Craigslist scammer looking to send fake certified check for your item.  Before it bounces in a couple weeks, they will pressure you to send them your own money for the amount their check will be over the actual price of the item you listed.  Scammer who needs to be ignored.

Same thing. Larry Cole wanted to buy a $350 treadmill from me on Craigs List. Said he would pay $50 extra for me to pull the ad from craigs list.  In a few days I got a check from Fed Ex for $1900. He texted me to take my share and send the rest to someone in another state supposedly for shipping. Reporting him to State Police, Craigs List and FBI.

Contacted by this number regarding a Craig's List ad. Mailed me a check for a treadmill far exceeding the cost of the treadmill and wanted me to cash it and send the remaining money to someone else (supposedly for shipping costs). Said his name was Larry Cole.

Same crap as above, but gave him address of vacant lot and fedex delivered an overnite package with bogus check (company address on check doesn't match perfectly to company's address).  Bank is in WI, return address is S. Portland, ME, and fedex says package originated in Addison, TX.  How dumb does this person think we are?

I had replied to add on Craig list for a position and  got an email response from a Larry Cole the only difference is he sent me a check and wants me to deposit it and once it clears he wants me to send the money CASH as he stated to an ORPHANAGE..lol  oh yea and keep $500.

Same! The person texted me wanting to buy my snowboard. The area code wasnt local so i got suspicious and typed it in the reverse phone number lookup and sure enough i find this and find out the guy is a telemarketer. What a scam. Shady people these days..

I just got a text for a Craig's list item that I just listed..I'm always suspicious when things start out..I am want to buy....Glad I found this forum...

I to had a post on Craigslist. Exactly the same thing every one has said came  from larry was  Txted to me and mine was a horse cart.  As soon as Larry said cashiers check nope red flags came up.and this happened a few min ago. And wanted my address bad. I now have the number marked as a scam I am glad I did a look up on the number.

I am new to this scam? I looked up this number after he texted me. He said, consider it sold, I will give you and extra 50.00 to hold it for me and to take it off craigslist. I didnt take it off craigslist, but I did give him my name and address. I didnt think anyone could domuch of anything with just my address?could someone please let me know if there is something I should do about this?

Not everyone, just enough people to keep sleazeballs like "Larry" coming back for more.  (sigh).

I posted some furniture on Craigslist and "Larry" texted me almost immediately asking me to hold it for him. He would send a certified check, with an extra $50.00 for me to hold it.  Then he demanded that I remove my ad from Craigslist right away.  "Larry" must think everyone is stupid!

I too got a reply from this number in regards to a Craigslist ad for a tanning bed.  He asked that I take it off Craiglist and consider it sold.  Hecould only send a certified check but would add  $50. I thought it was suspicious.

this is unreal!can't anybody trust any thing any more? my husband  and i said we can't take the extra 50$ just to hold the item they probably really want it bad for christmas.what idiots right?when i tried calling back the number it said google subscriber not available.they texted me four times dec. 6

I have also got a message like this.. I live in the west, and this call is from the east. Who would want to get something clear across the country over Craigslist?  Larry Cole, extra $50, certified check,... etc....

Posted an add on Craigslist for a generator, got a message from this number with the same type of information. Would send me a certified check and would give me an extra $50.00 to remove the listing and hold it for them. I told them they had my number call me if this is not a scam. I got a second message with an explanation that they are on a job site and can only text message. SCAM big time

Ditto. Just happened to me today. They asked for my info and I asked if they also wanted me just to bend over and give them my SSN and passwords too. No response.

Put ad on craiglist and just like Sue they asked for my name and address and would give extra 50 if took ad down think they trying to find address so they can steal what I want to sell.

Posted ad on Craig's list with my phone number & this number texted me wanting item.  Knew it was a scam when they asked for my name & address so they could send me a certified check - plus an extra $50 to hold the furniture for them.  I replied back and told them "Sorry, cash only".
Haven't heard back from the scammer yet.
