This is Microsoft Tech support's outgoing caller ID from India -> USA based calls. They helped me fix a vista issue for 4 hours last night (without success) and this was the # they were calling from.

Guys... I dont think they are legit... My computer crashes for s**ts and giggles and they have no idea what they are doing... This is ridiculous. They asked me what programs i use as security, and to be honest, it seems quite shady to me... so I'm done with them. Also, they dont even know how to speak proper English, how can you trust a non-literall geek???!?! It is impossible. Anyways, I'm done with them, and GETTING A MAC!!! YOU SHOULD TOO!

The number goes to a Micrsoft bank of numbers in Washington State support center. I too had trouble with a Microsoft program and received a call from this number to check on my progress.

Just got a call from this number following up on a Vista security issue (which the tech was able to help me fix in only an hour). After I told them it was fine and the tech was helpful, that was it. They probably just wanted to see if they could close the ticket.

Looks like the number is Microsoft support. Had an issue with Vista I was on
the phone for 3 hours after talking to 3 diffrent people they finally resolved
my issue. I asked them not to call me back and I was all set. Looks like they
called me twice today. I have no idea why. They called my cell phone this was
after 2 requests to only call my land line. The requests were ignored.
I asked them where there base was. They told me India.
If I see the number come up on my caller I.D. again I will just ignore they
just don't listen to you.

It is Microsoft Windows Support. I had an issue with XP last night, and they attempted to help, but failed. They just called me back from this number to schedule a redo.
This number is probably one of thousands at MS, chances of you calling it and getting an answer is slim

Yes, this is a number from Microsoft. A guy from India (working for Microsoft) called me back and TOTALLY fixed my PC........... So happy! I sometimes had a hard time understanding him,,, but he was really nice....! He called me several time.......
If you sign up for help (chat) on Microsoft Help Center you enter your information and if you get disconnected, the call center calls you back!

I did submit a tech support request on Microsoft last night for OneCare. Thought they would have called back sooner. Can't get to the laptop in question, so I won't answer right now.

RE: The number 425-704--2033
Folks, this IS MICROSOFT. Really.
Yes, they are Indian citizens talking to you from India. These people are trained and monitored by Microsoft employees. I know for a fact that they handle support calls from "One Care". From reading these posts , they must do other things too.
The entire bank of phones in India is connected to Microsoft's internal telephone system by satellite. When they dial a number in the USA from India, Microsoft's telephone server picks a line and dials out. The number above is one of their outgoing numbers.
How do I know all this? I got to know one of the phone support techs pretty well as we solved a computer problem over several long calls over maybe two weeks. We talked when my machine was processing something or was re-booting. I asked a lot of questions.
Just so you feel better, I offer the following . . .
Where is Microsoft? If you said In Seattle, WA, you were right
See if you can guess what city the 425 area code covers.
I rest my case.
Good day,

It is Microsoft. I called them 2 days ago to resolve an issue with onecare live. Every time I call them they say they will call back in 2 days to make sure the issue is still resolved...and every time they do.

multiple calls from this number to her home line, saying it was from "Mike" who wanted to sell her a mortgage.

I just was on the phone yeterday with microsoft, must be them!
Pat 2009-01-03 16:47:37 Unknown
It's from the tech support at Microsoft. If you left a call-back number on a support request, it's them calling back. If you call the number you get a male voice identifying himself as "Microsoft Tech Support" and you promptly go to an answering machine
Pat 2009-01-03 16:45:24 Unknown
It is from Microsoft. If you call back you get an answering machine from their tech area.

I have been getting calls from this number too. Haven't answered yet, and now that I see this site, I won't answer. Sounds like it would irritate me anyway. I will run scans on my pc, as if the scans it does every day by itself wouldn't catch anything anyway. I have blocking ability on my phone, and I will block the number now, since I got a 20 ring call at 11pm last night.

Got the call this morning. He called my cell phone - a pay-as-you-go phone, no less. I can't recall if I gave MS that phone number or not. ANyway, I didn't get the call as it only rang twice and I was too far from the phone to reach it. I have a ringback song on my phone ... I guess he doesn't like Jimmy Buffet. :o)

My hotmail account was hijacked, then MSN resolved the issue. Within hours I received a call from this phone number. I missed the call but called back and got an answering machine with a man's voice (that did have an Indian accent) saying it was Microsoft tech support. However, the message did not seem professional and I do not believe this man really is from Microsoft support. If anything, he was most likely part of the hijacking of my email account. Bottom-line: Beware.

I got a call from this number as well. I didnt answer because i didn't recognize it, but the call came in while I was trying to chat with Microsoft support.
It is likely that its both microsoft and seagate. Many large companies, especially tech. companies, outsource their support to "tech support providers" in india.
degobahjunk 2008-03-21 18:12:43 Unknown
interesting that most of you have said this was Microsoft. I'm getting the calls from this # because I had a problem with my Seagate External Hard Drive & they are checking back to see if the problem is resolved. The folks who answer are definitely Indian.
scladt45 2008-03-03 19:09:30 Unknown
I got the call too. Didn't answer it cause i didn't know the #. It was the 425-704-2033 i listened to the v-mail a man from India bad English. How did he get my cell #???Hmmm
Joe 2008-02-22 00:29:59 Unknown
I can vouch that they are legit from Micorsoft. I called them yesterday about an issue I had with Win XP Pro and they said they would call me back today to follow up on the issue. I gave them my cell # and did not answer first go because I did not recognize the number. They did leave a voice message stating my case #, so I know they are really from Microsoft.

I have gotten calls from this number. They identify themselves as Microsoft but are from India. They are reportedly investigating the illegal use of spyware on my network (WHICH IA A REAL PROBLEM FOR ME), BUT it has been over 4 weeks and they have yet to reconcile anything, or escalate the issue. They also do not answer any questions but tend to ask more of me each time. A great R$D method for a surveillance software company to determine how you are progressing while finding their software on your machine.
At this point I am suspicious of the situation as it should have been resolved a lomng time ago... AND it seems that without authorization they have been taking remote control of my computer - trakccked to their IP address.
