Received call about lowering the interest rate on my credit card. When I asked which credit card they hung up on me. I am on the do not call list and would love to know who they are since the penalty is $11000. per call.

When I politely asked to be removed from their
call list, the person hung up immediately.

They hung up on me, but using info, above, I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry at
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

Another call from 1-425-406-9028, I think it was "Achmed the slurpie guy", told me he's not putting my number (cell) on his DNC list, unless I ask him nicely. Right. He began laughing and stated he WOULD be calling me all hours of the night, and there is nothing I can do about it. Welcome to my blocklist and get a real job scammer!

I think that these calls are likely to be either phishes to get information (less likely, since they did not talk when people answered), or from some list someone has been able to obtain of phone number/address pairings. With the holidays coming up, unfortunately, thieves swing into high gear.
When you answer a scammer call, they just sell your number as "confirmed" (which has more value to them) because they can confirm that someone answered it.
Best advice either way is to not answer them.

Just got a call from this number on my "Do Not Call" cell phone - added them to my phone's block list. No message was left.

How do you stop calls from this number?
Ray M 2012-12-19 17:23:07 Unknown
Waited for the computer dialer to accept the call and route me to a service rep...once there, I stated that I wanted to speak to the person's Supervisor or Manager. I was immediatelty HUNG UP on..... This number is a SCAM concerning your credit card, but they do not name themselves, nor name you specifically. They tell you if you don't press the numebr 1 then you will be liable for your credit being destroyed.....Just ignore this one.

Just received a call from this number on my cell phone - voice recording names heather telling me I could lower my interest rate on my credit card (didn't specify which card or anything). Then says to press 1 to speak to a representative or press 2 to unsubscribe to these calls. I just hung up without pressing either. I'm an avid Discover Card user and they always present themselves and do not do voice recordings and by googling number...def think it's a scam. Plus I don't need to lower interest rates b/c cards are paid in full monthly.
Ugh wish people would get a real job!

Low interest rate offer on unnamed credit card. I elected to press one to have my name and number off list. Gentleman said he was not able to do so. Then when I threatened to contact FCC, he said goodbye and hung up

This number came up on my cell phone and I didn't answer. I have a cousin in Kirkland, WA, so I thought maybe him, but no message was left so is probably the scam others are mentioning.
Bonnie 2012-12-19 16:45:42 Unknown
It was a message to lower my interest rates.. I hung up. I knew it was a scam.

They claim to be Credit Card Services, from Orlando, FL. However, their number came up as being from Kirkland, WA. They say they are lowering interest rates for Bank of America, Chase, and some other banks because you have paid higher than 10% interest cards on time for over 6 months. It was a heavy Indian accent, but the guy said his name was Shawn McGwire, which cracked me up. He said the minimum balance owed to qualify was $3000. When I told him I didn't have a combined balance that high he immediately hung up. I think it's a scam to get you to agree to a credit consolidation for a lower interest rate. DON'T DO IT. Credit consolidation only screws your credit up because they convince who you owe money to to write off part of your balance, which messes up your credit. But if you want a good laugh, ask for Mr. McGwire.

They called this morning about lowering my interest rates on my credit card. HAH! My interest rate is already 0.00% as I do not have a credit card. Obvious scam.

Just called me twice but I didn't pick up. Did not leave a message.

Just call the number back and you can place any number you want on their Do Not Call List. You don't have to call from the number they originally called

Received a call from 425-406-9028 while I was at work. Told them I would have to call back, however when I called back it was so broken up that I can hardly hear them. I got the same line--trying to lower my credit card accounts. The funny thing is--they said I had paid my cards on time for so long... knew that was bunch of bolgona. It was a reward for paying on time-BUT -my credit cards are the only thing not automatically paid so sometimes they are late.

Someone called me from this number, telling me that they will lower my interests, the problem was they know my credit card # , the amount of credit and on my account, my last payment and available credit.
But when I ask them if they know my name , they can't identify me.
Does any one learn what their business name is ?

I received a call from these people on my cell phone. Normally I don't answer numbers I don't know, but my Dad travels to Washington (which is what the caller ID came up as) so I thought maybe he was calling from a hotel or something. It was someone telling me I can lower my interest rates for my credit cards... Here's the thing, I don't have ANY credit cards and never have. This is obviously a third party company trying to sucker people in to paying them money for doing nothing. In short - SCAM!!!! If you get a call from these people do not answer and do NOT do business with them. Try to block them if you have a landline and if you have a cell phone put their number under a contact titled "scam calls" or "junk calls". Most cells will let you have a silent ring or no ringer for individual contacts. It will still come through but at least it won't interrupt you! Good luck to all of you and your attempts at fighting these jerks who think they can harass anyone they want! Something's got to change eventually right? ;D
Mindy 2012-09-21 21:05:05 Unknown
I'm not paying anyone on any credit cards, so why would I care about lowering my interest rates??
SCAM!!!
Frustrated 2012-09-21 20:36:39 Unknown
it's not enough that I get calls on the landine everyday but now they've started on my cellphone. I honestly believe the do NOT CALL LIST was a means to get our phone #s so they could be sold to these people or machines who want to invade our privacy on a regular basis. ARE we,the tax payers, the ones paying to maintain the do not call database? If that's the case I say we fire those in charge of enforcing the DO NOT CALL rules. Someone's not doing their job!

I just got a call from these scammers. It was a recorded message mentioning lowering interest on a credit card, but didn't mention any particular card, company, bank, etc. I decided not to call them back to get more info. Please, everyone who got a call from this number report it at the Do Not Call website - I believe that even if you are not on the list that recorded messages are investigated.

Numerous calls. When I connect to someone I say I want calls to stop. No answer. Presumeably, they have hung up.
