I knew this was a scam call because the same caller has called before, always with the same message. The way to fix this annoying problem of scam-callers and telemarketers is to vote AGAINST every politician who is currently in office.  Why?  Because we already have laws to protect us from these scammers, and the incompetent career politicians who are currently in office have done nothing to enforce the laws we sent them to enforce.  You can make a difference on Primary and General Election Days by voting against EVERY politician in office, by firing them all, and by replacing them with new blood.  If you do not fire these political morons, we will continue to receive these abusive and annoying illegal scam calls from the maggots known as telemarketers, a product of the career politicians who aren't doing the jobs we hired them to do.  Please be a true American and vote against ALL incumbents!  Only new blood can stop absuing American Citizens.  Vote Against All Incumbents.

I received a call from this number on May 8, 2014 at 8:09 AM with the caller ID showing "Children's Cancer".   I did not answer the phone.

They repeatedly call my home number and ask for me by my first name. I always growl a "no" and hang up.

Called at 5:20 PM. ID as the Children Cancer Center.  Normally I don't answer but I was walking past the phone when it rang.  Picked it up, pushed 'talk' and put the phone down on the kitchen counter.  After about 3 minutes I could here a woman LOUDLY speaking and asking for me by name. I could hear frustration in her voice.  Made me feel good.  Eventually they hung up.   If they keep calling, as a PI I was able to find where they are calling from. A short drive from where I live. Think I might pay them a visit!  If you work there, what you are being paid may not be worth it!

I got a call from them today.  I am familiar with this name "Childrens cancer" my caller ID was showing.  So,  I didn't answer.  

Caller ID says Childrens Cancer [..]  one of these notorious robofemales.

Also received a call from this number. They left no message when we did not pick up. Based on the comments in this thread, we will block them for the future. Thanks to everyone who posted.

Called on my non-published line at 114p.  Caller ID said CHILDRENS CANCE.  No message left.  First-time call for me.  Thanks to everyone here for the heads-up about the scam.

I didn't pick up the phone since with so many telemarketers at our place our kneejerk reaction is not to even answer a strange number.  But I checked the number out afterwards and these folks seem to be a charity-in-name-only and use most of their revenue for their own salaries and self-financing.  Cited data below:

I have an unlisted number, which is also on the DoNotCall registry.  I have received multiple calls from this group, usually between 8 pm - 9 pm, asking for 'Tammy', 'Kimball', etc. (a different name each time they call).  EVERY TIME I tell them they have the wrong number, they say "Oh, I have the right number, just the wrong name" and proceed with their pitch.  I've asked on 4 separate occasions to be removed from their calling list, and been told that my number would be removed.  I'm not holding my breath at this point.  The last time they called, I repeated their sales pitch to them nearly verbatim.  It is really getting ridiculous.

These people are most definitely scammers. They have called my number many times; usually I do NOT answer these annoying calls, however I have picked up several times (because I'm so SICK of them calling my number!) and advised them to "REMOVE MY NUMBER FROM THEIR CALLING LIST AND STOP CALLING THIS NUMBER!"  Unfortunately I'm still getting these harassing calls. NO legitimate charity organization would be calling people at random like this asking for donations because it is well known (it has even been on the news) that phone calls of this kind are made only by SCAMMERS. They are thieving criminals!  NEVER EVER send any money to ANYONE you don't know over the phone!

Called at 8:10 AM this morning ... didn't leave a message ... scum!!!

Was called @0805 this morning asking for donations for Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation. What is the purpose of complaining if nothing is done?

Received a call this evening - no name on caller ID just the phone # - woman asked for my husband by
name and when I asked who was calling, there was silence.  There also was a call earlier - woman asked
for my husband by name - when I asked, she asked to speak to someone who had made a pledge - I said
no one in our household many any kind of pledge - she hung up.  Hopefully I do not get the same call
at 8:30 in the morning.

We rec'd call today..........Lady asked for my lhusband and then she claimed to be from The Children's Cancer Fund wanting a donation........We have supported an organization for many years that we know to be legitimate and we know the professionals and medical personnel of that organization.  However, she knew my husband's name.  We only support The Children's Cancer Foundation and no other group has the right to try and con people into thinking they are the same group.  Will keep an eye on this one for sure!!!

Same scenario as above woman called looking for my husband and I told her he was not at  home and asked if I could help and she hung up.  Call was at 7:23 pm    

They called at 8:05am and didn't leave a message. We are on the Do Not Call List. This is very annoying and I wish it would stop.

On 9/25 at 2:40 pm received a call from a woman looking for my husband and he was not home, asked if I could help and she hung up.  Again on 9/28 at 5:43 pm againg a call from this number and when answered the call, they humg up again.  I want this to STOP IMMEDIATELY and I am reporting this to the BCPD fraud unti.

Here it is 8:30p and Discount Center comes up on my phone. Usually I dont answer these kind of calls and so late in the evening. She asked for me by name and I told her she was speaking to Lorie. And she went on this loud presentation of who she was and I got even  louder and talked over her and told her dont be calling my house this late at nite! I knew damn well these people were full of crap cause they have called before. I hate these people. Bunch of thieves and liars!

September 25th, 8:30 am.  I received a call from Discount Center, the operator call Vanessa hanged up on me while I was explaining to her that the person she is trying to reach has Alzheimer. I found a link to block them and I happily did it, it is not polite to make calls before 9 and it is unprofessional to hang up on people like that and I would not want to have anything to do with this company.

Number is from Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation.  According to Charity Watch's Charity Raiting Giuide the group got an F rating for poor.  Unless you clearly know the organization, never give over the phone.  If you are interested in giving to the organization, request they provide you information on their work by mail and you will consider them.  If you are interrested in giving money to help the less fortunate and feel good about helping, you might want to consider PlanG.org which lists over a million non-profits.

Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation has always been close to fraud because so little of the money they collect actually goes to the cause they support. Charitynavigator.org always rated them very poorly.

I just posted the above note..I have just called the BBB...the number listed as 443-873-1528...Children's Cancer does not wish to share information with the BBB and therefore may not give the entire donation to said organization..also the American Cancer Foundation was notified and they stated they always refer to themselves as The American Society not the AC Foundation.  They would not call that early and be rude.

I received a call from this number at *8:30 Am (443-873-1528.  I work tonight and double back in the morning.  Usually when someone hears a groggy voice they apologize.  This person was extremely rude and to call befoe 9:00 am is unexcusable.
