Exactly right. I do in fact try this first-doesn't always work with more unscrupulous callers-but it is hard to believe-it is not in their benefit to keep calling if you don't want them to-it is if they are still trying to get someone-mercy-unlimited times is of a benefit to them-but not someone that is saying a firm NO from the getgo Some like the continuing drama in their life to continue their angst. Case in point-I don't answer unknown numbers-EVER-if someone I know just won a million or died-someone will leave a message-REALLY-never fails

If you have Sprint, you can log into your account and block specific numbers.  Here are the instructions:

Sign in to My Sprint with valid username and password at www.sprint.com.
Click the My Preferences tab.
Under Limits and Permissions, click Block voice.
Select a phone to block. (whichever phone keeps receiving the unwanted calls)
Select the following option:
"Block only the following phone numbers for inbound and outbound calls"
Enter a phone number to block in the field and click Add number. The number will be added to the block list. You can add up to 50 numbers to block. If customer does not have permissions to block voice calls, a message will display indicating the selection cannot be blocked.
Click SAVE to block voice access. If updates were saved successfully, the following confirmation message will be displayed: "Thank you! We've saved your changes."
A Blocked icon will appear next to the phone that has blocked voice services. Turn the phone off and back on for the new settings to take effect.

If you don't have sprint, go to your carrier web site and find out how to block numbers.

This is a good idea, I do it also. My cell phone gives me the option to add them to a rejected list so if they call back again the phone will not ring at all. So they can only get me once but never again. The only thing still negative about this is I still have to clear out the "2 seconds of silence and then hang up" voicemails they constantly leave. It's still a pain but not nearly as bad as when every call would ring through. That's a lot less disturbing then the phone ringing every time.

The same number is making repeated calls to my cell - but after doing some research, I think it's possible to hold them accountable.  It's possible to sue them in small claims court for violating a federal  telephone consumer protection act...

The only trick is that you have to pretend to be interested in the pitch, patient and nice, in order to get the company name and address.  After you have that, you're all set.  Then you must tell them to stop calling and take you off their list.   If they call again, after that warning from you, they are in violation of the law.

As I understand it, each successive call is a violation of law, and they are subject to a fine of $500 for EACH call.  So you have to keep a log of these calls.  It only costs $40 or $50 to file in small claims court, and it's easy to do.  If they called you five times after your warning, they would be subject to a fine of $2,500.  Apparently most companies settle out of court (by paying up) right before the hearing date.

I am going to try my luck and see what happens - it can't be worse than getting 6 calls a day from these guys!

This place has been calling my residence for the last two weeks..I get home and see their number   on my caller ID once again.  This is a place that i've never requested their services or needed them.  I was at home when the latest call came in and decided to answer it.  The gentleman talked about wanting to put a security sign in my yard. When I informed him that the residence of this number live in an apartment and I doubt I would be alllowed to display their sign, he hung up on me before I got to finish my sentence.  Sad that this business employed someone with no people skills.  NOT  A WAY TO GET ANYONE TO RECOMMEND ANYTHING BY THIS COMPANY.  This number is on the federal  DO NOT CALL LIST.  STOP CALLING.

Normally I'm against this (as usually they're fairly nice people just trying to make some money to feed themselves...perhaps I'm too nice...) but the people behind this number are the most obnoxious I've ever dealt with. I'm (like some other commenters) on the do-not-call list. This number specifically makes it feel like I'm not, calling dozens of times within the last two weeks.

So by all means, let us all blast air horns at them. They need to stop.

Like everyone else, several calls a day to my cell phone and if you answer its some guy from "Home Security", or nobody there.

Just a bunch of bottom feeders.  Sure, the calls are annoying, but on the other hand they have to live every single day knowing they are pathetic scumbags.

This number is used as a robo-dialing marketing scheme to bend the rules of the telemarketing laws.  These so called "reps" screen potential customers this way and after verifying somebody is actually interested in purchasing a home security system (actually a security system designed for industrial business and not for home owners) they will have a franchise in your local area call you to set up an appointment for installation.

If you live in the North Carolina/South Carolina area the alarm company using these cheap tactics is ISI Alarms of Mooresville, NC.  They are directly linked to the 425-390-8156 that has hundreds of similar complaints and this company also has many complaints through the BBB of advertising and sales issues related to their telemarketing practices.

Play along but don't give out any confidential information and have them have a real business call you back.  Once you have an identifiable business, let them know you are sick and tired of these harassing calls.

I got a call from 425-658-8839 and 425-658-8817.  Both were from the same person trying to sell me a home security system.  I told them we have one and don't want to change.  He kept on trying so I hung up.  Then he called from a different number.  I am on the do not call list and I have reported him.
