Over the last 6 months I have received numerous calls for an employee that does not work in the office. I am the receptionist on a quite busy phone. Today a man with an Indian accent said his name was Deputy John and asked that I pass a message onto the employee to call Office Rex Coffee @ 443 602 3640 and that it is an EMERGENCY. They are calling a business and being rude. Isn't it illegal to misrepresent themselves when making collection calls of any kind.

How can you do that without having to pay for it? Sometimes they call back on a different #.
| Payback 2012-12-10 19:12:22 Unknown |
Just block their numbers and report them to the cops.

This person (Chief Judy Parker) from 501-835-7390 called me last Friday saying that there was some kind of case filed on me, she was foriegn speaking and said she was from the Jacksonville police Dept on Bethel drive. She then said that I needed to call and get in touch with a Rex Coffee at this number 433-602-3640. When I called this number another foreign person answered the phone (James Anderson) by just hello, when I asked for this Rex Coffee he insisted that I give my name which I would not, then he said well it will take longer and put me on hold. For fear of them tracing my number or information I hung up. I have had some payday loans in the past but all have been paid. This is the only thing I can think of as to how they got my number and information. Lesson learned. Please check into this and report these people! I have been scammed before and I will not tolerate this again!!

I to was called by officer tammy marshall and instructed to call and speak with officer rex coffee. She also threatened to have me arrested at my job site in front of my employer and employees. Looking at all of your posts makes it easier to laugh about now. But i live in Louisiana and not familiar with phone scams like this. Thanks for your information. The next time they call i will let them know that they have been reported to the FTC.

When I called the number back from a blocked phone number a woman answered in a hostile voice. I put on some fake accent and asked her "who does this concern" as she spoke over me...then i said "does this concern my husband or i" in an accent...then she asked what the telephone number was that had received the call---i did not give it to her and you shouldnt either...THIS IS A MAJOR SCAM THAT IS WELL KNOWN ABOUT!!!

On September 27, 2012, I received a v/m from a foreign woman identifying herself as Chief Tammy Marshall from the Illinois State Police Department. She stated that I needed to call her or Officer Randy Smith regarding a fraud that was in connection with my name. She gave a number of 443-602-3640.
I called the ACTUAL Illinois State Police Department phone number and spoke with the operator who told me that this is a scam of some kind and that I needed to contact the Attorney General in Illinois, Lisa Madigan, to file a complaint with this number which is out of Baltimore, MD.
The woman spoken in very broken English and the operator at the Illinois State Police Department explained that the way the call was conducted would never be handled like this by a legitimate police officer.
I have received calls like this at work and at home from foreign individuals who have threatened to have me arrested and hauled away to jail if I don't respond within 20 minutes of their call but never had one identify themselves as someone from the police department.
It got to the point where they would call at the same time every single day and the last time I spoke to the guy who said he was from a law office, I explained that I would not give him anything until legitimate paperwork was first sent, otherwise he could "whistle Dixie" for it and I hung up on him. He never called back after that.
The State Police operator told me that they have had instances of scammers pretending to be the police or the fire department to notify family members that a loved one has been in an accident and are at the hospital and they need to have money wired for their bills. Sadly, they prey on others during a bad time and they have been able to take advantage of the person on the phone by getting their identity from them.
Everyone needs to be forewarned about this and warn their loved ones in order to avoid becoming a victim.
