Called at 12:40 PM PST. I didn't answer it, and no voicemail was received. I received a spoofed called from 000-000-0000 a couple of hours later.

I just had a call from a strongly accented woman calling from some company (I couldn't understand!) She said they'd been receiving messages from my computer. I had just woken up, and I was a bit confused, but it only took me a second to realize this was something fishy. When I told her I wasn't at home, she seemingly pretended to not be able to hear me, and I hung up. Got a callback a few mintues later from an "unknown" number and did not answer, no message was left.

Don't know who they were or why they called - didn't answer. I am on the Do Not Call Registry so I typically don't answer calls from unknown numbers that are coming from out of state. They did not leave a message. Looks like, based on everyone's comments, this is some sort of scam or telemarketing.

Got a call today. Caller ID said "ATT". Guy with thick accent told me he was calling because my computer had been hacked.
I could tell he was in a large call room. I told him I thought he was a scammer and hung up.

Anyone that reads this! Just so you know, if you are on the DO NOT CALL LIST, record every phone interaction from this number, trace its GPS location, I found it was in Mosqite, TX, and sue them! Violators of the do not call list can be sued for $1,500 PER CALL!!! I understand they rigged the phone line to only move one way, I received these calls as well, but now it's time to take some serious legal action! Let's gang up, pool our phone records together, and nail these jerks once and for all on a class action national lawsuit!

I read your posts as I was talking to the person from Microsoft with the very heavy accent. I wasted about 25 minutes of their time today. I played dumb and told them that they must mean my desktop computer, which has been out of commission for the last 3 months as the computer is approx. 10 years old and the bios finally gave out and will not boot anymore. So I turned on the computer and of course it right away gives me an error stating that the hard drive could not be found. After messing with them for 15 minutes on this computer I told them that I thought that my husband said that the OS was corrupted and could he possibly mean my husbands laptop? They immediately brightened and said yes, now they see that it was supposed to be a laptop that they were getting errors from. I said "OK". I pretended to turn on the computer knowing that both my modem and router were turned off and asked how to connect to the internet. I then said "Oh, maybe I should make sure that the internet boxy thingy is on". They agreed that the router should be turned on. Then spent another 3-4 minutes waiting for that to come "online" then I had the brilliant idea that maybe the other internet box thingy (modem) might need to be on as well. Then I said that I don't know which program to look for to get to the internet - they said IE, FireFox or Chrome, I said I don't see those, I only see Safari... he asked if I had any other computers or laptops and I said yes, but I had placed the battery to that laptop too close to my stove and it had exploded and I had not received a replacement yet. He then said "You B****" and hung up on me. I have not been this entertained in a long time. 3 minutes later I got a call from a (000) 000-0000 number, hit replay and I had another entertaining 20 minutes.

Debt Collector
Have gotten numerous calls from this number, ones from Kansas, Florida, and Illinois, as well. Typically I don't answer them because, as we all know, these are scams and cold callers and downright annoying scumbags!!  I finally answered one yesterday (they call me about 20 times a day from different numbers. The woman stated that she needed to speak with me about a personal matter regarding my MEDICAL HISTORY.... I then tried to figure out what company she was with and she was completely rude to me, absolutely disgusting. I called the number back and spoke to a much nicer scumbag who informed me they were a debt collection service... Today, the phone call was from a 'State Medical Health' company supposedly in my state asking me about any surgeries I had had and claiming that he could help me get monetary compensation. I humored him and he then listed a plethora of maladies that they can get compensation for. When I said "No I haven't experienced these" he promptly hung up. I plan to call back in an hour to get more info about them.
The company I will list here was the one from yesterday, as I was able to look them up online to find out more information...

This afternoon I got a call from 469-286-9841.  The only reason I answered it is because caller ID said ATT.
This guy wanted to do home repairs?   I told him it was a bogus call and hung up and contacted AT&T.

Just received a call from this same number. Told me three times they were Microsoft Tech Support. Fourth time they denied they were from Microsoft. And gave me some other company name (had trouble understanding with the accent.)  When I asked why they told me there were calling for Microsoft, they denied they ever told me that they were calling from Microsoft.

I had fun playing along for a bit.  He couldn't tell me which version of windows I had.  Or why it was sending messages while it was turned off. I even got transferred to a supervisor when I had trouble pretended to have trouble understanding how to turn on my PC. (As a salute to my days of tech repair in the 90's...haha.)

I finally told him that we have 20 computers here at work, and I have five more at home.  So I needed to know which computer was "sending the messages." He sound quite excited about that, told me that they ALL were "sending the messages."

{{Wish I'd read this thread sooner.  You all had much better ideas than me. :) haha.}}

Just got a call about 5 minutes ago from them. A guy named "David" with a thick accent said he was from Microsoft Windows and he was calling about a problem reported about my computer. I told him "No, you're not. You're trying to scam me so you can hang up now." His response was priceless...."WHAT??!"

Oh...and caller ID just said ATT, so clearly he wasn't from Microsoft just from that. It's sad because my brother's friend was just recently scammed by someone like this.

Got a call from 469-286-9841 telling me that they worked for Microsoft and had detected malware/virus on my computer.  They told me they could verify they are legitimate by giving me my PC ID.  I hung up on them.  Wonder how they got my cell phone number and name.

I received a call from this number, the man's accent was so thick I could hardly understand him. He asked for me by name and said he was calling from my state's "Medical Health Department" wanting me to confirm whether "I had surgery before, in the past, in my body."
