I received the following text:  "I'm OK with the price and the condition, am willing to add an extra $50 to the asking price to secure the purchase and I will like to know if you would accept a check as payment then after it clears your bank %100 with no problem, my mover will come for pick up.  if this is OK please text me back your full name and mailing address to mail payment to.  David"

Same here.  Same number - name - $50 more - offer to meet - called number and Google message system answered.  Bummer

Exact same situations those described above received today for an item on Craigslist in PA.  Called himself Garry, would pay full price and more to hold, wait for check to clear, and would send mover.  Bogus.

Same number texted me May 7th. Had a similar story as those listed in comments, about something I had on Craig's List. Said his name was Garry, would pay more to hold item, send a check, let it clear, have movers pick up items, etc... I texted back cash only. Never heard from him again.

I got a text from this number too about an item we posted.He wanted our name and address too and to  send a check . Then when it cashed at our bank he would send his mover, what bull crap...I sent a text back and told him or it that I don't accept checks or scams....

Did you have any luck in tracing this freak that scams people. He pulled the same crap on me.

This person is a craigslist scammer. He offers to buy your goods and offers $50 over to secure the item. He then requests your address in order to send a check and says a company will pick up the items later. One month later I got a fraudulent check of $2950.00 from the Morgan Guranty Trust Company of New York. I did not cash and am holding for law enforcement. I contacted the bank in New York and they blew me off.  No wonder this crap keeps happening. Don't put your phone number on any craigslist item. Bottom feeders like GARRT ROBERTO are sub human and use honest people to pull scams on. Don't reply to him.

I got this guy wanting to send more money to hold the item. he wanted my name and address and he would send a check....its from a list on craigslist arizona and he's east coast??? kind of fishy.....to buy something for $450 and not knowing the condition is weird

We got a text from this number regarding an item we had for sale.  He wanted our name and address and wanted to send us a check.  When we tried to call the connection was bad.  I texted back and said he could bring cash if he wanted the item.  Also he wanted to give us more money - I know it was a scam now.  We are in SW VA?
