Just had this same number passed along to me and keyed it in to determine who I was calling- got this forum thread.  If this subject comes up, most racehorse breeders in the USA (both Tbred and Sbred) are now aware of two racehorse adoption programs.  If there is a real need to adopt out racehorse, a call to either CANTER USA or to New Vocation Racehorse Adoption can move these critters into loving homes.  If there is real concern for abuse or overcrowding, make the call to the local sheriff's animal control or better yet, to the HUmane Society.  These animals will be placed in rescues or adoption programs.  Pass it along.

What's all this bs about horse meat.  I got a call from this number and it was another credit scam.

Horse slaughter is NOT illegal in the US, but it has been banned in some states.

Putting a horse down is not illegal in the U.S people are confusing everything!

People are idiot when they hear about something, like a bill was proposed and accepted in congress they think it automatically become a law.....

I've had horse and the meat cannot be mistaken for beef, impossible, like i said unless you can't tell color apart or texture!

Horse meat is a lot darker, but at a point where it look like cooked beef with soy sauce or something, and its less tender ''generally''

my husband has hauled horses to slaughter and it is illegal in the us but not right across the border at crosby crossing hundreds last year alone.

My number was mass emailed and reposted with this post back in feb and today!  I got ahold of lynn back in feb and she was very nasty to me!  My number is only one off of the origional number posted.  I asked her to please remove what ads she had placed and put a message on her voicemail for people to not call the alternative number.  Instead, the next few days, I got tons of frantic calls, because she changed her message to ask everyone to please call the alternate number, mine!  Thanks alot!  I would like to thank those of you, who when I explained I had nothing to do with the horses, and believed it was fake, who did tell those whom they had heard story from to not harrass me!  I recrived calls from all over the country then, much like throughout the day today!  Very frustrated!

NEW INFORMATION IS COMING OUT on this story. People who actually knew Dr. Stearns are coming forward, and none of them can say who Lynn Boggs is.
They do, however, say that Dr. Stearns was a respected member of his community, with ties to the Cleveland Mounted Police, among other horse communities.
They are also saying that Dr. Stearns' began being placing his horses privately, prior to his passing, as he had recently fallen ill. Most importantly, DR. STEARNS HORSES NEVER FACED SLAUGHTER.
They have described the Lynn Boggs story as a malicious lie.
She sure did a number on the reputation of a good man.
How long will it take for the truth to go viral, without the hype and fear that her lies carried?

Not illegal to kill horses in Us just dont have a current slaughter for them. Vets can uthnise them or you can put them down your self. If we where allowed to slaughter horses in this country they wouldnt be starving and being turned loose in thw wild creating havock.

Why was the Drafty Barn Rescue allowed to take the horses, if they couldn't afford to feed them? And now what happens, they starve? Or will they end up at the Drafty Barn Rescue owner's favorite Sugarcreek (kill buyer) auction? She was on the wkyc news in Cleveland in 2008, proclaiming she would give her "right breast to Leroy Baker if he asked". Leroy Baker is the owner of the Sugarcreek auction that Boggs used to frighten everyone in her posts. Praying for the 12 horses they got. This whole thing is sickening.

This is Lynn Boggs' friend who took 12 of the alleged 52 horses. You can all watch the video and decide if this story was on the up and up for yourselves. Praying for those horses.

I received a message from a Euclid Ohio police officer,  who personally knew Dr. Stearns, and states that AT NO TIME WERE DR. STEARNS' HORSES UNDER THREAT OF SLAUGHTER! Furthermore, the Dr. was a well respected member of the horse community, including the Cleveland Mounted Police. Others who knew the Dr. are beginning to come forward, and all are saying that this story was never true! None have any idea who Lynn Boggs is.
The only thing I've found connecting her to Dr. Stearns is her boyfriend, Jerry Noss, who worked for the Dr. as barn manager at Harmony Hills in Barnesville, Ohio, until the farm was closed, per the Dr.'s wishes prior to passing. When given notice to close the farm in one week, upon the good Dr.'s passing, this fantastic and frightening story emerged.
You, Lynn Boggs, have done nothing short of slandering the name of a good man and his son.
There may have been horses in need of homes (maybe your own, now that the farm closed and free board is gone?), but THEY WERE NOT DR. STEARNS HORSES!

this is my number and it was NOT a hoax.  and Yes the horses have been adopted..and yes miracles do happen...and yes horses do go to slaughter every day to canada and Mexico bought in the USA at auctions like SugarCreek..and no i am NOT being investigated...some police have called me and verified this is for real

Ever hear about  adopting them out? You don't sound intelligent enough to be a trucker-if you are hopefully you will try out the "cheaper" way, painless I hear-only 2  seconds, instead of the rest of your life sounding like an idot.

I was going to head down there w/a few trailers...Instead I came across too many "if's" and problems with the phone number, called the State Police instead.  We own horses and were going to take all of them till they could have been adopted.  

Slaughter is still legal in the US, just as 1 other commenter said, not for human consumption here, but I imagine they ship to other countries.

I've notifed the Ohio State Police who have had numerous complaints about this fraud.  Bye-bye criminals, whether your 2 year-olds or not, you have the mentality.

Thank God the horses were all adopted.

This is not a scam. All horses found homes, and go to bloodhorse,com to read the story. I helped Lynn Spread the word of this, and it was great that they all found homes. For those of you ranting about Dr. Stearns that his death was a scam, Please Shut Up Now, You Sound Ridiculous, and May The Great Man Rest in Peace Knowing all of his horses found good homes.
