They texted me asking if a listing on ksl.com was still available,  then the next day they texted me again saying:
"Yes. I am ok with the price and everything.I will be paying via Certified check and my mover will handle the pick up at your place. I will wait till the check clears before picking up. Please send me your full name and address to send the Certified check to you overnight via UPS. Kindly Delete the Posting so i can be sure its mine. Thanks"

He is still at it.  Just received text about an old Craig's list ad I had posted.  I called the number (from another phone),  says the google subscriber is not available.  

I just received a text from 443-379-4655: "My name is BENSON, am from MD, i went through the AD, but i can't make it there due to the nature of my job, but am okay with the condition (of my car), and my mode of payment will be via PayPal, so get back to me with your Name and your PayPal email address to proceed with the payment, and the pick up address so that the shipping company can calculate my shipping cost, and how much is the final price? Global Auto Move"

This is an obvious scam. IS THERE ANY WAY WE CAN STOP THIS GUY? A STING WOULD BE GREAT!!!!

Also - why isn't there a choice of "SCAM" under the Call Type below?

Got a text wanting to buy my motorcycle. I told him he was a scammer and I told him to get lost thanks to this website!!  I appreciate it.

Received a text from this number today.  Saying his name is Benson and he lives in MD.  Due to the nature of his job he can not inspect the car before purchasing.  I text him back saying this is a CASH ONLY SALE!

I received a text from this number on a vehicle that I am selling on craigslist. I am very happy that I was able to find out that this guy has texted more people trying to scam them before I let things get too far.

received txt from same phone # as well today as selling vehicle but seller will not meet in person & wants car shipped with not even looking at vehicle & wants to send payment through paypal....

Got a text today from 443-379-4655 / 786-353-3785 on a $2000 truck ad listed on ksl.com in Utah.

Benson texted and wanted to buy my 2007 Dodge.  He was also from MD and was ready to buy without seeing.  He was just trusting what we told him and wanted to pay through PayPal.  After this we googled his number...obviously a scam.  Who would spend 21,000 without seeing.  Didn't even bother to negotiate!  Haha!

I listed my car on KSL and got a txt from Benson out of MD too.  after a bit of back and forth he wanted to paypal me pmt without any physical look over of the car.  He used the same number (1 443 379 4655).  I'm sure this guy is a scammer.  You don't plunk down $11,000 for a car sight unseen and after a few txt messages.

Decided to list both my cars on KSL today.  Got an text message from Benson about both cars.  What an idiot.

Received a text from this number today after posting my ad on KSL.com.  JERK!  Who can I report him to???  This time he says his name is Benson.

this guy just texted me.. I get these scams at least once a week with the same approach.  how can we stop these people?

I just got the exact same text again (except saying he was from MO instead of MD) from phone number 816-866-7135.  I guess he forgot he had already sent me a text about the same truck on ksl.com.  I will have to report it on 800notes for that number as well.

I had originally just ignored this text after seeing the "buyer" was in MD, but after seeing all the other responses on this website, I just sent in a complaint to the FTC describing the situation because the phone number is a valid number that can send and receive texts, and it is therefore traceable by someone with as many resources as the FTC.  Thanks everybody for posting your experiences with this caller/texter.

I got the same text about my truck on ksl.com, but first he sent a text that said "For Sale Right...!1990 Ford F-350
$2,200".  I replied to the first text, but when he said he was from MD, I just followed the scam advice on ksl.com and didn't bother to text him back.

Text messaged about a listing I had for a golf cart.  Sten said he worked off-shore on an oil rig.  Told him I was not interested.

Posted my truck on KSL.com. This guy identified himself as Sten and wanted to buy my truck. Same story, wanted me to wire cash to a shipping company, and said he supposedly had wired the money for the truck to my account. Good thing he sucks at forging emails.

Do not respond this is obviously a scam!!!

I just got a text from this guy.  He must think I am stupid!  I am selling a custom restored mustang that I show,  & he thinks I am going to sell this to him?     Buahahahahahahahaha

He is still up to this on KSL. Happened to me today only 5 minutes after I posted an ad for my Excursion. Hopefully everyone takes the time to google his phone number.

I got the exact same text message as Ryan from this guy on my cell literally 5 minutes after posting on KSL.com. I gave my paypal email and I guess he has my phone number now. But he was awfully pushy so it was a red flag for me. I googled his number and this site came up and I can't tell you how ever so thankful I am that you all have posted here! Have a wonderful day.

I just got a text from this guy (also called himself Sten) saying he wanted to by a car I was selling on www.ksl.com. "My name is Sten,am from MD,am ready to purchase if it's in good condition,but am not coming to inspect cause am kinda old fashion,no more power to run up and down,can you give me more detail about it". Said he was making arrangements with the shipping company, but I'd have to wire the money to them: "I will have to wire the total fund of $1,750,into your paypal account,so once you receive the total money you will help me to send the 650$ to the shipper through western union that's why i add 100$ for western union charges,i would have love to pay them myself but there's no nearest western union here and i cant make it to far distance,let me know before i made the payment.". Then I call him out on the suspicious inquiry and he gets all testy. Watch out for this scammer!

This time his name was sten and he couldnt call me because of a surgery he had in 1989 ruined his vocal chords.that is the worst excuse I have ever heard
