Received a call yesterday from someone starting by confirming my name and then saying he was from the DEA and that I would definitely be supeoned and I was facing 2 charges.  He told me to hang on but after screaming what are you talking about I hung up and today reported to DEA hotline.  I was frigtened and my blood pressure went up all day.   Not good for a senior citizen on anti hypertensive medication. I have no caller ID and this was a landline so I did not get a number.  When I first picked,up phone there ws a pause before he spoke the same as most telemarketing calls I receive.  This call has ruined yesterday and part of day for me.

Just got the same call from these guys, not first time, they did same last year.  With 30+ years in law enforcement I can tell you that NEVER will we call someone and tell them to be at home in 10 minutes they will be by for arrest, same story as you guy shave gotten.  Tell them that you willbe waiting for them, ask them how long they think you will be in jail so you can get your medicines prepared, just keep talking a mile a minute about details of your length of stay and they you are on oxygen, will they have that available, etc, etc.

Ask for a moment you will answer other line and be right back, lay the phone down and walk away.  They will hang up after a while.  Be sure to call local attorney generals office and report scam, and the number they called from,  as you can see from the way we have all been called from same numbers to get on this post page,  your local state attorneygeneral's office will take your complaint and handle it.

Keep smiling and keep posting, encourage your local AG office to run an newspaper article to warn others.

Here is the notice from the DEA taken right from their web page:ALERT - EXTORTION SCAM - ALERT

DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators

The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies.  The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.  In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas.  If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property.  Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.

Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law.  The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet.  It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met.  And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA.  By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law.  In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.

DEA agents trying to scare people into sending money. Please call the FBI and DEA, they will confirm this scam. I just hope to God no one gets so scared that they fall for it. I get a call from the DEA every couple months, the "special" agents told me I violated Ryans act....I report it to the DEA, they have a very responsive team that always reassures me about the calls. These people should burn in hell.

Special Agent Pena and Special Agent Anthony Williams contacted me and told me they had a warrant for my arrest and U.S. Marshals would be knocking on my door within minutes.  They said I was part of a 10 year investigation into the pharmaceutical industry and they had proof I had bought Viagra online in 2006.  They said I would be extradited to the Dominican Republic if I did not send them $3,800.00 via western union within the hour.

I CALLED THE FBI AND DEA.  I WAS TOLD THIS IS A SCAM!! THIS SCUM BAG NEEDS TO GET A REAL JOB, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO HUSSLE HARD WORKING AMERICANS OUT OF $$. I HOPE THE REAL DEA AND/OR THE REAL SPECIAL AGENT PENA / SPECIAL AGENT ANTHONY WILLIAMS  GETS THEIR HANDS ON THIS CLOWN.

This is not your run-of-the-mill scam. These guys had a fake DEA switchboard with extensions for agents in the field.  They had done their homework.  They raddled off USC statutes they say I violated.  They threatened  to ruin my career and my family.  At one point when I said I was going to ask my wife something they told me that she would be indicted for conspiracy if I mentioned anything to her about the supposed "on going" investigation.

got message to call "special agent" Javier Pena from Drug Enforcement "Agency" (should be Administration) at 1-877-315-3773 ext 2235. so I called knowing it is scam the real DEA Agent Javier Pena is too far up chian of command to ever make phone calls-anyway informed him I knew it was scam and that me and some of my buddies would hunt him down in DR - this scared him and he demanded to know how I knew where he was  I just laughed and told him we would be meeting him and his associates soon  He quickly hung on me. I have not recieved any calls from these clowns in a long time but this is second in two weeks. The other was out of Ludel,TX 830-494-1349 and was registered land line through sprint (usually the DR uses YMAX aka magic jack) so I reported that one to an actual DEA Agent in Austin who said he would take care of that one personally. As for this currrent 877-315-3773 and 443-957-4656 I know others have reported number to DEA Scam number in D.C. so I did not bother reporting this one. If these guys call you do not be fooled they are imposters. I am friends with several people in law enforcement FBI and DEA and have spoken to them about this stuff. They assure me that these people are being investigated and will eventually be caught. My friend in local district DEA told me that they do not make phone calls if the real DEA wants to speak with you they will either show up or contact you via certified mail from local district office not some long distance out of state nonsense phone call investigation.

I have received numerous calls from these "DEA Agents" telling me that if I do not respond they will have police at my door in a matter of hours, arresting me for purchasing illegal drugs online!  I have never done this, they insist that I have and then they claim that if I pay them $1,500 they will be able to drop charges!  Really?????? I can not believe these people are such SCUMS!!!

Wanted to add one more thing to my message above.  The biggest reason I knew this was some type of fake call was that one of the things this man said was since this pharmacy is being indicted, they had to assume that I was involved in helping the online pharmacy to traffic cocaine into the U.S..  I'm like "WHAT !!??".  That statement sealed the deal for me that I was being scammed.  I'm sure they use different lines on every person they call to try and intimidate them.  HANG RIGHT UP ON THESE SCUM BAGS.

OMG.  I just received a call this afternoon from this number.  The man starts the call saying he's Special Agent DEA Mark....then he mumbled a last name I could not understand.  He tells me that some online pharmacy is being indicted and that I had visited their website (back in 2001 ??).  That I, along with 800 other people were going to be indicted and I was facing 3-7 years in jail.  I'm a pretty upstanding citizen and knew I did nothing wrong so I immediately was getting a bad vibe from this call.  I said "hold on here, what are you talking about-this is making no sense".  He tells me that I had to hold on for a minute and he was going to put someone else in charge of the investigation on the line that I could speak with - (this is where they were probably going to try & shake me down for money).  I did not let the call get any further. I told him he sounded like a "crazy person" and I hung up on him. The same number called back a minute later.  I did not answer.  Right after, I went on White Pages to look this number up and it is a land-line coming from Baltimore, MD.  I then entered the number in BING and all this information came up about this phone number being fake and they are impersonating a DEA AGENT.  I'm very sorry for anyone who  gave these people money.  I hope the REAL DEA AGENTS can catch these criminals !!

Prescription Drug Scam Uses DEA Agents' Identities To Terrify Victims into Paying Up

The websites seem so simple, so inviting -- buy prescription diet pills or sleep-aids without a prescription. But it could be a trap.

A few clicks on certain websites can lead to phone calls that sound like this: "This is officer James Kashin. If you and your wife don't call me back you are going to jail."

Or this: "This is special agent David Brown. We are going to bring you in, in custody, with criminal charges for medication from overseas."

It's all part of an elaborate scam, including the alleged law enforcement phone calls.

According to DEA officials, criminal scam artists first sell prescription drugs online through websites they sometimes operate. After customers input their personal information and make a purchase, the criminals can use the information to blackmail and extort them.

Scammers pose as federal drug enforcement agents, even use actual agents' names, when they make threatening phone calls to thoroughly scare their marks, but then the fake agents offer their victims a lifeline. The caller tells his victims that they have a choice -- either they pay up by a certain deadline and their names will be cleared, or they will be charged as suspects in a criminal investigation and face jail time.

"Basically he wanted me to pay $1,500," said Kesha Howell, a victim of the scam.

"He's got you in such a panic state that by the time he offers you the money, I mean really, that's a no-brainer. Just tell me how much and if I can afford to do it, I'm in," said Darren Dutil, another victim.

Victims of this scam say the phone calls sound authentic and are genuinely terrifying because the person on the other end has all of their personal information.

"He was very calm, cool, but very intimidating. He knew things about me. He had legit information on me and that's what was so scary," Howell said.

"I was ready to call my wife and kids and say, 'hey look, see you all later. I'm obviously going to be gone for a while,'" Dutil said.

Another victim, who didn't want his name revealed, said he got a call from the scammers and fake DEA agents actually showed up at his house in suburban Fort Worth, Texas.

"They pulled up in a black SUV, right there at the driveway. Two white males got outside, stood beside the truck, and a slender 5-10, 5-11 black male came toward me with black wavy hair," he said.

In the end, he said he didn't fall for the scam, but he admitted he came close.

But Carolyn Sirek, a legal secretary from Joshua, Texas, fell into the trap and accepted the buyout option after receiving the scamming calls. According to her husband Dan Sirek, Carolyn went into a local Wal-Mart and wired the scammers the money through Western Union.

"It depleted our savings account, let's put it that way," Dan Sirek said.

Very often, after one payment, the scammers come back for more. Carolyn Sirek was apparently so upset and scared about what happened that she shot and killed herself in her backyard. Her husband said he found her with a bullet hole in her chest.

Thousands of victims, many of whom have paid the scammers, have called the DEA hotline for help. Officials believe several of these people have shelled out thousands of dollars in the extortion and that the operation is being run out of the Dominican Republic.

The DEA has indicted 11 Dominican men, but as of yet, those men have not been arrested. Agents told ABC News they are working with the Dominican government to have the suspects extradited to the United States, and are investigating other groups operating similar scams.

The DEA advises that anyone who gets a threatening phone call to hang up and report it and also warns Americans to be very, very wary of online pharmacies.

"I think that's one of the takeaways for people to understand, that buying over the Internet for controlled substances is highly suspicious, and they should be very cautious about trying to do that," said DEA agent Gary Boggs.

If the 11 men who have been indicted are charged, they face 20 years in prison. Dan Sirek, who lost his wife, thinks they should get the death penalty.

"Our relationship is probably something that only comes along once in a lifetime, and I hope they move fast and get these people so nobody else gets hurt," he said.

I just got the same phone call from the "DEA" that their was a "subpoena for my arrest".  First of all, a subpoena is usually to appear or produce, Secondly, when does the DEA call and let you know first you are going to be arrested?  I knew this was a scam immediately because I have done nothing at 54 years old to be arrested for.  I hung up and they called back and said that the arresting officer would be there in about 15 -20 minutes.  I told him if they were not here by then, I will call and let him know.  Needless to say, they never showed up and I called him back.  He said they were on their way again... nothing.  I called him back after reading up about this number and it makes me so mad that some people actually believe this jerk and send money, especially the older woman (older than me) that was featured on Nightline.  For a change, I turned the tables and very much enjoyed advising him what a worthless person her was and he began a screaming match that lasted about 5 minutes.  He actually had to hang up on me.  I will be calling them again.  I hate scammers, liars and thieves.  From the language he used, i.e., telling me where I can stick something and much more, I am sure it was not the DEA.  So, Please everyone beware and do not send any money and report the phone call.

This was the DEA scam.  The call was very convincing and very terrifying even though every part of me knew better.  After they have you on the ropes, they offer you a way out via another call from another person.  Apparently, if you have ever purchased or even visited an online prescription website, they have gotten access to your phone number and have tracked down your current address.  These slimeballs will tell you that there has been a warrant issued for your address in ______________(your hometown) and that you will be spending 3-7 years in prison for illegally buying drugs from overseas.  Of course, if you think this through, no law enforcement agency would warn you of your arrest OR offer you the opportunity to bribe them over the phone.  Again, they are very convincing and may have the dates and years that you purchased drugs online in the past.  Just hang up.

This SOB literally just called me an hour ago.  I didn't trust it, but I'm sure some people will be fooled.  This is really disturbing.  I have also gotten calls in the past by heavy accented people claiming to be an assistant DA and such, but they were found to also be fake upon investigation.  I hope these MFs get caught.

Heavy accent, claimed he was a special agent with DEA and I needed to return the call as the matter was urgent.

Spoke with my local law enforcement and they said it was a scam that these people would call and tell you that you or a relative had a warrant for your arrest but for a certain amount of money the warrant would be canceled...

Bunch of scum....
