Our business received a call from this number today at 1136 hrs.  Caller ID said "VERIFICATION FR."  It was an abandoned call.  We're in Mass and don't subscribe to any newspapers so if it was the SF Chronicle, they're barking up the wrong coast.

These people called our business at 1136 hrs today.  The caller ID said "VERIFICATION FR".  I heard one soft electronic beep and then the dead air of an abandoned call.  I blocked my # with *67 and called the number back on my personal phone but immediately got a busy signal.  Our company doesn't subscribe to any newspapers, nor did we switch any services (and we have a freeze on our phones so they can't slam us) so this was either a wrong number, an annoying abandoned call for a telemarketer, or a scam.

I do not know who these people are.  Never heard of a company called, verification FR. I need for these call to stop.  U8Y8

It is a newspaper subscription service. I subscribe to the local paper (not the SF Chronicle) and have allowed my subscription to lapse. They wanted to know if I would renew over the phone. Not a scam.

If it's the SF Chronicle, that would make sense to me - I just recently subscribed for Sundays...but why no one responds and the call just ends, I don't understand...what are they verifying? whether or not it's a real ph # and not a "not in service" #...if so, then why the repeat calling?

This number is a verification service for the San francisco chronicle. I picked up today and that is what they said.

They called me to verify the start of my paper delivery for the sf chronical.

They have been calling twice a day the last few days and I let my answering machine pickup and they leave a message that "Hello this is a service verification and we will call back later. Thank you" I will never answer.

They are calling me three times a day.  Hie the hell do I make it stop without giving my number?

Same as the other messages.  Tried to call it back and it said it was customer service and if wanted to have number removed enter it.  Today answered the call and it said it would back later. Irritating.

This number has been calling me twice a day for the past week.  When it goes to message it is an automated voice saying it will call back.  Today, Saturday they called at 9:01am . I'm tired of being harassed morning and night.  Stop calling me!!

Got this call tonight.  Called ID states "Verification FR".  When I picked up, they just said that they were a verfication service and gave this phone number.  Will not answer again.

Caller id shows as Verification Fr.  Did not answer.  Will not answer these types of calls.

I got the same call, "hello, this is the service verification, we will call you back later"

I have no idea what it's about. All my bills are paid and all my services are running just fine.

I got my call on Saturday evening around 7pm. They left the same call-back message referenced above. I would guess that they are an alternate electric service provider trying to get you to switch your provider.

received voicemail message on 4/10/12, saying this is a "service verification" and "sorry we missed you."

No idea who it was, or what "service" they are verifying.

If you call and leave your number to be recorded does the phone calls stop.   They keep using different numbers.  I'm afraid to leave my phone number, it might be a scam to get your phone number and say your agreed to some new charges.    would love to know more.

Called office at 9:02 - came up "Verification Fr".  I knew I should just pick up and hang up but I answered with the co. name.  Naturally no one was there so then I hung up!  Next time I won't bother - just pick up and hang up.  Seriously, why would anyone SUPPOSEDLY in WA state be calling the east coast at 6:02 AM?  Obviously the number is spoofed.

called this afternoon @ 1:30; picked up & they hung up.  I called back and it goes to a recording telling you to enter your number if you want to be removed.... make sure that after entering # you press 1- sneaky sons of guns.

I got the same call at 7:50pm.
