Call was an automated message "if you have 15000 more more in unsecured debt we can help.  press 2 to be removed, press 1 to speak to an agent".

This number called my cell phone but I wasn't able to answer.  After reading the varied comments from everyone I will add mine.  It is fairly easy to alter Caller ID.  This number is probably being used as a "screen" by several people with different purposes.  I also received a call (but only one) so in my case I think it is a private investigator looking for ingormation OR my boyfriend's wife.

Some kind of debt consolidation gimmick. Calls with recording.

I see the complaints are piling up.  A poster above said it correctly, these folks have no compunctions about calling anyone on the Do Not Call List.  Most calls of this sort I miss and there is never a message.

Received a call from this number on 10/19 @ 2:24PM.  I missed call.  No message.  Don't know anything else except it originates from Cleveland, OH.  Seems to be a random telemarketing Finance Company.

These people call me at least three times a week, sometimes more then once in a day.  I have never answered...

Has called my cell phone twice.  No voice mail left.  I won't answer the phone for anyone I don't know.  It costs me minutes.

These people called my phone just a few minutes ago ... a guy named Greg left a message and said to call back if I want to lower my credit card payments and set up an APR of 1 1/2%.  He wanted all of my credit card info.  The phone # he left to call back was 866-779-3934.  Called the 440-499-0408 and got no where; called the 866-779-3934 # back and it was busy.  Idiots!

Got call from 440-499-0408. I talked with guy there. I asked their address and he said "you're trying to trick me. " I said I wanted to send them some information. He wouldn't give their address, He told me about credit cards I have etc. and then said, "I'll make you a proposition. I'll make charges on your credit cards, you dispute them and I'll split the money with you."

I asked him what? He repeated it.

I said I have your phone number. I was P.O.d.

He hung up.

These idiots tell you to "press 3" to get off their call list.  Do it and it hangs up on you.  Next time I tried pressing "1" to talk to an agent, who also hung up on me when I asked to be removed from their call list.  Finally, I called the caller ID number and got a sugar-sweet message about their mortgage services..."press 2" to be removed from their company call list, led to a no one is available please leave a message and we'll call you back.  What a load of crap.

Same here - got a call today 10/16/2007 on my mobile phone - automated message claiming that they will reduce my debt.

Just got a call on my cell phone - same illegal scamming as 888-146-9696. Same message even.

I've got this call twice, same thing as everyone here reports.

1-440-499-0408: Talked to a guy who spoke poor English (Black?) Went along, he wanted to lower my Credit Card rate. He tried to get my CC Number to verify me- I am no fool so I played with him then said I was the FBI. The number Above is not the number if you call back for the credit card rate lower scam, its for a mortgage company. They changed the called I.D number which is easy. They are off shore criminals. Be careful!!!!
