Caller id said Quebec when I answer they say nothing
yes. called my home. spoke French, saying few words i didn't catch, then "J'aurais du fait le mauvais numero." - meaning "I must have dialed the wrong number." Then, hung up.
Central Iowa Business
Same scenario - caller id'd as 438-793-5481 at 8:06pm - usually do not answer out of area calls as they are never good - but decided I would go for it this time. Some woman spoke a quick sentence of French among some background noise and then hung up. I will know better next time.
caller id show Quebec Call muttered a couple of foreign (French) words
They are collecting data, i.e., who answers, who does not and who uses an answering machine. The purpose of this, as yet, is unknown.
My blocked caller ID log indicates Montreal PQ. What does PQ stand for? Pretty quick or pretty qu***. LOL! What a bunch of losers. Seriously this spoof call is most likely from the Chicago area or perhaps Akron Ohio that uses this obscure area code. My best guess is that the call comes from the back room or a contractor of the debt collector out of the 866 or 773 area code used by the company to harass those they cannot contact. Since I have no debt, I like to play games with them. The Lexus Nexus (company that snoops on people) sometimes gives them wrong information. If you want to contact me come to my front door or send me a postal letter. Once I can confirm your ID we could have a very productive conversation.
Got a call; they spoke something in French; and they hung up.
Same as above. Speaks another language and hangs up.
I believe this is the first time I've ever seen phrase "play coy and string them along" in a FCC document.
(esp. with reference to a woman) making a pretense of shyness or modesty that is intended to be alluring.
"she treated him to a coy smile of invitation"
In the past, the FCC has refrained from suggesting victims of number spoofing attempt to sexually seduce offenders into making admissions. The gloves may have come off at the FCC, but personally, I'm keeping my pants on.
Here we go again.
Just got a call from this # yesterday. Didn't discover it until I was deleting calls from my log tonight. I called back and left a message. I only stated my phone number. Told them if it was a wrong number no problem, but if it was one of my friends or family to call back. I do have friends and family in Montreal.
Only wish I had checked online before I called back.
Yes. I am also on the do not call list. I have been getting many calls from an 800 service the connections are very bad and the callers sound like they are from India or Pakistan-they all want info from me on my vehicle and insurance. They all start their script by saying that car insurance has gone up 35%. I have told them I am on DNC listing. No the phone rings ID show 800 service and it hangs up before anyone can speak. I think they are on an autodialer and have to hang up manually. You'd think they'd just remove the number from the file.
I would love to string the Quebec call along, but do not speak fluent French. I will not be answering calls from this number anymore. They will be summarily deleted. We screen all our calls.
I do not believe that you are who you say you are. Prove it or else we call shill/scammer on you.
This call's caller ID (which of course can be spoofed) says it comes from Canada. How are you going to put a stop to that?
P. Michele Ellison, FCC Chief, Enfrcmnt.

I just received a call form this number too. I normally would not answer a number I did not know but I am waiting on a call from Canada. The woman spoke French and spoke quickly. I almost felt it was random and recorded. Just do not answer if they call back..and I would call back if I spoke French but since I do not, there is no point. Happy New Year.
Received this call minutes ago. Caller said something in French and hang up 2 second later. I called back right away and got a voice message in French.
