I've been getting calls from this number every day for the last few weeks. I just let it go to voice-mail. Never any message left, though. I've noticed a trend with these spam calls. The callers try to "localize" the prefix so that it appears to be coming from the immediate area and thus increase their chances of beng answered by looking "familiar" to the person receiving the call. The only Caller ID info I get on my spam calls is "City, State." Without any additional info, I never pick up.

I don't know this number and they called me many times and it scared me

Yup... "Are you a senior" robo call. I have started filing a complaint with the FTC EVERY time I get one of these. The more we complain, the more the FTC will do something about them. I can't get the Do Not Call registry's website to take my complaints (they provide a link to a special website for these calls but it doesn't work, and I've tried it with 3 different browsers), but after some searching, found a PHONE NUMBER to call in the complaint. ESPECIALLY for robo calls as the FTC is much more aggressive with those. It's 1-888-382-1222. Typical "press 1 for this 2 for that", but all you have to give them is your number, the number that called you, and the date. You CAN leave additional information if you have it/want to, but you don't have to. 1-888-382-1222 is now in my speed dial! LOL! You can find this number by going to www.donotcall.gov, then clicking on "more information" on the left side of the screen, then clicking on "information for consumers", then scrolling down to #36. This number (1-888-382-1222) is listed there.

Some of these companies operate by trying to keep you on the line as long as possible on purpose, in addition to the information they try to phish out of unsuspecting victims; this equals more money they can collect back from the phone company for using an 800 number; ALL of which the phone company will pass along to the customer. And, if that's not bad enough, the phone company provides your information to the companies that use 800 numbers free of charge; if you call them back, your number instantly comes up on their caller ID, even if it's an UN-LISTED number! If you are going to call them back, ALWAYS, use the toll-charge phone number, NOT an 800 number. Today, almost every phone plan includes unlimited long distance, so you are not paying anything extra, but you are denying them the information they want to know, whether or not your number is "live", and what it is; just remember to hit *67, to conceal your number before dialing. If you cannot find their toll number online, or on a website like this one, and end up on the phone with them, ask them for their direct phone number. And NEVER, EVER, confirm, or give out ANY personal information to these cold callers, or anyone else. I have played along with one of these losers, so I could say "don't you have that information, you just called me on this number!", when asked to confirm my phone number to them.

Been getting calls for months now from the above number. It comes through as "Card Services". We never answer, but they keep leaving messages about reducing the interest on our CC's. But all our cards are paid off monthly so the jokes on them. Also, I've seen this in print about it being a scam. They take your up front payment, then arrange a three way call between your CC Co, yourself and them, and all they do is ask for the CC co. to lower your interest rate. Nothing more than what you can do for free. They charge up to $3000 for their "service", payable in advance. That is also illegal.

Ghost Call. I picked up the phone because it was a local number, all I heard was a series of clicks then I hung up.

Don't expect telephone company's to act on this problem. They make a ton of money on caller id service.

I have tried to stay on the line to get someone to tell me the actual company using this robocall crap. After 5 minutes on hold, I gave up. I really wanted to know so I could contact them and pass on the name here.

Another "IF you are a senior citizen..." call.
I liked the idea Mavorni has on Jan, 14 and started my own list, saving these kinds of calls under "Telemaketer" in my phone directory, though I usually just don't answer if I don't recognize the number or caller.
And - YES - it is frustrating! I rarely answer my home phone anymore, but still have to check. Being on the Do Not Call list doesn't seem to be working very well!
ZSW 2013-01-25 02:22:26 Unknown
Have received several "ghost" calls from this number -- after about 30 seconds, the line goes dead.
Annoying!
Mike in MD 2013-01-25 02:13:40 Unknown
No, posting here does not help stop the calls. However, by sharing information on the caller we can help each other avoid scams. Sometimes it is possible to identify the caller and if they are breaking laws, they can be sued. Unfortunately the majority of the time is it not possible to identify the actual entity doing the calling. It also helps identify callers such as fund raisers, surveys, political calls, etc that are exempt from the telemarketing Do Not Call laws.

"IF you are a senior citizen..." Another illegal call
Does writing something here actually help stop these calls? Or are we just talking to ourselves?
Richard 2013-01-24 20:20:36 Telemarketer
It was a recorded message advertising some sort of senior alert system. I have received many identical messages. They are all illegal, but those placing these calls know that they will never get caught and that they will make a lot of money by ripping people off. Beats working for a living.

ROBO call, telemarkerter
Daisy 2013-01-21 17:13:45 Unknown
I have told them over & over again that I am on a "do not call list" and to remove my number & they refuse to. They call at all times & are a real bother.
Cell phone user 2013-01-19 21:31:10 Telemarketer
Recorded message selling senior medical advisory service, press 1 for more information. Why am I getting so many marketing calls on my cell phone? I thought telemarketers weren't allowed to do that!
Mike 2013-01-19 20:56:45 Unknown
You should have the option on your phone to push * that would not only remove your number from their list, but would also submit their name and number to a do not call register AND an FTC fine for violation of rights. Telemarketing is the worst form of business and should be KILLED...there is absolutely NO value in this 'profession'...it is a disgrace.
We should get congress to act...but they can't even get the more important things done...so forget that.
Suz 2013-01-19 18:49:47 Telemarketer
If you stay on the line long enough and listen, you do have the option of simply pressing 5 to be removed from their list. We'll see if it works!

Missed a call and checked my ID caller. Stated it was from Bellevue WA but also flashed "long distance". Not only that but it scrambled my date and time stamp stating the call was from 19:17pm and on 15-31, when a call the day before from someone else was clearly 7:05pm on 1-18. Very strange!

Got a call from this number two seconds after I got one from 646-558-6688. Caller ID on this number was "Bellevue, WA." The other Caller ID was "NY, USA." These calls are obviously related since they appeared within two seconds of one another.

@JMP - I hope you have a chance to win another "steak." LOL
@ Jennifer - Thanks for looking it up and providing the info
I just didn't bother to answer the phone and they did not bother to leave a message.

Robocal type telemarketer call. Only answered because the number came up as Bellevue which is a local number. Hung up as soon as I got a recording. Added them to my telephone number blacklist--currently at 129. I was just thinking today it had been along time (10 days) since I had been bothered by these types of nuisance calls. So sad my win steak was broken today.

they have been non stop calling me for months now. 3 times a day starting at 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. I have asked them to take our number off their list. I have left them 2 voicemails and have made 2 complaints with the national do not call list. I just received another call and pushed 1 to talk and got a busy signal. Tried to call them and nothing happens. This is the worst telemarketing annoyance i've had

Received a call from this number on my message machine. No message.
Thanks for this service--I'll delete this call and not respond to others from this number.

Called at 7am on landline. Caller ID said Bellevue WA but I didn't recognize the number so didn't answer. They did not leave a message. Stupid telemarketers.

this is a robo call scam targeting seniors. The company who owns the number is ZAYO and here's their contact info - please call them and let them know that whoever they're selling their numbers to is using it to target and scam the elderly. Also be sure and make a complaint with the FTC.
