I've posted this before and gotten good replies.

The feds should work with the credit card companies and create tracing cards. These numbers should be given to the scammers as bait. As soon as a charge is made, the merchant account is shut down and the merchant is arrested (along with all collaborators).
There are two reasons this will never happen though:
1. The credit card companies receive substantial revenue from criminal activity and want to protect that stream.
2. The feds don't give a rats a** as long as the politicians get there lobby money.

I think it's up to us to find them, grind them up, then turn them into pet food as they are no more than predators.

File a formal charge with the Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-4357. They will take the information and all the different numbers. They sound pretty promising. I was told that they closed some operations down and are after the credit card scammers. Since I filed a complaint, the scammers don't call me from the numbers I reported; they use a new number and caller ID.

Having caller ID, I guess she didn't like the way I said "hello".  All she said was "Wow" before I gave her an earful.  Then she waited about 10 second before she hung up.

These people have been calling me from various spoofed numbers for about three years now.  Driving me insane!  I've done some research, because I couldn't understand how it could be profitable for them to employ people to attempt to get credit card information when the most consumers are savvy about not providing personal and financial information over the phone.  If you're foolish enough to provide it, all the better, but I've done some research, and they're really making money on the volume of the calls their computers launch.  Every time their caller ID information (albeit phony) is displayed on your phone, home or cell,  the offshore telecom company that was created for the scam is entitled to a small fraction of a penny, it might take thousands of  calls to add up to a dollar, but imagine that their robots are programmed to dial a million or two numbers every day--it becomes thousands of dollars each and every day.  Once you, or a voicemail, or answering machine picks up the call, it is identified as a working number, saved in a database, and the calls never stop.  They get their fractions of pennies whether you pick up the phone or not if their information is displayed on a caller ID, but if you do pick up, invariably you have to press a button to speak to one of their "representatives"--that's when the robo-call is transferred to a live person who will attempt to extract information from you as long as you are on the line, that's just a bonus for them.  I also get calls from a "Canadian pharmacy," as I'm sure many others do, those come three or four or five times a day.  They want to provide my prescriptions at discounted prices, despite the fact that I take no prescriptions and have repeatedly instructed them to remove my name from their rolls.  These calls, both on my home and cell phone numbers are making me crazy, and I suspect something could be done if those in positions of power took it seriously--I've filed numerous complaints with the FCC, FTC and contacted my congressman more than once.  Nothing seems to get done.  But that's the rub as I understand it from researching these crooks.

I got this caller yesterday and I waited on the line to speak with someone. A woman answers and I immediately asked her to please not call me anymore as I'm not interested in her services. She told me that my credit line was in jeopardy because of so much outstanding credit card debit. I asked her how she knew this, and she said that they have access to peoples credit histories that owe considerable amounts of money to creditors. Perhaps my banks have alerted these third party solicitors to provide me aid in reducing my debt. I don't know for sure what it's all about, but I'm going to contact my banks and ask them if they've forwarded my information to third party solicitors. Anyway getting back to the caller, I told her that I really don't do business over the phone and perhaps send me some information in the mail or my email address. I gave the caller my home address and email address. Hopefully they'll just send me their brochures or whatever in the mail and some information to my email and not be calling me anymore.

Wrong! They busted the original Rachel, and have busted others since then. Tracking these monsters and busting them takes time. Do you think they only have the one set of call types to deal with? Do you think they only have one scam to track?

We can send people to the moon but cannot find a way to get rid of all robo callers and spammers.

What the government needs to do is go after these people and slap fines on them. These people are the phone versions of hackers. There has to be some kind of criminal act involved. Government should form a phone task force and put a stop to it. Set the fine at $500, with half going to the person reporting the caller and half to government to pay law enforcement agents to go after these scammers.  They will be flooded with calls and money at the same time.

After all, we pay our phone bills and have a right to choose who can call us.

Told her Yes, and called her numerous expletives and blew the "SCAMMER HORN" .
Shortly I asked "Are you still there X."

So called her a few more expletives calling her a "Scamming XXXXX."and bagain blew the"SCAMMER HORN"
Stopped briefly and listened and she asked "Are you Done?"
I told her "NO with more expletives and the "SCAMMER HORN" and at about the 3 minute mark she hung up.

Hey Jim,
thanks for the elaborate description as I know a few people that have fallen for the computer fix and auto warranty.
We recently got new phone service and it has caller ID which allows me to not answer these calls anymore.  I am on the DO NOT CALL Registry but as you another fake number will be used tomorrow.

Debt Collector
Been getting these calls from various numbers, 'reduce your credit card debt, blah blah blah, second and final call, press '1' now to talk to a representative'.

Started answering the calls and getting someone wanting my information. I talk real slow to take up their time, ramble on a bit about which cards I owe what on (no numbers given out), ask if it covers department store and big box hardware store cards too, give them a bogus amount that I 'owe'. They usually hang up after about 2-5 mins. I guess Card Services has some kind of quota of calls each tele-wuss has to take per hour and my rambling on eats into their earnings.

Of course, it also keeps them from going on to the next debtor that they can 'help'!

Next time, I will try Consuela the Griffins' housekeeper. Hello? No, Mr.Griffin no heeeere!

I just received a call from Westlake, OH. 440-617-5677  -- The woman on the other end started on her sales talk, I interrupted and asked her to remove me from her calling list, she then said "go f*#k yourself", This took me by surprise and I said "What?" she then repeated her statement and I replied "Well that would probably be a lot better than f*#king your nasty a**" she hung up. 10 minutes later I get a call from "Card Services" 360-322-6668 This call was a robo, I press the button to speak to a live person, when they come on the woman sounded a lot like the first caller, I asked to be removed from the calling list and she just hung up on me. There has to be a way to shut these people down, I suggest an Air Strike !

got another robocall from 440-617-5677 caller ID said "SURVEY" on Wednesday 05-21-14 @ 945 AM

The phone rang 3 times picked it up and the female voice gave the 'lower' your Credit Card info......press 1 to talk to representative or 3 to be removed.
Pressed 1 and the recording said 'You are the 12th caller in line".....then in 5 seconds a male came on the line and said he was from 'Visa/MasterCard' ..balh...blah....and I was called because of my great payment history. He then asked me about what  credit cards I had, total amount on the cards, and interest info, which I gave him a 'bunch of crap'. He said he had to identify me and and asked my Zip Code, so gave him a suburb nearby and he then asked for the last 4 digits of my SS#. Well at that point, we were done with his SCAMMING as I gave him blasts from the "SCAMMER HORN" interspersed with numerous expletives then more "SCAMMER HORN" with even more expletives and alternating until he finally hung-up.
All told must have tied him up for around 7-8 minutes before he got the "SCAMMER HORN".

The government cannot go after scammers in a foreign country.  Although these calls look like they are in the U.S., they are NOT!  They spoof a U.S. phone number.  These calls are NOT coming from within our borders.

You are correct that all phone companies are really happy with these harrassing calls, because the more calls there are, the richer the phone companies become.  More revenue for them, Comcast, AT&T, etc.  Be prepared for HUNDREDS of calls a day.  The phone companies have found a way that they can now be BILLIONAIRES at our expense.  They are unstoppable, folks.  We are their prey.  There is NO way out.  Be prepare to answer your phones 24/7!!!  NO way out, folks.
