Send them a demand for validation letter (per the FDCPA), certified with a return receipt.  Also put a cease and desist demand in the this letter, telling them not to call you at home or at work.  Most CA's cannot properly validate the alleged debt.  And they just go away.  This method has always worked for me over the years.  Do not ever talk to them, they will just enrage you ruining your day.  And first and foremost, never ever pay them a red cent.

This is a collection company.  They called me at work.  I did not take the call.  I then returned the call, as they clearly stated that the call is being recorded, and told them to never call me at work again!

They called my workplace! How did they even get this number. Especially since I have no clue who they are.  Seems to me these kind of calls from companies I don't know come out of the woodwork (as they say) around tax return time.  Coincidence ? I think not.  Sending a cease and desist order if I can find an address.

So, they are liars.  Don't pick up their calls if you can avoid it, and if possible, do a lookup to get an address you can send a cease and desist letter to; then you can sue THEM if they continue to contact you.  Most consumer attorneys love this type of case; the idiots basically sue themselves.  And, under no circumstances give your step-son the message.  If this connection was 22 years ago, then even if he DID owe money then, he doesn't still owe it now;statute of limitations.

keep calling for step son who lived with us 22 years ago.  They say this is his listed #.  Quit calling Seniors who don't owe a dan thing!!!

I told these ppl i had to cancel my payments cuz they had made up made crap up as they went along,... we had an agreement and they told me it back then when i spoke with them again they told me different crap...so not coolz...so i canceled my payments now they all of sudden try to call me on my phone.. from local numbers so i dont refuse to answer them when i dont answer it... they did not leave a message so hopped online to look up number and this popped up all these complains and i hate it....

collection call from "Michael Ward" c/b number given as 888-505-1573

I just received a call from this number. I didn't recognize it so I didn't pick up. I did a reverse look-up and didn't get anything from that. When I called the number back the company was called United Recovery System, which is a debt collection service.
