Recorded message says they are calling from McCarthy Burgess and Wolf with an important business matter to discuss.  It says to call this number and gives a reference number.  They have been calling for weeks, several times a day.  Annoying, because I work as a receptionist and have no idea which employee the message is for.  I keep thinking if it's a legitimate business matter, eventually a real person will call, but they haven't yet.  I suspect it's a scam

I kept getting calls too.  Thought it was a scam.  Finally called them back.  They were very nice.  Said I owed Verizon $500+.  I don't have Verizon.  And haven't in nearly a decade.  Don't owe then anything.  I explained that it wasn't me or my debt.  Obviously an error.   They apologized and said they'd quit calling.  So, I can't complain.

Once the collection agency receives your cease and desist letter they can communicate with you once more, via mail, letting you know one of three things: that further efforts to collect the debt are terminated, that certain actions may be taken by the debt collector, or that the debt collector is definitely going to take certain actions.

When you send the cease and desist letter to the debt collector, send it via certified mail with return receipt requested. This will provide proof that the letter was sent and received. If the debt collector communicates with you beyond the single instance allowed by law, this evidence will allow you to seek punitive action against the debt collector.

called urging very important forms came across her desk. they said they sent a letter already and were very evasive about what it was about.
her name was jeanette and she sounded like a small kitten would die if we didnt contact her back

Recording from McCarthy, Burgess & Wolf.  Left message to call 440-735-5118, and said to refer to case 21860957.  This is the second time I have taken this message from the switchboard.

just got my first two calls yesterday and today!  WHAT A SCAM!!

I have no issue with Verizon. I told them to stop calling. They said no. All their voicemails get deleted immediately. I tried to be helpful to them but they just don't listen. Too bad for their staff. What a crappy job they have, calling people over and over "about an important matter"
Use the real legal system, sue someone in Court, or bug off and stop calling people on the phone. Simply obnoxious. This is 2011. Come on people.

Claim that they collect for Verizon, however my Verizon account is open and active, wtf??

Received a call from 440-735-5118 or Blocked. It's Tiffany from McCarthy Verges and Wolf regarding a file number. The poster before said it's regarding Verizon... I have a Verizon account I've paid off showing past due. Called Verizon and they sold my account to this company in collections even though it's paid and I have confirmation and date. Verizon couldn't access my acct any longer and gave this number to call. McCarthy verges and wolf said they don't report to the credit agencies and they will check with Verizon. If it wasn't paid they'd call me within a week! WTH??? It's a legitimate call according to Verizon... Ugh, so irritated. It's paid!!!!

This call is a SCAM claiming to be a collection agency for Verizon...they reference a "file #" and try to get you to hand over a payment via your credit card.  They are obviously a scam...have no data and are completely unprofessional.  I asked if they would like my credit card data...of course they did so I said "I'll be happy to give it to you to stick up your A**!"

the recording states that this is a call from maccarthy and verge,s and wolf law offices and that they have a very importent matter to discuss with you and to please call them at 440-735-5118 and ref. a number when calling them this recording calls my phone number as maney as 15 times a day or more some days if i am not hometo errase the answering machine it will fill it you with just there calls and no one other then themcan leave me a message and i have had some majore medical condision problems and have to be able to get calls and or messages frommy doctores and they have tryed to call and leave a message and have not been able to do those this number calling all the time .

Collection agency McCartney, Burgess, & Wolf.  Leaves automated messages regularly for me to call them back.

I get this everyday...I don't answer unknown calls and it is really making me mad.  The best thing to do is to not call back.
