I have caller ID.  It showed this number 434-236-4146 and caller unknown.  I also have an answering machine. The called a male said four times, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello.  and then hung up. I will not answer my phone if I don't know who it is.  I am on the "Don't  Call National Registry".  

Got the call, too, and it came to my cell phone.  So irritated.  It's happened before.  One time I didn't notice the number, but I picked up and got a robovoice that said I had won a trip and to claim it I had to call a number. The only thing  that came thru on the initial call was that it was a travel agency.

This one of a number of calls that I have to struggle to answer... my mobility problems.... however:  I would pay for some device that connects to my phone that would erase my number from these telemarketers.  I get a call, I push a button.  There are too many holes in the "do not call" laws.

Remove my number from your call list.  Do not call me again.

Received call on 2/18/14, read Brookneal, VA - no message was left on my machine. Received call 2/19/14 this said unknown caller. Both were phone no 434-236-4146, and both times it went to my answering machine but no message was left. Now that I know this is a scam I will be sure not to answer the phone. Thank you to everyone who,posted information.

Missed call from "Out of Area" on caller ID. Don't know how that got through the busy signal. I'll list them as redirect if they call again. Sounds like another scum bag from the experiences of others. Worthless Do Not Call listing had one simple job to do. Go after the scum who don't get the message and take THEIR money to pay for it.

I keep getting this call at least once or  twice a day  on  both of my phone numbers.  No one says anything  on either answering machines.  This number has been calling for months which I answered it and ignored it since.  The caller was trying to push down my throat "FREE"  medical equipment asking for home address very aggressively as  first question.  I objected and the person became pissed off because I wouldnt receive "FREE" stuff that had suppose to be either "MY" order or a gift from a family member / friend to surprise me.  What is so funny about the whole thing, I was called my daughter's name to be the elder person at my resident.

They called again today.  Brookneal, VA is the caller ID 434-236-4146, I dont answer if I dont know the name/number.  No message left.  Time to add this number to the ones I report to the FCC.

frequent calls from this and another 434 area code no. in "brookneal, VA" the caller was telemarketing  or phishing for "VA loan or VA mortgage" holders.  told them they had the wrong no. as no one has a VA mortgage at the no. they were calling, and told them to update their contact info data list and to stop calling.

I received a call but it terminated when I asked the caller to repeat a sentence. I called back several times and finally received an voice that was very difficult to understand.
I explained that they were annoying me with their calls and I would annoy them enough to get my number off their call list.

I suggest that everyone call this number randomly throughout the day in order to change their call patterns.

About 3-4 calls per week. No one at the other end when I answer the phone.

Called at 10:43 a.m.  Hung up when answering machine picked up.

Call came around 11 this morning. Caller ID said UNKNOWN NAME, therefore I didn't answer. I NEVER answer such calls. Seems it only rang 3 times. No message was left. Just another scammer I guess.

Keep getting calls with no massage

One poster mentioned a lady with a thick accent. I must have got the same person as I had difficulty understanding her and my hearing is pretty good. I think she mentioned the name of my insurance company and either she guessed (it's a major carrier) of she had gotten ahold of information somewhere. I kept asking if they were affiliated with my insurance company and she wouldn't give a straight answer....just kept going back to the script. Then she was asking if I was HMO or PPO. When I said I wouldn't give that information out over the phone when I hadn't initiated the call she hung up.  Something is really fishy here and I'm pretty sure it the species known as SCAM.

BTW callerID was Brookneal, VA as indicated by other posters.

Caller ID said, "Brookneal, VA." Didn't answer. Figured it's just one more of the dozen or so f*&ng spam calls I get daily.

Just called here at 10:14hrs on 1/27/14.  I do not answer calls I do not recognize.  It went to the recorder but no message was left.  I have blocked the number

Got a call earlier this morning from this number. Caller ID said "Brookneal". The caller had a thick accent, which along with my severe hearing loss, made it most frustrating to understand what she was saying. The call came in on my mother's landline which is not equipped to handle my hearing loss needs.

Having worked for a call center in the past, I don't recall her mentioning that this call may be recorded for whatever reason. Another unusual aspect of the call is that she asked to speak with (Ms. myLastName) or (my mother's full name); odd in that the phone number is only associated with my mother, not with me. The caller said something about my mother being eligible for medicare, so there were free medical items that she could get. Sorry, can't get more specific here as I just couldn't understand what the caller was saying, despite asking her to clarify several times, she just kept repeating the same phrase over and over each time I asked (sticking to her script, I would guess).

Finally after getting nowhere, I told her to put us on their Do-Not-Call-List and that we were on the national Do-Not-Call-Registry and that if her company continued to call, I would file complaints with the appropriate authority. She claimed that they were not telemarketers (which would allow them to get around the Do-Not-Call Registry) and said that she would put on on their Do-Not-Call-List.

Finding the comments on this forum about this phone number confirms my initial instincts. Thanks posters!

call here and hang up right away. bounced the # back and got 434 236 4146. been going on for a couple of days now.

They called and hung up. I called back and asked who they are. He said his name was Sam and he was calling about the senior back brace that is on tv. I said my back is fine and my doctor would prescribe one if my back is messed up. I also told them they are a scam and that if your product was so good, why do you have to call people? They hung up.

They are calling my cell phone, too.

Called.  No one on the other line.  Annoying.
