Total SCAM.  Free home security system AND $3,000 for groceries?  Who are they kidding.  All they want is your personal info, so they can steal from you.  Don't fall for it.

I get calls from this number from time to time. It is listed as Charlottesville, VA.but who knows. To deal with the dirtbags like this I have turned the ringer off and they get tired of no response after a while and stop calling. It works well because real people call on the cell phone and I NEVER answer a call from a number I don't know.

Unwanted calls from 434-422-9317 (male voice) and also 213-710-8354 (female voice).  To deliver emergency life support stuff.  I try to have fun with these and others who call.  If the ask for so and so I tell them to hold on and I'll transfer your call, press (I do a bunch) any number button, and act as it is a transfer (sir he said his name was dip stick would like to talk to you), tell the party who called okay I'll transfer you now.  Hang up.  :)

1.  You can ignore all calls from numbers you don't recognize - but that's very hard to do, especially if you're from the age when a phone rings you answer it.  They MAY stop calling, but that's doubtful.
2.  You can answer it and play mind games with them until they hang up.  They WILL continue to call AND sell your number since you have assured them this is an active phone number.
3.  You can purchase a hand set (like a Panasonic) that can block a limited number of calls.  The calls WILL slow down but the telemarketers will just use a different number and get through again.
4.  You can purchase a smart modem for your computer and a program (e.g. PhoneTray) to handle your landline phone calls.  You can block an unlimited amount of numbers and even entire area codes, including blocking by Caller ID names.  When a new number calls that isn't blocked, you can block it with a click of the mouse.
5.  You can also get rid of your phones since this problem is a very long way from going away.

Please report all telemarketers to the DNC & FCC.  Although individual cases are not investigated, significant numbers of coplaints are.  The squeeky wheel gets the oil.

Best of luck!

Jennifer, please realize that pushing either #1or #5 or 2 million gets you absolutely nowhere with these scammers.  They don't care anything about you and you are nothing but a mark to hoodwink.  When you press those suggested #s, it lets them know that yours is a working # and they will keep calling.  If you have call blocking, add that #.  If not, when you don't recognize the #, DON'T ANSWER.  These crooks manage to stay several steps of any enforcement agency.

"Jim" called from 434-422-9317 stating that he was setting up delivery of medical supplies and that they had already been paid for as well as $3,000 in groceries.  He repeated this from a script several times and to "Press 1" to confirm, etc.

This was a robocall.  When I pressed 1 I was put on hold and finally a female came on and said her name (she was speaking so fast I did not understand her) and went into Agent 239842947649874 or whatever.

I started to say "Do Not Call" but she hung up

I love call screening. Phone will not even ring if call is from this number. Scammers get a message that I am not accepting calls at this time. I figure that this gets me off the list and although I am limited to blocking 12 numbers I can just rotate as necessary.

No the calls did not stop.  I've been getting them for over two months.  Have reported them to everyone I can think of and no one seems interested in putting a stop to this. If anyone has any ideas I would really like to hear them.

I agree some elderly person could very well fall for this fraud. I think it's disgusting for anyone to prey on the elderly. It's people like this company who should be thrown in jail forever.

I have been receiving these calls from 434-422-9317 for a while. It's also offering me a life emergency system like Life Alert. It states its already been paid for and will be shipped to me at no additional charge, it will give me peace of mind....... I don't think so bc I'm not a senior citizen, I'm 36. I also get the recording that sounds a areal person reading a pretyped announcement it sounds like he gets lost in the recording as a real person may do. It gets through the lllloooonnnngggg drawn out bull crap message that was recorded and says to accept your free life emergency system press 1, or to be removed from the list of future calls press 5. If you press 5 it says thank you your number will be removed from our calling list. Well evidently pressing 5 is crap bc I've been getting these calls for 3 months. At first I gave the benefit of the doubt thinking well maybe it takes a little while to update the call list. For the next few days I continued to press 5 thinking they will finally get the memo but unfortunately they didn't. So I decided the next time I get this call I will press 1 and talk to the rep and explain that I have pressed the option to be removed and I'm still getting these calls. The rep got kinda snappy and well to tell you the truth I unleashed a fury on her she then apologized and said thru would remove it. Two days later the calls started up again so everytime I continued to press 1 and told them to remove me. I kid you not after pressing 5 to remove my number a total of six times, and I have verbally told them about 8 more times I'm getting highly irate. I've had those twerps get down right crappy with me and a couple of them have hung up on me before I finish my sentence. Well if I'm hung up on that sends me to a whole other level of beginning PO. I call the number back and could not get an answer. I'm about to threaten legal action as they are violating the do not call law after being told multiple times to remove my number. I have started documenting everything that happens with their calls and I have even started recording the calls. I document the time of the call, who I spoke to, and the date, I've also been keeping record of how many calls per day. I strongly advise people not to fall for this fraud and also if you are receiving calls for donations for police that is also a fraud.

Although it sounded like a live person, he did not react when I told his to "Kiss my a$$". This scam about "free" stuff for seniors must dupe a lot of people. They actually do send you the emergency alert, but charge you a monthly fee you cannot get out of.

Caller ID Virginia. Caller has called at least four times trying to schedule a time to come to my home to deliver my "Life Emergency System". When informed I never ordered such a thing he said oh, it is paid for, a friend or loved one who cares about your safety must have ordered.  Since I'm a young 50, I DON"T THINK SO....  A scammer either trying to get into your home to case the joint, or trying to deliver a Life System that requires a hefty monthly subscription fee.  Very bold, very bullying even when informed that I was going to record the call to give to the police, kept talking and trying to persuade.  If he reaches an actual old person, he may succeed in forcing himself into the home.  I have made a police report to Fairfax County Police.
