Got this email in response to a little two wheel tow dolly that I posted on craigslist - funny how the guy talks about a financier for an $800 purchase.  Thought someone out there might find this useful...

Yep, I got it tonight also from "Dr. Lawrance" who can't even spell his own name correctly. I wonder if anyone has actually fallen for this ruse. I told him to have his "daughter" Kelly ring me tomorrow if it was that urgent and also asked him to tell me WHICH hospital he, as a chemist who is also, weirdly, a PhD, would be working at....also signed with MY credential, which is JD. ha ha ha that should give him a secondary pause...

If he isn't going to rent anything then what is the scam?  I am a victim of this person possible wanting to rent property scam However, I did not give him any information.  He has my cell number and e-mail address that's it, but that is still scary.  Thank you all, for sharing your experience....

I got the same e-mail today!
I asked my leasing office, and they told me that what he does in the end is cut you a check that looks very real and it ends up being totally fake, and then he demands that you send him a portion of the money back or something like that.  It is a money scam trying to get people to cut him a personal check. Don't even deposit his check if you get it!!!!
EEEEk. She says everything seems completely legitimate until the day you move out and find out the check never worked. That would be awful!

Friend asked me advice on pursuing a rental inquiry she had from Dr Jeremy Lawrance.  Glad I googled it to find that it was a scam.  She got the same letter-complete with bad spelling and awfully suspicious writing for a English PhD. Don't know where the rest of you are located but this was in the Boston suburbs. Thanks for posting your info and saving others from making a mistake.Wonder if the real Dr Lawrance knows his name is being used this way?

I got this same message when I posted a rental on Craig's list.  The man barely speaks proper English and kept insisting it was a unit when it was a house, which raised my suspicions.
