I have a Medicare Advantage plan from UHC.  Just got a call from them, did not answer, and they left no message. I called them and they did verify it was from UHC, but that it was not for the home visit program, as "I am not on that list."  I
was told the call was to schedule my "annual wellness visit."

I also receive calls, 2 and 3 at a time, one right after the other. Never leaving a message. I, too, am a member of both AARP and United Health. About 6 months ago United Health did call and setup an appointment to come to my house, review all the meds I take (21 of them, sigh). We went over what screening tests would be a good idea to schedule; it was REALLY helpful, informative and I received a very nice blanket as their thank you gift for participating. (They set up all the screening tests for me - I didn't have to lift a finger - so my procrastination was nipped in the bud!) This was great and I would recommend it to everyone.

However, I have received calls recently from a very NASTY rep from AARP. First off she's as sweet as sugar because I (stupidly) answered the phone. (Blocked call, no # displayed, no caller ID.) She asks if it's me, again I say, yes, it's me. (Dumb, dumb, dumb.) She then says she's calling to follow-up on my request for information about an insurance policy through AARP. When I said I had not requested any such thing and I wasn't interested (and I was so nice about it, I sympathize with what a sh*tty job that must be!) she turned instantly into a shrew b*tch direct from hell! OMG! She was so incredibly hostile!! She screamed at me and then hung up on me. Works for me!

Lastly, if they are also sharing info for the purposes of collecting money, they are evil scum. That's so wrong on so many levels. What happened to decent business practices??

I got the call within days of signing up for I think they call it Part D of Medicare. My insurance agent told me that it was free so why not go for it. I was also told that I would be getting a call from these people to confirm my application. Well the call went way beyond confirmation. She ask very personal questions that have nothing whatsoever to do with my health. She asked me how many weapons were in the house and what types they were. I knew right then that this was not about Medicare but about an invasion into my privacy via the disguise of healthcare. I told her that everything in my house was a weapon, ie. anything I can get my hands on to protect myself I consider a weapon but I prefer my trusty coal shovel and did she want a list then of everything in my house. She said that she meant guns. I reminded her that not all guns are weapons so she needs to be more specific. She then blamed me of trying to confuse her. I then told her that she seemed to have already been confused before the call. She then said that someone would need to come to my house for a visit and to see my living conditions. I told her that they were not welcome here because they will have to pry my cold dead fingers off of my coal shovel before I will give it up. She hung up. They can take their Part D and shove it up their liberal a**.

We have Medicare Advantage plans from UHC so they have a vested interest in keeping us healthy. As such, I think they have a right to check up on us now and then to be sure we are still capable, mentallly and physically.  of taking care of ourselves. I don't think it is just idle curiosity that prompts their regular phone calls..

My wife and I agreed to receive a home visit from a UHC representative last summer.  The rep, a young lady (LPN I believe) arrived right on time, took our blood pressures and temperatures, and asked questions about our medications, activities, etc, while taking copious notes.  She didn't look in our refrigerator or cabinets, but I'm sure the main purpose of the visit was to determine if our living conditions were sanitary and we appeared to be generally healthy and well fed. At any ate the visit and interviews were not overly burdensome and we would welcome the rep back for followups in the future.

Received the "House Calls" ID but from a different number. My answering machine took it and the person who came on and said "Hello" sure sounded like all the other foreign scammers that are out there. Can't wait until they call again so I can blow a whistle in their ear.

Answered a call from this number @ 3:21 this afternoon.  Still no one on the end of line after repeatedly saying "hello"...... very annoying and scary.  You don't know if someone is just checking to see if anyone is home at a specific time.... Caller Id displayed the number as well as the ID "Housecalls".

No message left, if the call were very important I am sure United Health Care would have left a message. I am weary of this insurance company and their unwanted calls. Payments are low and I have no desire to undergo forced medical tests which are not needed and can be very dangerous and I certainly do not a questionable health care practitioner coming over.

I didn't answer this phone call at all. I am more interested in what nytemare4u is saying about how the call is legitimate.
That could be true or false depending on if you actually have United Health Care or not. If it is for medicare and aarp, and you recieved a notification letter by mail previous to them calling and you are a senior citizen better off to call them up before they contact you. It is important that you match the phone numbers up with the ones shown on your letter by mail.
However the false side to all of this. If there is no one in the household who has ever had UHC, or AARP, or they are not currently on medicare and they are not senior citizens, then obviously it is a scam call.
No matter who they say they are from and what they are calling about, never under any circumstances should you give out any personal information, period!!!

This is a legitimate call not a scam.. We, as every one else who has AARP Healthcare Complete Medicare , received a letter in the mail that in an addition to the care that their insureds receive from their doctors they are sending out nurses to also check on the patients health and help monitor it. My husband has also been doing in home monitoring with a device they sent that connects to the phone line for their heart health care. So your posting saying they are out to rob you is totally false.

If they call you from this # or any number, wanting to come to your home or ask you for personal information, or the names or any other information on family members, do NOT give it to them! If they are a legitimate caller that has your telephone number through legitimate means, such as when they claim to be from United Health Care doing a physical assessment for Medicare etc, they would ALREADY have your address since its (allegedly) for Medicare/Medicaid/whatever! Medicare does NOT send people to your home for medical assessments! If you give them your address, social security #, ANYTHING - you are setting yourself up! They can come to your house and rob you, hurt or kill you, steal your identity, clean out your bank and credit card accounts! Please read my article, published  a year ago by Yahoo - (copy and paste below url in your address bar)

http://voices.yahoo.com/the-elderly-may-become-victims-online-8939495.html

It is actually about elderly falling victim to on-line dating and sweepstakes scams, but there is also alot of good info about these telephone scams, etc, which goes along with this crap. I write articles about this B.S. and I get the calls too! I used to be a case manager for the elderly and disabled and have seen these type people in action first-hand!

My call from this number was to have me contact United Health Care about having a house call from a practicioner to do physical assessment, give advice on questions I could ask doctor, help identify health problems, etc. I contacted UHC and said I did not want to participate and was not pressured to do so. The rep said she would note in my file. (I had previously received a letter about this option)

I have received calls from them in the past. I could careless what they want or do not want. I never answer the phone for an unknown number. Thus, when I see that number I never answer or call them back. Two can play at this game.

Debt Collector
These are actually collection calls geared at trying to find information for unpaid medical & hospital bills that is a part of United Healthcare's subrogation/"recovery" department. Beware - it's illegal what they are doing.

As they are supposedly not trying to recover money from you, they think they are circumventing the law which prohibits them from calling an Employer on a debt collection call. They get information from ancestry.com and others hoping to track down a family member stupid enough to give information on the living as well as the dead.

They recently tried to call & ask information on my Company phone asking for my deceased birth mother - what a real class act. I was given up for adoption as a baby and only recently was my information placed on ancestry.com.

There's a special room in hell for the likes of folks like these. I am a member of AARP and I will begin with them, the Better Business Bureau and then finally see if the PA State Attorney's office will do anything. In the meantime....

The Hang Up Calls are from the automatic dialers trying to determine the best time to have one of their vultures call you - they share the information across Business Units - that's why sometimes they're trying to sell you Insurance instead of bleed you for payment.

The biggest problem that makes this a chargeable offense is that they will claim as a family member you are responsible for the debts of the deceased party - That's the scam - that's what Probate Court is for not UHC.
