I too am receiving this call about twice a day and get the same message as Carol. "Hello, we are calling for a service verification, we will call back later." I called the number back and it asks if you want your number taken off their list...so I'm assuming it's some kind of telemarketer...but it didn't give a company name so I have no idea other than that.

i got this call to...how do we block this caller? Anyone have success in finding company behind this?

I wish this caller would stop bothering my elderly parents.  What's this company gaining from these calls?  They must be gaining something...

Got a call today ... the message was "This is a verification from VeriFacts. It then repeated the phone number and the line disconnected." I looked it up, VeriFacts is a tracing company used by Collections/Creditors/Telemarketers.

I'm confused as to how they're supposed to be verifying anything if they don't actually take any time to speak to somebody.

I've been getting automated calls leaving messages from these SOBs for over a week now.  So I finally picked up the phone to see who they are and what they are selling.  They announced that they were from the Toronto Star newspaper and started into their sales pitch.  

They denied that they had called before but I cut her off and gave her a blast about using automated calling machines and that I'm going to relay to their newspaper client about how they are pissing people off.  I then ordered her to take me off their list and hung up.

Get the same message as others report. I went to their web site and they list a number to call to stop them from calling. It took about 30 seconds, fully automated. The number is 1-440-331-6633.

People, if you only took a minute, (it took me 1 minute to find the info on their web page, and 30 seconds on the phone) and were PRO ACTIVE instead of whining and complaining, you would have been on their DNC list and been able to share this information with the rest of us. Grow up, getting mad does NO GOOD! Finding a solution does.

Thanks for that number, Steve. I went on their website and found it on the bottom of their contacts page as well... I'm glad I saw your note considering they called me THREE times today. My caller ID didn't tell me it was Verafast, so I wouldn't have known where to look otherwise.

This number has been calling my number several times a day over the past week or more. They leave no message when I do not pick up, nor do they leave a message when voice mail picks up and requests them to leave a message.
I have attempted to contact the number twice. The first attempt was after normal working hours. The second was this past Monday; November 30, 2009. Both instances went to 'Customer Service' and suggested that if I did not want further calls, followed by instructions on how to be removed from their call list.
If I remember correctly, that is the purpose of the Do Not Call registry - I assume that following their instructions simply verifies that there is a living being at the number, and they will continue to harass, and probably pass the number on to other telemarketers, alleging that I had done business with them in the past.
Let me state categorically that if I have ever done business with what ever company is behind this ongoing intrusion; I do not recall it -

I got a call from this number today for the first time.  When I answered, the woman told me she was from Yellow Pages and asked questions regarding how frequently I use Yellow Pages and yellowpages.com.  After answering a few harmeless questions, she proceeded to tell me that she was going to give me a free 2 week subscription to the local newspaper.  It was then that she asked for my mailing address.  Something didn't seem right to me about this so I told her I was not going to give her that information.  I'm sure this is a scam to get ahold of people's personal information.  Please be careful when receiving calls from this number.

Steve is either a charlatan or a useful idiot. Asking to be put on a "do not call" list only lets them know that the phone number is valid. You can expect them to sell your number to other telemarketers.

Don't respect their system by following the directions on their website.

Report these calls to the Federal Government.

Say Steve is right & the telespammers will respect our wishes (doubtful) to be removed from the calling list. The tactics of this company are still very illegal & need to be reported.

Twice a day I'm receiving calls from this number. The caller (woman) leaves the following message on my voice mail: "Hello we're calling for verifcation, will call back later." This has been going on for one month.

Yep, they called me too, and before I could tell my husband not to answer it, he did...it's the Tribune from San Luis Obispo, CA.  They used to call periodically to get us to subscribe.  My stock answer was, "When you quit being such a liberal rag and actually report NEWS then maybe I'll subscribe".  That usually shut them up, but now that they have farmed out their obnoxious calling to someone in Washington State, it probably won't work anymore. Hope they don't continue to call...

I too, live in San Luis County and have been recieving this call everyday.  It only rings a few times and I am always unable to answer it.  You say that it is the Tribune paper, I'm wondering I previously subsribed to the paper but recently ended my subscription with them.  I am going to call the paper tomorrow and ask though, just thought I would ask you now.

I have received calls from 425-648-9482 several times a day on my cell phone for the last week.  I do not answer unknown calls and they never have left a voice message.  However, my fiance answered my phone today, and got a live person trying to sell him on a "17 week subscription to the Tribune" newspaper.  He did not get any other information.  And I just remembered that I had taken a call four days ago from the same number saying they were calling from "the Tribune".  I told them I was ill and awaiting my doctor's call, and was told they would call back later, which I guess they have!  Here in San Luis Obispo county we do have a newspaper called the Tribune, but I have no idea if this is a legitimate telemarketer or a flim-flam artist trying to get your credit card information.  I did a number redial and got a recording "this is customer service, if you would like to have your phone number removed, enter it now."  I don't think so!  If I get any more information, I will post it.

They call every day for the last week.  I don't answer, because I don't recognize who this is.  Caller ID just says Verafast and the number.  The answering machine gets a message, "We'll call back later."

did some checking...area code 425 is out of washington state.  Looks like it's a tele-marketing company either selling something or doing surveys.  Company is called Vera fast corp.
