An android prerecorded voice calls and says: "This is Kelly Smith..." Asking for someone
I do not know. They have called before a couple of months ago. They have called the last
two days in a row; asking for someone with a very strange name. Perhaps, this company
really does not exist.

Wrong. I was receiving the same calls. They were from 3 different states. The police were very helpful and it was 3 different police departments. I was not only helped but, 1 of the police departments actually arrested the person while making more calls from their home. DO NOT just assume because your police department did not help you, they are all like that. With how harsh you were in your comments. Maybe, it was your attitude, or maybe you did not keep enough recordings, or records for the police to follow. But, I thank those three police departments very much. They were Coral Springs police department in Florida, then they referred me to the Silverlake, Mn. police, who then referred me to then State police. They were all very helpful and called back. So I am sorry you had trouble, but, do not doubt all the police departments because you had a bad experience.

Company acts like THEY DON'T CALL YOU! Lady on the phone claimed that they can't be sued for harassment if THEY DO NOT CALL ME! I told the woman that they have, indeed, called me and harassed me. She called me a liar. 30 minutes after hanging up with them I received a call from them. They were using "1207" and "Unknown Number". Um... That's harassment. Lawsuit is being filed as soon as the courthouse opens!

Constant, NON-STOP harassment from Kelly Browning-Rand (Phoenix, AZ) at Convergent Outsourcing Inc. I am filing a civil lawsuit for harassment, fraud and frivolous actions. I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO DO THE SAME! THEY WILL LIE TO YOU OVER AND OVER AGAIN, LIKE THEY DID TO ME. RECORD THE CALLS FOR PROOF!

Getting calls from these punks asking to give our neighbor a message for them. Instead of harassing them personally they decided to do it through us. Sorry, but I thought debt collection was a personal matter and it should stay as such. Learn to write a freaking letter.

Maggie... nice post!!!

Never pay ANY money since this will reset the statute of limitation. It will also provide 'them' with proof that you acknowledge the fact that you owe a debt. Once the original creditor writes off (charges off) the debt, it is purchased by collection agencies and in some cases more than once. (A collection agency can buy and then sell to another agency.)

You are right... however, each state and in some cases each city or county government has its own policy towards making police reports regarding civil issues. I would call the police (not by 911) and request to TTO (talk to officer) and find out your rights.

You are correct! These issues fall under 'civil' issues and not 'criminal' issues. However, IF threats of physical harm are made against you or members of your family it then does become a criminal issue and you can and should file a police report!

** I'm not clear about legal issues regarding  "accidentally" ;-) recording a conversation to get any threats made to a person while the answering machine is still running... but that is a good way to provide proof of threats. Also, you could just say you will be recording the conversation (and make sure that statement is recorded at the start before any further conversation takes place while recording) and then I do not see any gray areas that would keep it out of court.

I called this number back and I got through by useing their 4digit exstention number 3215 and it worked then I lied about who I was Until I found out who they were and what I wanted. It is a debt collection agency. Mine was for an old ebay account and I had origanally called them last week to pay my account because I wanted to reinstate my old ebay account. They had my debit card ex date wrong and I told them the right ex date and they never recharged it so they had to call me to try and get permission to charge my card again. Mine was a not so bad outcome because I initiated it myself. So I hope you can find out why they are calling you to. Also I told them I googled their number and found this web page and people are sick of the harrassing phone calls.
Good Luck

These people started calling calling me and i don't even have a major credit card so I don't even know how they got my number. What I do have is a 19 year old son who is a comedian not litterly but he gets his deep voice on the phone and says.... Hellooo umm can I help you and then he will start saying randum funny stuff in his deep voice and I just sit here and laugh my a** off.. take the call and end up laughing at these people and go on with your day. I know the call's are annoying but you can turn it into a possitive outcome for yourself. just by not letting them get to you. google funny replys to annoying telephone calls and have yourself a good laugh and fun with these idiots.
It works. Annoy them back.

I got a recorded message from 877-341-0006 and it left a reference #.
When I called back to inquire what it was about since my credit score is 860 & I saw my credit report because I just bought a new car, the person wanted me to verify my address before he would tell him what it was about.. I would not give it, only confirm my name.. I said if you don't tell me what the debt is, how can I address it? He said without my address he could not divulge it. I said if I do own someone you should have all my info & to send it to me in writing. Guy hung up..

Sara and to anybody else. Look up info on the FDCPA, TCPA, and other Laws

1)Debt collector can not cell your cell phone unless you gave expressed written consent to do so. If they do so you can file a suit against them

2)Even if you owe a debt they cant' call you before 8am your local time or  they are violating the law and you can file a suit against them

3)Never pay a debt unless you have it verified.

4)Even if you owe a debt and it's verified make sure the statute of limitations isn't gone as many of these bottom feeders try to collect zombie debt which is past the statute of limitations of the state of the resident.

5)Never give info to debt collectors over the phone. Some bottom feeders will try to phish for info that could end up screwing you over.

Wish these people would stop calling, is there a number to call and complain about these calls?  Isn't it against the law for these people to keep harrassing you over a bill that was owed ten years ago that was settled in court.

They are not a debt collection; they are masking as such.
They are a NY/Seattle based crime family.
Their brother in law is EMPLOYED contractor-like at DOJ and teaches at FBI

what a state our country is in
It was most likely HE who gave a month ago, the security code to his gang, posing as "anonymous" hackers gang, to listen in on an international law call that was in the news
Not email hacking at FBI
His subcontractor status eluded the marital relationship via wife to the crime family.
Anonymous, appears to be a hoax and their own brainchild to throw light off the gang, and onto innocent others "on their list".

No Joke
No Names
Figure it out
Hugest noses both sides of the mississippi
name rhymes with Gonano
bro in law rhymes with Gunker

The persons above commenting they dont believe police are / have gotten involved, are the perpetrators checking the net for bad reports about themselves on the complaint sites.

Wake up and smell the coffee

This appears to me after several number changes and consistently finding my unpublished/privately hoarded number, someone wanting to hear my voice to make sure theyve located me
had some trouble with a ny gang after being a wtc witness (they were the perpetrators, not slobs in planes)
and they mask their true numbers calling from via computer systems

alot of the calls are actually something called infinity device, once it rings it opens your line and keeps it open, despite the handset being hung up -
its for eavesdropping. Once you unplug the phone, they have to set it up all over again by calling your number.
Get remote voicemail and keep your phone unplugged if they bother you, and NEVER answer with your real voice, get a mechanical "HELLO " robot machine to answer.
Also disconnect your PC from your phone line if you use that, it too can be hacked by this type of device, similarly. (A tone can make your pc answer just like it opens the mic in the handset on a phone, or the recording mic for the answering machine, same purpose).

They know that they have the wrong number, but that has not stopped them from calling at least 6 times today. Talking to any of these scammers only encourages them to call more. They have more lines to call me on than I have space in my block list. This is harassment for a medical debt of an unknown person. It is time to get a lawyer or an over the phone kick in the A** kit.

wow, crazy. okay for those whom believe police do NOT get involved in civil matters, the police WILL come out to investigate a complaint and then advise you on proper proceedings. However, they will also contact the person or company contacting you if they feel it is appropriate, and in some cases (and some states) they do feel it is appropriate. I work in collections at a law firm. we get calls from the police all the time advising us to stop contacting and harassing  people. Unfortunately, we too have jobs to do, but I do NOT approve of the scam artists over seas. Calling our homes and jobs and cell phones. They should be ashamed of their selves! Losers!
