won't be back until dark.  One replied, "but I don't start work until 9:15".  I just told them it sucks to be you and hung up.

Got a call, they said goodbye and hung up. I tried to call and got the recording that my call could not be completed.

Right on ! I have one those phones you are talking about,and I love it.  When I block a call ,if they
try and call back the phone will just ring once,that when I now I blocked the number.

They called late in the morning but didn't leave a message.  Their ID was "Service Call".

This number calls our company EVERY Monday morning and Thursday afternoon (EST).  We have submitted to the national 'do not call list' to no avail.  Sadly it appears we cannot stop the calls.

The link does not work.  I too received a call from these terrorists.  SERVICE CALL appeared on the caller id.   I am forwarding the call to the White House switchboard in Washington, D.C.

If any one has Barack Obama's cell phone number, please post it so I can forward these pests to him then just maybe they will stop!

I got a call from this number today for the first time.  Just to share what I have found about unknown or unwanted callers.  I do not answer when they call.  When they call and you answer, they now know when you are home so they will call forever after wards.  I get calls but they are not often at...I get about 2-3 calls a week and they are from different numbers.  Therefore, after a while, they will stop calling.  So, the simple solution is to NOT answer at all...caller ID works for me.  So, if I don't recognize the number, I don't answer.

What most people dont realize is that these telemarketing companies are always changing their numbers so you cant block them forever . Every time I get a call from one of those jerks I save it in my phone , Under the title Zcrap Zee so it appears at the end of your contact list and Crap for what it is .
and give it a unique name or number . The next time it appears on my phone then I hit answer and hang up and dont waste time with their verbal b.s. I have saved over 150 numbers over the years and will be forever saving these numbers . This works well for me and I only have to answer the first time .

hey, THANKS Fran!  That was really good stuff and the only real help I've seen yet.  Gotta get me one of those phones straight away, like TODAY.  I agree, we all need to buy those phones with call Blocking, so that they'll keep making them and make them even better, cuz I sure don't see these scammer calls slowing down any.

First of all, Everyone needs to start realizing that DoNotCall, doesNOTwork!  After all these years of getting the same calls over & over again and eveyone saying "but I'm on the DNC list" and sending in complaints to DNC, but yet NOTHING ever happens, try the steps below.

At least TRY to stop the calls yourself.  Here are easy 1,2,3 steps to take.

1)  Buy a Home phone with Call BLOCKING functions and use it.  Maybe as these types of phones start flying off the shelves in record numbers and the phone manufacturers see the demand for them, they'll make even more of them and give the ability to Block even more numbers in them.
2)  Call your local Phone Company & see if they have a Call Blocking service.  If so, sign up for it!
3) On Cell Phones, put the number into your Contacts under SCAM or whatever, and then SET the Ringtone to NO RING or SILENT!
Ta da!  They won't ever be able to ring through and bother you again.  If you see them in your Cell phone List and you hadn't even known they ever called, CONGRATULATIONS!!  You have now fixed it yourself!

Do NOT ever call them back, even if it seems like an innocent Recording that says 'this is a non-working number' or whatever.
Do NOT bother telling them to put you on their 'Don't call list'.  Guess what? They don't really have one!  And seeing they're calling ILLEGALLY in the first place, don't waste your breath.
Do NOT talk to them at ALL, just HANG UP!
BLOCK them, and go on with your life.

If you're worried that it could be a Legitimate company trying to contact you, then wouldn't you think they'd have your Address and you'd have gotten a letter from them??

P.S.   NEVER call back a number listed on a questionable letter, either!  ALWAYS look it up yourself and be sure you're calling the REAL company, not just any old number given to you in a letter!!!!!!!  And don't contact the email address they give you, either!!!

It's a Felony to send anything through the U.S. mail that's bogus, but by the time you've called the number that they listed, or logged onto a website they gave you,  and given them all your personal info. to supposedly 'verify that it's really You', -  they've already stolen your Identity and your Bank account money, etc.!!  By the time you figure it out, your wallet is emptied, and you can complain to the Feds all you want.....  but by then your Identity and money is long GONE!

I have BLOCKED this number on my phone and still get repeated calls from them. How do they get through if I have blocked the number???

Yeah. I don't know what their angle is, but they're apparently trying to find you the best credit card machine deal. They have been bugging me for the past 2 years, I've done everything for them to stop calling .
