If you do answer the call just say "County morgue, whose body do you want to claim?"

Card Member Services. Telemarketing company that "FISHES" for information on your credit card details ie: credit cards name & customer service number, amount owed, interest paid, partial credit card number. exp. date, payment history, etc.
This company has been calling me and harassing me for years. This company REFUSES to stop calling me after I have notified them dozens of times that I am on the Do Not Call Registry.
I called back the numbers that appears on my caller id, there is an automated voice message system where you can remove your number from their data-base (I have done that a dozen times and they continue to call) or you can hold for a live representative - you will hold forever, there is no live representative to speak with, you will stay on hold and listen to lovely music.

My message said it was from the Do Not Call registry.....isn't there a way to stop someone like this?

If they called your smartphone, they might be able to steal your personal information with just your phone number. In that case I would advise contacting your bank and the three credit agencies (Equifax etc.) and put a fraud alert on your credit reports, and ask your phone service provider what else you can do to protect yourself.
| Rich 2011-12-22 22:10:36 Unknown |
I used to work for the phone company and there's no way in hell the phone company doesn't know who all these numbers that are being used for harrassing us belong to,some body has to pay the phone bill. the only thing the phone companies can't do with these numbers is trace them across state lines.
Instaed of the government fighting over trivial stuff they should pass a law that every phone number has to have a name or business associated with that number.

Just received a call from this number a few minutes ago. When I answered there was a recording saying this was the final courtesy call from card services...
I ama patsy I answerred, got transferred to the CSR who asked me for my information, I gave up 2 pieces of it before i got suspicious. I then told the CSR in question I do not give out my credit card number of any part of my social security number over the phone EVER. They got nasty and explained to me that without pertinient pieces of info like my bank code on back, etc that they could do nothing with the info i gave them.
I promptly hung up giving them no further information and proceeded to google their number and came across this site.

About 10 years ago I got the same phone call. Saying they can lower my interest rate I just had to give them my credit card number and they'd send me a package in the mail. I never received the package in the mail. I looked up the company on the bbb website and it was a scam. Since I didn't pay the 50 they charged me I ended up paying over 700 on my credit card because of them. When something sounds to good to be true it usually is. Never give your info to anyone that calls u. It could be anybody. Everyone I would call to find out if my package was sent out nobody ever picked up. I did get ahold of somebody once and asked to speak to a supervisor but it went to voicemail. No one ever returned my calls. I can't believe I actually fell for it.

I was reached by cell phone too; however, I ignored the call. If I do not recognize the number, I ALWAYS ignore the call. Most of these callers are scammers/spammers. They have no conscience! They'd rather steal for a living instead of actually work.

My advice is to file with FCC. That si what I did. they will stop these calls to your number.

I got a call from this number with no message. I've taken to adding to my contact list with them. I fill up every number per contact. I just reached Spam 6.

This call came to my cell phone on 12:59 p.m. (Day Light Saving Time) on December 13. I have received several calls from the 425-390-81xx. Many come to our home land line. They all want us to dial #1 to talk to them about lowering our credit card interest rate. We always press the number that they tell us to press if we do not want to receive these calls again. We have also hung up on these calls as well. I would estimate the total number of calls of this kind is not around 20-30 in the last 4 months. We are on the national Do Not Call List.

crank call

I got a call from that number with silence on the other end. Just silence.
| Jim 2011-12-19 23:50:50 Unknown |
I accepted this call on purpose because I love to use scammers for my entertainment. I pressed "1" and fortunately I got a man who answered "Cardmember services." He asked me if I had pressed "1" to get a lower credit card rate (you'd think they would know what number the person had pushed lol).
He asked me if I owed at least $4,500 and had an APR above 9%, and would have to qualify. I made up that I owed about $8,000 and that my rates were "let's see, I think 17% on one, 19% on the other, and 22% on a third card."
He told me I qualified, and asked me if he could have the credit card numbers. I asked him if he could hold on just a second, because I was driving, and I thought I might have just hit somebody. I told him I had a Visa, and I looked up at the closest building, and said "2121." He stopped me and said that wasn't a Visa number. I told him that I was looking at my Blockbuster card by mistake. Then I said, "No, wait, wait! I got it!"
Then he said, "No, sir, you've proven you're not taking this seriously."
"But you want my money, right?? Isn't that what you want? Here. Here's the real numbers, so you can get access to my account. 4778 ..."
"No, it's too late."
"But I'm so lonely!!" I replied. "Don't leave!! What are you wearing?"
Then he said, "You don't want to know." and hung up.
Mission accomplished!!! The best way to get back at these scammers is to waste their time. It should be a challenge to keep them on as long as possible, and then make fun of them. Don't use the opportunity to point out that they're scum, or talk about Do Not Call Lists. They already know what they're doing wrong.

Very irritating junk phone call about credit limits.
