After contacting a Microsoft site for technical support and reinstallation of software, I got a call from this number saying the
bankcard did not go through and that I needed to call the bank. I requested an invoice itemizing the charge, and the 25-
character code for the installed software. I asked this validation because at first it was $40, then another $50, then $99. So I was uncomfortable about this. I did a search on the number and it said Microsoft. Yet the transaction seemed irregular.
I learned there was a 10-hour difference in time zones, so the WA phone exchange is misleading perhaps. Cultural differences perhaps understandable but unsettling nonetheless, all in all.

There was nothing illegal discussed, the guy pops into the room after setting an appt. and states he is an undercover... a FAKE undercover. I asked him for documentation, but he said it is in the hallway along with officers. didn't buy it, but what else could I really do. I don't carry anything valuable in my room so I didn't really care too much.
He was looking for drugs and cash really. I didn't have drugs and I hid the money pretty well and don't carry around over $400 in the room anyways.
He talked into a headpiece, but I kind of giggled inside wondering if he was talking to himself. He went through my stuff even after I asked him for documentation said the same thing. He didn't take anything, but did ask a stupid question "Do you have money to scan?" that is when I for sure realized it was a SCAM. I had to put on my acting skills and go along with it as if I believed it.
I told him I didn't have it, no documentation = I won't tell you anything truthful smh
Just a warning to the ladies or anyone else to be careful with "A" guy running around doing scams. for anyone in the Eastside (Bellevue, Kirkland, Renton, Redmond) etc
I didn't report it since he didn't cause me any kind of damage or take anything valuable. Even if it IS wrong to do this, his KARMA will come soon.

A man from this number called and said he was a fraud investigator for Microsoft and that multiple accounts had been set up in my husband's name. He wanted to get my husband's phone number. I said no. He had our address and my husband's name. He asked if I wanted HIS phone number. I said no. I told him I was sure he was a scammer. He laughed. Then I told him we had NO accounts with Microsoft. So he said he'd be deleting them. I said go for it. Dumbass.

and you actually believe them?

Call from Microsoft following up on resolving a technical support ticket.

Called our office at 4:48 PM Sunday. Caller ID said MICROSOFT CORP 4258828080. Someone with an Indian or Pakistani accent said they were calling back pertaining to some case number and they would call back today. Sounds rather scammy to me.

3 calls, just silence when I answer then hang-up. It's now on the answerphone, it is ringing 3 times, then stops?

Microsoft does not cold call people! It is a scam and spoofed call. There is no way for anyone even Microsoft, to know if a computer is doing anything like these calls claim. These are scams to get money while they hack folks computers simply said. Microsoft doesn't call people, you have to call them and initiate tech support.

I own a business and have a computer issue with Microsoft tech support. Personally can verify this number is real.
However, most of the comments above are likely consumers and never deal with the company directly. So this is likely a Spoofed call and would NEVER trust them if the call is unsolicited.

Hey folks .... don't get your knickers in such a knot.....I got tech help from windows (I initiated the call for help)....this was a call back to ask if everything turned out ok (they left a message as I couldn't get to the phone in time....message included details about the problem I had that no spammer would know). Then they followed it up with an e-mail.
Sometimes they are just who they say they are.
Ask yourself:
Did I (or someone in the house/business) recently call Microsoft?
What did I call about?
Does the caller have details about my service request that only microsoft would know about?

All of our calls are recorded and stored on our corporate server. It's obvious this is just a ruse.

We just got a suspecius call from someone saying he was from Microsoft Florida. He said his name was Neil William tel. 882 8080 and NW1205@microsoft.com. He wanted to remove viruses from one of our computers. I wonder if there is someone with that name at Microsoft.

My fiancee got a call from them just now. Didnt answer because he didnt know the number, googled it and landed here.
The stupid thing is, he called back just a couple minutes later after listening to the voicemail they left and the offices were closed. >_>
My finacee had called because his cousin's Xbox hard drive was acting up and was trying to get it fixed or replaced. The idiots apparently werent listening when my fiancee gave them his cousin's email and sent it to "TRIPE" when they were told "TRIPLE".

DId you ctct MS? I am also an MS employee and got this too.
Arabic sounding, Didnt understand a thing but asked for my name.
| Not Microsoft 2012-07-27 17:30:51 Unknown |
I work at Microsoft and I received this call a number of times as well. Someone is spoofing the Microsoft corp. line.
Thus, if you know someone at Microsoft, it could be legitimate. But if you got a spam call (which is probably why you are reading this board), it is most assuredly NOT Microsoft.
In my case, they seem to have my name, but a man with a horrible, horrible accent said his name was "John Smith" (give me a break) from U.S. Bank. I didn't let him get further than that before I started tearing into him and hanging up.

This call is from Microsoft User Research. They typically call to try and get you involved in user studies of new software or devices they are working on. They called me after I signed up on their site. I get to play with their latest toys and give them feedback.
| MS_User_Research_buddy 2012-07-02 18:33:53 Event Reminder |
oh I totally forgot I signed up for MS user research. I get a call from them maybe twice a year. Numbers can be spoofed but it's never happened to me.
Scammers are a lot more clever these days. If you're scammed, or have some perv call you, do you really think the number you see on your caller ID is the real number? seriuosly? they're calling you from home or their phone or their work so they can be traced back and get in trouble? good lord how do they even use a phone, that's what I want to know. granted, the occasional idiot uses their own phone. But not usually. They're scam artists, not scam dumbasses.

Just listened to the voicemail... Paulette from Microsoft looking for flags that my company produces. My company does not produce flags, and the call was to my personal cell phone. It was a real person leaving the message, but I'm thinking it's most likely spam.

Have a missed call and a voicemail from this number... after reading the comments, I'm afraid to check it!
