called at 9:00 am 3/4/09. dead air when I answered.
John in Ohio 2011-06-06 20:49:20 Unknown
Dead air pause when I answered... Then a ring tone... Then a "non-american" (gotta be PC...lol) came on and asked for "owner of business". When I asked who was calling they immediately hung up.
Scott in Arkansas 2011-06-06 20:49:20 Unknown
Called then hung up on my answer. This happens all day long from various numbers and when I look them up they all have reports like the ones listed here!! Grrrr....
hoocha hoocha, pennsylvania 2011-06-06 20:49:20 Unknown
Called my unlisted no. at 9:50a today, 3/20/09. Dialed them back after I answered to a dial tone, and got a fast busy.
There's been another one some of you may have encountered, with a "770" area code, and the same M.O.
Nowadays, if I answer and I actually get some foreigner ("PC," my a**) on the other end trying to pump me for information or ask none-of-his-business questions, I tell them to call my corporate office for more information at "202 224 3121" (the U.S. capitol switchboard). Recommend you do the same.
cheryld 2011-06-06 20:49:20 Unknown
We are on the Do Not Call list however we've been getting these calls for almost two years. If I report them to the FCC will that get me anywhere? I love what hoocha, hoocha in Pennsylvania does and gives them the U.S. Capitol switchboard. I'm going to keep that number handy!
Beazie Girl 2011-06-06 20:49:20 Unknown
I hate these people.
Next time I will do what that other guy did and tell them to call my corporate office 1(415)356-9833 (Reject Hotline)
alias bill 2011-06-06 20:49:20 Unknown
Can we block these unwanted calls?

these morons have been treating my home phone line a business phone line and i reported them to the FTC @ www.donotcall.gov filed a complaint and then i requested they remove my old 1995 business listing from www.yellowpages.com and things got better and even if you do not give out your information they will still post it with out you knowing about it and click on contact us on yellow and request they remove you info and they will do it and since then the calls have gotten better

Just called, decided to let the machine pick it up and they hung up, before the machine kicked in.
I really like the finger on the mute button, idea. May have to try that with the next telmarketing call
GeddoffaMYline! 2009-05-15 18:29:42 Telemarketer
Female called and asked for our manager by first name and asking to verify Yellow Pages information but in broken english with a strong Indian accent. I put her on "ignore" until she hung up.
A fun thing to do is to transfer these calls to a FAX line too.
justhangup 2009-05-13 13:25:33 Unknown
Picked up phone, their end rang a couple times. Guy with accents says, "Hello" and he asks for manager i ask "What do you want? He hangs up. 5-13-09 @ 9:18am from 443-390-1600

This people only call once, then I put them on the blocked list. It's the only way to deal with telemarketers. I have a list of numbers that are blocked. I'm up to "a$$ 56"
now.
Option #2. say they have to call the corperate office, give them the number of the last a$$ that called....
lenny 2009-05-07 21:57:56 Unknown
calls on cell, hangs up.

Called my business claiming to be "my representative from the Yellow Pages"!!! I don't advertise in the Yellow Pages. Typical "Indian"/ Dot-Head tele-marketer... barely spoke English yet calling a New Hampshire phone number. Idiot! I demanded that the caller give me his credit card number and I stated that I charge $70 per hour and that this call was over unless I processed his credit card. I hung on on him because he wouldn't give me a credit card number and then he called back 3 times to tell me & lastly my wife, to go f*** ourselves and that we were Mother-F***ers!!! I guess I won that battle :)
Fight back people! Same scam from # 866-546-3793

A scam, got a call from a guy identifying himself as "Gary Williams" (with a heavy asian accent) giving this unreturnable phone number. He falsely identified himself as working for a national B2B listing service (we already have an account with a reputable outfit). Being skeptical, we asked why the usual rep was not visiting to "confirm listing information>" "Gary said that our rep worked for him and that he was veryifying information and that we would be receiving an invoice for services, he them passed us on to his assistant who passed us on to National White Pages, the "publisher" of the service we already had service. Of course, there is no such publisher. When passed on to Julie/Sandra "in the shipping department" at National White Pages, we were asked a bunch of repeat question and asked for the 5th or 6th time if the person they were speaking to had authority to make a purchase for the company they owned. This person did not have much of the listing material correct, so I stated that I did not think I was speaking to anyone I knew and terminated the phone call.
I have since reported this to the listing service that we have been with for a number of years, they taking down the information and confirming that our rep does not report to "Gary," as there is no Gary there. OUr rep's boss has called back to us to state that they do not sell over the phone.
We will be approaching the BBB and our state's attorney general's office.

Got a call from the Asian guy and said he was from yellow pages and I told him I've told them before not to call that we're not interested he said what you want to cancel your 10 YEAR contract I said 10 years ya right ah ah ahahh and hung up. I'm soooo sick of answering our business phones, solicitors, scammers all day long. I try to trick them or mess with them or I'm just a straight up b***h! I love working for FAMILY!

Our Business received a "sales" phone call where they called themselves ypages (lied about being a version of yellowpages.com) After a long interview with some guy who says we already have a listing and that everything is free/promotional/etcs. they transferred me to a lady and began recording my conversation, she asked me to verify multiple questions where i continually kept confirming all the details under the impression it was something my boss had already been apart of (yellowpages.com) near the end she threw in a $ figure and ended our conversation. A month later another guy calls up and says where's their money in the amount of $499.95 and tries to strong arm us with a modified voice recording. ..They tried to us a website listed as www.ypagesgroup.com which if you search the entire website including "Recent posts" its a plagiarized information from other websites (Google search any of their articles to see where they got their source). The careers are all fake (copy and paste of other companies); the p.o. box is the wrong city (it says Rotwell, it should be Rothwell) Also there is zero contacting them.
Later they called back and gave ypageslive.com a Dylan Murphy x1501
I still think it's crap..
Jenn 2009-04-20 22:04:02 Unknown
very heavy accent, hard to understand. Thought I heard yellowpages, renewing a subscription then transferred me to a shipping department to collect the $500? Told them not to ever call back
