Seems he's using another method I received this from him after I posted looking for work:

I have had both a Gary Williams and John Lipton send me the same text and the same email asking about one of my kijiji listings. Weird

"Thanks for your corporation"...????!!! Haha, hilarious. Is that some kind of joke, or did he just not know how to spell cooperation?

Lol, I just received the same two emails. First asking for the price which was clearly posted. My first clue. I began to question their intelligence. I also didn't recognize the area code. His grammar is poor and he didn't even try to negotiate. I found these things strange which upped my suspicion. After replying to his first text message with an email, no harm in trying. I received the second email like many of you, which seemed to good to be true and strange. After scrolling down I noticed he wanted to know which State I live in. I live in a Province in Canada. This fellow clearly has very little strategy in his approach, he is just taking a mass volume approach with this scam. It's sad to see the less astute members of society preying on other less astute victims. This approach will clearly only work for a certain subsect of the market.

All it took was a quick Google search of "Gary Williams" and "Kijiji Scams" to root out this poor attempt.

We just had them call or text to voice mail the thing that rang a bell is interested in your item what is price Well first off what item is it also price is on all items and speak proper English  I really hope these people get caught

Also they don't spell correctly they spell like they talk chopped English what I don't understand is if PayPal is so safe how is this done I know they ask u to pay the shipper once u get there money but if its in the PayPal account what happens from there.we have had several of these buyers and also they post ads with the same story that they are in Egypt and won't be back for months so if u like u can go view the item and if u want it eg motor home then he will send u the ownership and u wire or Paypal him the money I bet he didn't even own the item

As for the payment..i can only pay via PayPal online secure payment..I
insisted on PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account
online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal
account, as i  have my bank a/c attached to it

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after
the payment has been made ...so no shipping included and With the
issue of my details,transferring the name of ownership and signing of
all paperwork will be done by the courier services company agent so
you don't have to worry about that.

You can now send me your PayPal email like this below so i can pay in
right away and also include your address in your reply.

Me too - this guy is a piece of work, unfortunately he is also a moron.

This guy is a real piece of work.  He doesn't even have enough smarts to change things in his email and is using the same email format and excuses with everyone he is trying to scam.  He is way too anxious to close a deal and needs to learn how to speak English.  He starts with a text message and then fraudulently sends you phoney Paypal emails.  He may catch a few unsuspecting and trusting souls but sooner or later he will get exactly what he deserves.  The calls are generated from a landline in Montreal.  Would love to see this piece of crap get arrested or worse.  Sooner or later he will mess up and scam someone that can find him and deal him the justice he deserves.  One of the great disadvantages of modern communications.

I got the Exact same text message and email reply.

After a bit of emailing back and forth I asked him where exactly he was located. This is how he replied:

i have been expecting your responds for some days now , i came to
Canada for photo in Ontario when i saw your advert online and im
completely in love with it , so i decided to make the purchase and
transport it to Texas which is where i live with my family ..

I know you are new to this and you have not been dealing with shipping
company , but i can tell that this will be safety for both parties ,
ijust have to confirm my last email from you before completing the
transfer , but since you did not responds on time i have to wait for
your responds ..

Just let me know if you want me to go ahead with transfer and i will
do that just now ...

I got the exact same message in a reply to a kijiji ad I posted for rims and tires. it seemed fishy to me right away, so I never responded to him.  obviously some type of scam, or possibly a scam-ola.

always trust your gut when dealing with strangers, and use kijiji for hand to hand cash transactions only.

We had the same thing happen today.

We posted an ad on Kijiji selling Rims and Tires, Mr. "Gary Williams" sent a text message asking for the price when the price was clearly posted.

After reading this email, I replied by asking where is his location and didn't receive an answer as of yet.

I am not sure what the scam is but I am not interested!

Everyone- Kijiji & Craigslist are NOT eBay. They were meant to be local only, cash only. WHY would someone 2000 miles away buy your car (sight unseen)? - They wouldn't. The warning signs of this scam  are (1) Text only, won't phone (2) Want to ship to another country (3) 3rd party shipper (4) Can only buy with Paypal (5) They live far away, but want to buy your baby grand piano.....and last, but NEVER least...(6) ANY mention of the words "Western Union"

He's responding to our Kajiji add too....This guy is very strange.  Private courier to pick up $1000 of used furniture?!

i got the exact same post

Got a text from this number asking how much I was asking for my tires and rims which I posted on Kijiji.  Seems I'm not the only person he contacted for the same thing.  The thing that made me suspicious was that he wanted to deposit an addition $300 to my PayPal account so that I could pay the shipping.  It sounded fishy so I told him the deal was off.  Who in their right mind would trust someone they don't know with $300 which I sincerely believe would never have been deposited in my account.  No doubt I would have received a bogus email from PayPal stating that it was deposited and if I didn't bother to check the account I'd be paying someone $300 out of my account for nothing.  Too risky.

Here's the email I got from this guy with the details regarding the payments.

it was actually a text message that I got. he/she seemed interested in one of my kijiji ads asking how much the item was selling for when they must have seen the ad it the price is clearly on it.
