Another unwanted call on my cell phone!

This looks like more hucksters out there to pull scams, frauds, and pestering of people. Since I did not recognize that number of legitimate contacts or businesses, I don't bother wasting my time answering.

PESTS! SCAMMERS! Calls then does not leave a message. These ignorant pests keep calling my home everyday! DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, WHERE ARE YOU!!! I WANT THIS STOPPED!!!

I want these calls stopped, my number is on the do not call list.

To summarize, perhaps more clearly, what other people have said. Callers like these are scammers, criminals. They don't care if they break the law, because what they're doing is illegal anyway -- even if you are not on the DNC list.

Yes, the government could do a better job going after them. It wouldn't be hard to set a trap, but that is not a federal government priority at this time. Obama recently said that he wants more jobs for the spouses of active duty servicemen, and telemarketing is one of the jobs he cited. In his Chicago machine politician's mindset, there is nothing wrong with telemarketing.

Next time a federal politician comes campaigning in your town, ask him about this.

Block one and they will call you on another

I don't answer any calls anymore from an area code I don't recognize as someone who has called me before. Might miss one every now and then , but they will call back! The no call list does not work and no one cares!!!

So very true.  I worked for Tarrant County in Texas & the people there acted like you were making them look bad if you actually did your job.  Hated that place.... and the people.

Camron  you hit the nail on the head.  All of the Postings on this board,  isn't getting reported to anyone who will do one iota of good.  For all who want results,  go ahead and report on this board anything that may help others in gettings the scammers prosecuted.  
Posts like "Stop Calling!"  or  "I'm on the Do Not Call Registry" may make you feel better but  doesn't do a blooming thing except provide repetative reading for the other posters.  Get busy and report these calls to the web sites for that purpose.  Contact your congressman,  the FCC,  FTC,  even your governor to report these callers.

I don't answer unknown calls either. I am on the DNC list yet the calls keep coming. It's not just credit card companies giving out our #'s but I get calls for insurance to go with Medicare which by the way I don't have. I am disabled and get tired of getting these calls day after day trying to sell me something I don't want. If I wanted it I would call them. Unlike alot of other areas I can not block the numbers. Man would that be nice. It just needs to stop!

Lee,  there is a reason the DNC doesn't work with these people.  Read jj response above.  These bottom feeders are not legitimate businesses.  They don't care if you are on the DNC list!  Heck,
98 percent of america is on the DNC list.  These scammers aren't even in the Renton (Seattle) area.
The Renton people get paid to operate servers and do all the robo calling. If you bite,  then when you punch out the number to get a representative,  the real dirt bag picks up and gets busy on you.
Most of these telemarketing scammers are not legit and operate out of undisclosed locations and many from other countries.  They do this by using a server in the USA to robo call people from a sequential list of numbers.  They don't care if you are on the DNC.  They don't even know your name, or where you live .  You're just a prospective number who may do something stupid and give them the info they seek...like your credit card number or ssn.  They don't read this complaint board.  If they did,  they'd laugh at all the "I"M ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST"  posted here.  They dont' care..Good legitimate input here does help others to know what is happening. However, Paragraph after Paragraph of whining is just taking up space. The people operating these Servers like Renton should be prosecuted. Why they havent been,  I don't know.
Want to do something productive...Report these calls  everytime they call to the appropriate government authorities.  Eventually and hopefully it will help get rid of these people.

Can't   FCC  or  some other government agency do something to stop these people?  They are bound to be breaking the law.  What will it take?  I am on the "do not call registry."  It works well most of the time, but not with these people in Renton Washington.

The proxy server providing the Robo service is at Renton.  They are off the radar somewhere,  probably in a mud hut in Nigera or even next door..

They call every evening around 7PM and do not leave a message.  They are from renton, Washington

NOW THIS ONE IS BLOCKED.  ON THE NEXT CALL, I WILL BLOCK IMMEDIATELY 'CAUSE IT'S SO EASY TO DO JUST AFTER THE CALL.  JUST CLICK YES, ENTER THE LAST NUMBER THAT CALLED.

WHY ARE YOU WAITING TO ENTER THE NUMBER INTO BLOCKED NUMBERS!  I HAVE BEEN AS BUSY ENTERING IN THAT LIST AS I HAVE REPORTING THEM TO THE DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, AND IT'S MORE EFFECTIVE.  EVERYONE HAS CALL FEATURES THESE DAYS WHICH INCLUDE CALL BLOCK.  USE IT!!!

They just want your credit card number to have a good a olde time at your expense, that is what dammocrats do, whether in the state or D C

Caller ID says Renton WA.  Another call came from the 360 Area Code.  It said Arlington.  A check of the Area Code registry shows that also in Washington State.  It seems we have another haven for scammers in that state, that is, of course, if the phone numbers are not spoofs.

to block on your phone if you have an android or other smart phone, download call blocker for FREE!  They will call from every number they have!  My husband got 2 phone calls from them yesterday!  We do not answer phone calls from numbers we do not know!

Report them to the FTC for harassing phone calls!

I keep getting calls on my Magic Jack from this number. MJ does not have blocking, which is very annoying. This same number calls Skype even though it's blocked.  I already reported them to the National Do Not Call Registry. What to do?

When you get a suspicious call like this, pick up the phone, press Answer, then quickly press End.    This will cancel the call.    If everyone would do this every time they get one of these calls, they would stop.    DNC lists don't stop roto-dial calls like this one.

No you block them through your phone. Just check with your company or online for the instructions for your cell phone. j

I've read many times on these blogs to never answer the phone and enter into a conversation with these crooks. They aren't calling you. They are robo dialing to a list of computer generated numbers within an area code that MIGHT be an active number. So if you answer, then they know you are active and won't stop calling.

Also, if you answer and get hot with them -- tell them you are on the Do Not Call list and to take your name off their list, they just laugh at that. They are crooks, not legitimate businesses.

Here's my problem: I have an answering machine that picks up. They don't leave a message for the most part, but their computer notes me as a live number. I have had calls continue for a year from the same people waiting for a live voice to pick up.

So here's what I've started doing recenlty --- AND IT WORKS!  I see what is obviously a robo call and I hit the answer button, count one-one thousand, then hit the hang up button. Sometimes they will call back three times in a row and I do the same thing. Then I never hear from them again.

Think about it. If you answer and rage at them they either want to screw you by passing your number around or by calling you back over and over. And if you have an answering machine pick up they will call back forever to get the live person.

But if it's a hang up, they know they have no chance of ever talking to you so why persist? It works for me.
