My grandmother received the same type of phone call today from a similar phone number 438-933-9557. Person who called said that they were my brother actually knew his real name. Same type of story. That my brother went to Peru for his best friend Mike's(he doesn't know anyone named Mike) funeral. Same type of story about the narcotics. That they tested my brother's blood and it came back clean.(Funny thing as he has a back injury and is on pain management for opiates there would be no way that it would come out clean)
Now here is where it gets interesting...
I am not going to give the real upcoming name he gave my grandmother, instead I am going to make up a name to protect my investigation.
Then another person came on as a second voice, whose name was Andrew Brandie(again not the real name he gave her).
I believe he said that he worked at the Embassy. The person's name is the first name of my uncle and his last name is the name of her dog. (One may not notice that, but if a person has that information they use it to gain rapport subconciously.)
That person said that she had 24 hours other wise my "brother" would be sent to jail for 30 days.
My grandparents live in a gated community in NJ. I believe whoever these people are, are somehow related to the gated community that my grandparents live in. As they have the have the name of their dog registered with the community. They also needed to register the names of our family we can get in just by saying our name and the address and who we are visiting.
I am in the process of investigating who these are. I don't care if I have to file a lawsuit here in the US and in Canada. The power of a subpoena duces tecum is a great thing. Even though they said to western union the money to Peru, I am sure that the main culprit is local. As my grandmother said that both of them sounded local.. And if you are the scammer out there, trust me..I will find you...

Prank Call
Grandma this is your grandson.

Me:  Which grandson?

Your oldest.

Me:  XXXX where are you?

I'm in trouble.  The guy I was driving with, well we got pulled over for speeding and they found narcotics in his car and they arrested us both.  My drug test was okay but they are holding me.  Can you help?

Me:  No I don't have any money.

Okay I'm going to call dad.  I need to get out of here today.

I knew right away this was NOT my oldest grandson.  I wish now I would have listened to more before he hung up.  He had a New Jersey/New York accent.

Grandma, I need help.  I've been arrested and they found drugs in the car I was in.  I tested drug free but need $2000 to get out of jail.  Don't tell anyone.  Not Mom, or the Western Union.  I've heard they're nosy. It will be refunded in 48 hours and I'll pay you back.  Here's the police man to tell you how to wire the cash to me.  John Davis here, have you ever done this before?  I'll give you the nearest Western Union.  It's Basha's. Do you know where that is?  Wire it  to Paul Weber, 101 Park Road, Mexico City Federal, Mexico.  The bailbondsman works as a lawyer for Waxberg & Assoc.

.  Then I stated that I needed to talk to my grandson again, but was told it was not possible, he was back in the courtroom.  I stated it sounded fishy and seemed like a scam I had been hearing about and I wanted to .....the phone line went dead.

Called my grandson and he was on his way home from work and not in trouble.  The above number was on my caller ID.  A cell phone with the number listed in Canada.

Thank you for letting me vent.  This grandma's not senile yet!
